Birther Crackpot Joseph Farah Caught With Loaded Handgun at Dulles Airport

Batshit crazy and armed
Wingnuts • Views: 23,640

In a classic right wing screw-up, the Southern Poverty Law Center reports that the publisher of batshit crazy conspiracy website World Net Daily, birther loon Joseph Farah, was caught trying to carry a loaded .38-caliber handgun through security at Washington DC’s Dulles Airport. Farah has been charged with a class 1 misdemeanor.

Birthers with loaded guns getting on airplanes. What could go wrong?

How long before he claims that he forgot the gun was packed in his bag, or that this law is somehow unconstitutional in its restriction on his rights to bear arms, even at 30,000 feet, where any gunfire has the potential to be catastrophic.

But remember, he’s a responsible gun owner, right up until the moment that he wasn’t.

If you’re a responsible gun owner, you know where the firearms are at all times, whether it’s loaded or not, and it is secure. Moreover, you’re going to know the rules for traveling with firearms, including not carrying them on to an airplane or bring them into an airport without having the proper clearances.

So, there’s that.

Too bad Farah didn’t tell security “I’ll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.” He missed a great opportunity to stand up for his right to bear arms.

Gunmen fire on plane at Pakistan’s Peshawar airport

Gunmen fired on a Pakistan International Airlines plane as it was landing in the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Tuesday night, killing a woman on board and injuring three crew members in the third incident at a Pakistani airport this month.

Flight PK 756 was carrying 178 passengers travelling from Saudi Arabia when it came under attack as it was preparing to land, policeman Asghar Khan said at the airport.

The plane was hit by six bullets, police said, killing the Pakistani woman and narrowly missing the captain. At least one bullet struck the plane’s engine, police said.

NY House races starting to trickle in, and my complaint is the same here as elsewhere - far too many uncontested races (on both sides of the aisle) and far too many incumbents not sufficiently challenged.

The interesting race in NY is Espaillat v. Rangel. It’s the rematch of 2012, when Rangel won by about 1,100 votes. There’s a total of 4 candidates running, but it really is a 2-way race.

It’s weird how many old white men in Arizona can’t deal with the fact the Spanish language has an older history there than English.

More anonymous online posts have been attributed to the Arizona Republican who’s spent years as a prolific and provocative commenter on local political blogs.

Days after he owned up to several incendiary anonymous comments, Arizona television station KTVK on Monday unearthed additional posts by state schools superintendent John Huppenthal (R) in which he protested the use of Spanish language in the United States.

In a late-2010 post on the conservative blog Espresso Pundit, Huppenthal, writing under the pseudonym Falcon9, said that America only has room for English.

“We all need to stomp out balkanization. No spanish radio stations, no spanish billboards, no spanish tv stations, no spanish newspapers,” he wrote roughly a month after he was elected. “This is America, speak English.”

Keep up with that outreach GOP. Purposefully alienating the fastest growing demographic bloc in this country is a fantastic strategy.

This is interesting.
What wealth gap? Danish welfare narrows disparity
Much of it is the expected stuff about high taxes and generous social services but there are some surprises.

With a solid safety net in place, the government has persuaded unions to accept a flexible labor market. Under a model known as “Flexicurity,” companies can quickly lay off staffers during downturns. Laid-off workers, in turn, receive training and guidance in pursuing new careers.

Such training is part of Denmark’s approach to education, which is free for everyone of all ages in this country of 5.6 million. Students of any age over 18 who live on their own can receive a stipend of 5,839 kroner ($1,028) a month. Those living with their parents can receive about half that.

So widespread is education that one byproduct has been something unfamiliar elsewhere: A shortage of unskilled labor. Denmark has no mandated minimum wage. But unions and employers’ organizations have agreed on a minimum of 111 kroner ($20.30) an hour.

Torben Andersen, an economics professor at Aarhus University, sees political unity as a factor in Denmark’s narrow wealth gap.

“There are not the same strong conflicts and very strong parties and views like you will see, for instance, in U.S. politics,” he said.

And yes, I’m talking about Democrats (just to make sure you understood). If we were against businesses, FDR would have shut them down during the Depression.

I also found this interesting…

Prime Minister Thorning-Schmidt said she’s committed to helping businesses stay competitive.

“We need to continue to take decisions to ensure that our model is sustainable and preserves prosperity,” she said in an email to The Associated Press.

In the end, there’s an economic trade-off, says Danske Bank’s chief economist, Steen Bocian.

“You could probably have higher growth in Denmark, allowing for more income inequality,” he said. “But it’s a political question whether you would pursue that.”

Is does remind me of the Canadian guy who started Occupy Wall Street. HE had an interesting idea about economic growth: the common wisdom is economic health is indicated by growth, his idea was low/no growth economic models would work better. Constant growth isn’t indefinitely sustainable. Interesting ideas but unfortunately we don’t have the culture here for them to take root.

92.3% in and Cochran’s raised his lead a whole .1%.

thanks!

Wingnuts always seem to think that the key to economic growth is just taxing the shit out of the people with the least money and giving money back to those with the most. And that starving an ailing economy of much needed government spending will cure it, because we all know that a car running on fumes runs the strongest.

94.2% in and Cochran’s lead has shrunk to .2% This may very well go down to the recount.

Their economic approach is frankly for better lack of a word stupid. They claim to have a problem with spending but yet refuse to even touch the defense budget. Claim taxation is “tyranny” yet as you say have no problem taxing those with the least.

Looks like McDaniel lost. Big city precincts always finish counting last and that’s where Cochran’s support is going to be greatest.

Right now Cochran ahead 171,971 to 169,445 / 50.4% to 49.6%

I also found this interesting…

Is does remind me of the Canadian guy who started Occupy Wall Street. HE had an interesting idea about economic growth: the common wisdom is economic health is indicated by growth, his idea was low/no growth economic models would work better. Constant growth isn’t indefinitely sustainable. Interesting ideas but unfortunately we don’t have the culture here for them to take root.

We have to change how we calculate “growth” and “economic activity”

When I used to put $20 of quarters into an arcade game, I got many fewer hours of entertainment, and less joy to my life, than I now get from a $1 app… but it counted as 20 times as much contribution to GDP. Prior to the cancelation, organizers had encouraged group members on Facebook to make the walk into “a big event,” in order to “show that gun rights belong to all.” The group said that it was going to conduct the walk-through of the heavily African-American neighborhoods in conjunction with a canned food drive for needy families.

Thad Cochran is a reactionary right wing creep. And he’s not conservative enough for the Tea Party.

I’ve read this comment 3 or 4 times now, and I can’t believe it’s true. The right wing in the United States has gone full-blown whack-a-loon.

Would love to be wrong.

What are the odds that by tomorrow the dark corners of wingnutistan will have declared with absolute certainty Cochran has a secret black love child and that is why he sold his soul to the shifty ones?

When the ultra right and the right form circular firing squads, I just stand back, laugh, and count the bodies.

I was republican, but the rabble that invades the tea party made me leave. Best decision I ever made. These clowns are as predictable as a sunrise.

That may be your liberal republican goal, but my goal is to absolutely politically destroy every liberal republican that I can.

Liberal republicans in the senate are like having dems in the senate.

First, the liberal republicans have to be utterly destroyed.

The actions of the GOP-E put the seal on that tonigh

Could you please, please start with Susan Collins?

Freepers were really worried about the MS race earlier today because there was a good turn out. It was almost as though they realized their candidate wasn’t going to get majority support.

WOW. McDaniel is furious. Accuses Thad of “abandoning the conservative movement” to win.

Well, Cochran did treat him like a farm animal.

AP has called race for Thad Cochran

@owillis: so who won in mississippi? the right wing reactionary republican or the right wing reactionary republican?

(Might be the right wing reactionary Republican who openly courted the Democratic black vote in a MS Republican primary )

225 GlutenFreeJesus  Jun 24, 2014 8:50:27pm

Excuse me, but aren’t democrats in MS also constituents of the governor, regardless of political affiliation?

TP fools are sounding more and more like that German party from the 30s they are projecting onto the Dems (and anyone else that doesn’t follow their lead).

I wish you were joking.

Saw some statistics recently about imprisonment in Louisiana (highest incarceration rate in the country) and the racial disparity just broke my heart.

Racism is alive and well in the American South ladies and gentleman.

Is it too late to not vote for McDaniel?

234 teleskiguy  Jun 24, 2014 8:59:30pm

From what I understand, Mississippi election law states that the primaries are “open” until you vote for a certain candidate of some or other political party. So a voter in Mississippi could theoretically sit on her/his ass until tonight and - regardless of political affiliation - show up and vote for whoever in the primary, as long as they didn’t vote for some or other party candidate in the previous primary.

…or something like that.

re: #215 jaunte

Oof, McDaniel is angry and ripping his party and lashing Cochran for wooing D voters. “This is not the party of Reagan.”

Wait, I thought Reagan wooed Democratic voters.

236 BeachDem  Jun 24, 2014 9:05:12pm

Our local wingers are sad as well—the person who came in third in the main primary for State School Superintendent called for Sally Atwater to drop out of the runoff and let her (Sheri Few) take her place—saying Atwater was totally unqualified (which, of course, she was—but then so was Sheri Few.)

One of Atwater’s lackeys said: Congratulation to Sheri Few for giving us the most liberal Republican Molly Spearman. I will not forget. I hope you are happy. Homeschoolers will now have to register.

Wah, wah, wah. I think you have to live here in South (by god) Carolina to truly appreciate the “too small for a republic, too big for an insane asylum” quote.

Why is Greenwald known as a lefty? Looks more and more like he’s a neocon who caught Obama Derangement Syndrome and found national security to be the best way to hit Obama from both sides, and prop himself up as a hero.

Not a neocon, more of a paleocon, like Pat Buchanan or Steven Sailer.
