Yet Another Deluge of Racial Slurs and Hate Speech at Breitbart “News,” Directed at Jorge Ramos

The right wing base in all its glory
Wingnuts • Views: 67,822

The right wing propagandists at Breitbart “News” are all puffed up like bullfrogs today because they think the Virginia shooter’s racially charged manifesto vindicates their own racially charged incitement as soon as the story broke, before they even knew about the manifesto. They’ve posted one of their typical mixes of whiny victimhood and triumphalism titled: Breitbart News Posts Factual Headline About ‘Race War’ Double Murder, Internet Melts Down.

LGF gets a mention near the end, because I tweeted this:

And I actually stand by this statement completely. In fact, let’s have a look at what’s going on at Breitbart “News” today, where they’re still inciting their knuckle-dragging audience to spew hatred at Univision host Jorge Ramos: Ramos: Trump ‘Tried to Silence Me’ Like in ‘A Dictatorship’.

There are currently almost 4000 comments for this post and they’re just packed with horrible open racism and slurs against Mexicans and Latinos in general. This is the Breitbart business model: keep their readers in a perpetual state of rage, and get them to express it with tens of thousands of hateful comments every single day. They used to make a token effort to moderate some of the worst racists, but those days are gone.

Some excerpts follow, because this kind of rabid hate speech should be called out and nobody else seems to want to do it. (And I guess I don’t blame them; this is truly sickening shit.)

Breitbart’s audience calls Ramos things like “jumping bean,” “donkey,” “uppity,” “Nazi,” etc., and many of them spew, “Go back to Mexico!” — even though Ramos is a US citizen.

Remember, these are the same people who always complain that liberals unfairly smear them as racists.

Bush Ramos 2016
The jumping bean ticket!

[…]

Jorge be silent or be ejected from our country.

[…]

The ironic thing about that comment is the donkey is the one who wants a dictatorship to bring about amnesty against the will of the people

[…]

Mexicans don’t like laws and law enforcement.

[…]

Little jumping bean, go back to Mexico. Your not wanted in the U.S.A.

[…]

What a cry baby liberal nazi activist. Hey, Ramos sit down and shut up you big dope.

[…]

I do not know why you are here in America, since you seem to love Mexico and her illegals so much. Go Back to Mexico and we will be just fine, but please take your illegals and criminals with you. We’ve had too many murders, rapes etc., thanks to your lovely people. Just go away.

[…]

DEPORT UNIVISION AND THE FAKE RAMOS.

[…]

Stupid little socialist brat…Move back to Mexico you filthy liberal parasite! The useless runt (that thinks it is entitled to everyones lives and incomes) doesn’t even understand civility.

[…]

Take your little notepad and haul your butt back to Mexico, and don’t come back.

[…]

Trump didn’t try to silence this jerk. He tried to teach him some manners, like wait your turn! Jorge, please leave the country.

[…]

I hope the first act of president Trump will be to deport Ramos on grounds of subversion

[…]

Jorge, go back to Mexico and report on the Cartels that afflict your country, maybe you can solve that problem, or wind up with your head in your hands with your genitals in your mouth.

[…]

Hey, Ramos, go back to Mexico, or wherever you came from

[…]

He should try those tactics in Mexico! Uppity reporters end up dead and no one investigates.

[…]

RAMOS JUMPED THE LINE JUST LIKE ILLEGALS DO THE FENCE, HE’S AN OPEN BORDER ADVOCATE AND THE FOLKS KNOW IT

Again, these awful comments are just from the first couple of pages. There are thousands more just like these. It’s a deluge of bigotry and hate. The Breitbart business model.

“Those who despise Trump are trying to use the Ramos incident as another example of his immaturity and hostility to those with whom he disagrees,” O’Reilly said. “But if you step back and look at it objectively, who’s really being up front with the American people? An anchorman who has become a political activist? Or a candidate who states his case and takes the heat? You make the call.”

I call “O’Reilly’s a liar and a shill.”

Evening Lizardim. So I got to hang out with a couple of wingnut buddies tonight and listen to them bag on Obama and Hillary all night. That’s all well and good, but if they say one word in defense of His Holy Hairness, I’m going nuclear on them. Univision’s Jorge Ramos: Reporters Need to Get Tougher on Donald Trump

When asked by TIME, ABC News and others about how he would force millions from the country, Trump has so far only offered evasions. “It’s called management,” he told TIME.

Ramos says that sort of non-response is unacceptable from a leading presidential candidate, especially given the number of people who could be affected. “If he wants to do it in the short term, he would need to use the army, use stadiums, public places,” Ramos said. “The only way to do that would be to use trains and buses and airports to deport millions of people. It’s in a scale never seen before in the world. And it is incredibly dangerous.”

The communist manifesto did not see the rich lib gentries as being the main instigators of socialism or the country club conservatives as being so feckless or treacherous to our side. This especially happened since we lower their taxes several times over the past thirty years. If they are going to let in all of those immigrants to impoverish the rest of us and spend all of the money they spend or print the lies that they do in their media I say tax them. No body here does not think rich liberals should not pay their taxes and if the country clubbers are gong to shell out I say let them shell out.

oooo see it’s now ok to raise taxes on the rich cuz they are rich libberuls who want to give your tax money to immigrants

The original purpose of sheltered workshops was to provide people with intellectual disabilities with safe spaces where they could develop skills that would make them employable in integrated settings. But they’ve become a way to profit off the backs of the disabled. And the Feds seem to agree, as the Department of Justice joined on a class action lawsuit against the state of Oregon in 2013 alleging that the state illegally segregates people with disabilities in sheltered workshops.

Extreme Ice Melt Forces Thousands of Walruses Ashore

The extreme loss of Arctic sea ice due to climate change is forcing thousands of walruses to crowd ashore on a remote barrier island off Alaska, and threatening their survival. Barack Obama will be the first US president to visit the Alaskan Arctic on August 31 on a three-day tour to draw attention to the drastic consequences of climate change for the Arctic, such as warming winters and the rapid retreat of sea ice. The US Fish and Wildlife Service said that the first reported sighting of animals forced to come ashore in the Chukchi Sea was by a photographer on August 23, and confirmed by villagers in the remote hamlet of Point Lay late on Thursday. Such landings, forced by the absence of sea ice on which to rest and feed, put the animals at risk of stampede in the limited space of the barrier island.

Anyone speak Spanish who could look?

Interesting what I found. Fox News Latino has 2 sites, English and Spanish. The English one has a header from Trump saying he handled it great. In the Spanish side, the first news is about the SIP defending Ramos.

The code inspectors and build team had a hard time saying it was an error. ;)

Forgot, I thought he’d get…his ass beat, and excommunicated from the church. And yes, make that approving congregation watch an hour or two of gay porn, then take their temperature.

1) this happened in Austin, which is a cesspool of liberalism.
2) this happened in a United Methodist church, which is a cesspool of liberal theology. they’ve taken all of the teachings of Christ out of Christianity and replaced them with namby-pamby post-modern “liberal feel goodisms”.

Henry Rollins in LA Weekly: Bend over America, here comes President Trump

Countless Americans see the recent efforts to neutralize Iran’s nuclear ambitions as mere Neville Chamberlain-esque, Kenyan trickster commie-islamofacism — the workings of an arrogant, Israel-hating tyrant who despises America and wants to open the borders for all his buds in ISIS to stream in by the busload. In fact, they’re probably already here, draining your wallet to buy lobsters, steak and extra Qurans with SNAP coupons, thus robbing your children of their subliterate future.

This is who we are. The world outside of America gets it. Some of them think we’re cool, others think we’re violent morons, but they all know we are not to be fucked with. We are armed, we are dangerous, and we will come over there.

re: #144 Kragar

My birthday was Monday. On Saturday, I had gotten my haircut and the barber said, “Looks like your hair might be thinning in the back here.”

I DON’T WANT TO HEAR THAT!

One of the few positive things I got from my mother’s side is having not to deal with pattern baldness or thinning hair - my brothers all were halfway to being totally bald by the age of 30. In fact, not only do I have a thick mane, it tends to grow rather quickly, which means a trip to the barber at least three times a month to keep it under control. Downside was that I started seeing gray spots when I was in my early 20s, and now it’s salt-and-pepper (mostly salt) up top.

For every case where the evidence seems clear and the gut tells us “this bastard should die” there is another case where the evidence is murky but the alleged crime is still treated as proven. That’s why there should not ever be DP.

The Constitution prohibits “cruel or unusual punishments”. (Not cruel and unusual, like most people quote it.) The death penalty may or may not be cruel, but nobody can deny that these days it’s unusual.

Ah, the first day I was carded was fun.

The day after my 18th birthday (which was the drinking age then) several friends from the campus took me down to the artsy bar to have a few. The owner had an old barber’s chair near the entrance and was sitting in it checking everyone’s ID - the cops had hassled him the night before. So I watched the guy ahead of me - 72 years old btw - get his ID checked and then handed the ID to the bar owner.

He looked at it. Looked up at me. Looked down at my ID again and then threw it at me saying “You SOB.”

I’d been a regular there for about 2 years at that point … ;)

Now, it’s off to the hotel where no carding is needed other than your Madam Visa or Master Card.

Reading the amazon description of Vox Day’s new book “SJWs always lie” was almost like reading a classic antisemitic screed with “Jews” replaced with “SJWs”. The words even look similar. So I decided to look at Vox’s blog to see what he wrote about Jews, if anything (aside from that old posting where he found deporting illegal immigrants feasible because Hitler was able to deport Jews).

So…

voxday.blogspot. com/2011/09/holocaust-surprising-boon-for-jews.html

Holocaust a surprising boon for Jews
Without the Holocaust, would the Jews ever have gotten their own internationally recognized state in Palestine? Would they be able to so easily trump every criticism of a Jew, be it legitimate or illegitimate, by simply crying anti-semitism? Sure, the Tribe would probably still run Hollywood even if there had never been a Holocaust since they created it, but would Ben Shalom be Chairman of the Federal Reserve and would Jews be so heavily represented in the U.S. Senate, the Congress, and the U.S. media without it? Clearly, Jews should be as deeply grateful to Mister Hitler for helpfully slaughtering a few million of their fellows as China’s girls are for a mere 43 million of them being sacrificed to the greater good of their sex:

He will claim that it’s a satirical analogy to the article that he then quotes, but…

voxday.blogspot. com/2014/08/and-why-might-that-be.html

Second, understand that the resurgence of anti-semitism is happening for a reason. What that reason may be is up for discussion, but not that logic dictates its existence. Anti-semitism can be irrational but it is not always so, and pretending otherwise is both disingenuous and futile. The world knows what Ben Bernanke did last summer, so to speak. The world knows who is funding President Goldman Sachs and it understands why the head of a petty state in the Middle East can tell him off and expect him to fall in line. The world knows that the U.S. Congress is Israeli-occupied territory. The world knows who owns Hollywood, the U.S. media, and the bailed-out banks. The world knows who has been flooding its nations with third-world barbarians who don’t even understand the concept of indoor plumbing.

And the world doesn’t like it. Not one little bit. Actions have consequences; the problem is that the consequences are not always proportionate.

[…]

The idea that post-nationalism and demographic divide-and-conquer would make the Jews in America safer was intrinsically wrong, as wrong as the idea that amassing vast wealth and political influence serves as an effective form of community protection for a small minority. People like helpless refugees. People rather like grateful immigrants who settle quietly in their own communities and gradually integrate over time. People hate rich people who tell them what to do. And people really, really hate rich and powerful foreigners with supremacy complexes who tell them what to do while settling criminally-inclined aliens in their neighborhoods.

In successfully attacking the white Anglo-Saxon Protestant nature of America, Jews destroyed the American exceptionalism that offered them protection. Now that it is essentially gone, Jews have not only lost a reliable Gentile shield against global anti-semitism, but aside from Christian Zionists like Sarah Palin who fly the flag of Israel in their churches, the white Anglo-Saxons who previously defended them are no longer much inclined to do so.

So I suspect Vox’s “SJWs” could really be just a moniker for “Jooos”.

The predominant “SJW” griefing strips out Jew references, but otherwise maintains the concepts and architecture of the ur antisemitic myth. Occasionally the “evil Jew” thing sneaks back in, though, because there’s a backed-up shit pipe via which white supremacist ideas are filling the fount.

Basically, it’s a bunch of dudes that think they’re way cleverer than they really are, who like anything simplistic socio-biology-ish pseudoscience if it dictates their inherent superiority and rationality. Racism—and fucked-up “biotruth” sexism—feeds their need to be cocky and not reflect on shit. Though 2nd Bull Run began well for the Union, with the Iron Brigade winning its name by standing firm against several Confederate brigades, it ended badly with a Confederate flanking attack sending Maj. Gen. John Pope’s army running. In the end, Pope lacked Robert Edward Lee’s sense of tactics and timing and his men paid the price for Pope’s failings.

Though I appreciate your knowledge of the military tactics of the day, I was simply pointing out the human cost. Believe me, I know those things. I’ve read McPhearson, Catton, Foote, a few others. Those generals are held in high regard, their tactics taught at West Point. I’m not saying you’re doing this at all but I think sometimes people forget about the ordinary soldier, the ones that were pulverized on that wall in Fredericksburg, the ones that were systematically cut down marching across a field in Gettysburg. Sometimes people need a kick in the pants and see the sheer numbers. We mustn’t forget the Civil War after all.

I don’t know who is worse in the MRA movement - Weev or hardcore misogynist Roosh V (famous for openly advocating rape as a tactic to make women subservient to males). The latest post that Futrelle has made reports on Roosh’s observations of his own fanbase:

Roosh V: It’s just a matter of time before one of my fans commits a mass shooting

What’s really telling about his mindset is that he doesn’t think that he should temper his violent misogyny, but in the aftermath of another mass-violence event (which he labels as “emergencies”), his readers shouldn’t discuss their approval of same publicly, because that would just make him look bad:

No one here embraces or encourages violence during peace time, though sometimes we try to empathize with frustrated males who believe they have nothing to lose. During emergencies, you can share any empathy with such killers through private message.

I happened on a Law and Order SVU episode with Pablo Scheiber. It is end of season 14 and throughout season 15 and holy cow. Just excellent episodes and he’s is amazing in them. If you don’t know who he is, he is in OITNB. He plays “pornstache”, one of the guards.

Anyway, I recommend you watch:

Season 14:24, 15:1, 15:10, 15:20 and 21.

G’night all.

So, how’s your evening? Tonight my daughter’s dog knocked two boards out of the back fence and caught a skunk. He came slinking back stinking to high heaven. He got the full blast of the skunks glands. He was rinsed with peroxide and bathed and he still stinks…bad. He’s most likely going to smell for a whole year. He does seem humbled from the experience, although not enough to not do it again I’m sure.

Tomato juice is the only thing I have ever seen that helps against skunk.

Thank you for your fairness, because I do remember the ordinary soldiers. That’s why I said it was Pope’s men who paid the price. Pope was sent west to quell a Sioux rebellion and didn’t even lose rank for his failure. It’s true he never lead a real field army again, but he never suffered for his foolishness either.

So I do see your point entirely.

What I want to know is the psychology of a man like Ambrose Burnside. His command led to the unspeakable slaughter of many men. How does a man live with himself and those decisions? A century and a half later, we have few clues. Psychology wasn’t even a thing in the mid 19th century.

Lincoln. What was his psychology? Andrew Jackson. How did their minds work? Jefferson. We only know from their writings and public records, which is but a small piece in their psychology. Washington was 6’ 4”, big dude, and he was shy and sometimes withdrawn. Andrew Jackson had a hell of a temper, you did not want to piss off Andrew Jackson. Teddy Roosevelt was a reckless horseman, think “Hey guys, watch this!”

Lincoln suffered personal tragedy throughout his life. He was president during the Civil War. I think the man was clinically depressed, his wife too. It was that well of sorrow in his mind that begat the amazing oratory and timeless words of some of his speeches, especially his Second Inaugural Address.

re: #260 teleskiguy

Lincoln’s Great Depression

Lincoln did suffer from what we now call depression, as modern clinicians, using the standard diagnostic criteria, uniformly agree. But this diagnosis is only the beginning of a story about how Lincoln wrestled with mental demons, and where it led him. Diagnosis, after all, seeks to assess a patient at just a moment in time, with the aim of treatment. But Lincoln’s melancholy is part of a whole life story; exploring it can help us see that life more clearly, and discern its lessons. In a sense, what needs “treatment” is our own narrow ideas—of depression as an exclusively medical ailment that must be, and will be, squashed; of therapy as a thing dispensed only by professionals and measured only by a reduction of pain; and finally, of mental trials as a flaw in character and a disqualification for leadership.

Throughout its three major stages—which I call fear, engagement, and transcendence—Lincoln’s melancholy upends such views. With Lincoln we have a man whose depression spurred him, painfully, to examine the core of his soul; whose hard work to stay alive helped him develop crucial skills and capacities, even as his depression lingered hauntingly; and whose inimitable character took great strength from the piercing insights of depression, the creative responses to it, and a spirit of humble determination forged over decades of deep suffering and earnest longing.

Fucking hell. I’m not going to go on a downding rampage, but that shit pisses me off.

I know some female gamers. Do you know how I know them? I had to deal with them for months, even years before they told me. Because they don’t want to deal with the harassment they get just by being female, much less for acting . And that was before groups like 4chan started their organized dickbag brigading.

Look at who GG was created by, and what it was created for, KiTA. A pissed-off ex accused his ex of fucking people for good press, based on no fucking evidence and he took that viral. Never mind that she didn’t get the press he was claiming she got. That has no place in the narrative.

Look at who GG attracts and how they behave, Nero and Cernovich and fucking weev…never mind that Milo and Cernovich wrote shit trashing all gamers in general before they became part of it…because they could use them for their own purposes, which have nothing to do with ethics anywhere.

Look at GGs actions and who they target, Wu, Sarkeesian, for example, they are targeted not for being unethical in advertising video games. They’re targeted for even trying to discuss how women and minorities are treated in games, and they’re targeted in ways that show that Wu and Sarkeesian et al are EXACTLY RIGHT with every criticism they have, and, if anything, they are being extraordinarily mild with their criticisms.

KiTA, GG is lousy with sexists, racists, homophobes and transphobes…yes, I know you have lots of <minority group> in your group, you realize that’s just a group-level of “I have black friends”, right?
I recall at least one transgender person that WAS a gator, until she pointed out that maybe GG shouldn’t associate with someone (Milo) that was a transphobe that neither likes games nor gamers. GG turned on someone who WAS a gamer, in favor of someone who hates gamers, because they put their hatred of transgender people above their love of gaming. This is what GG is now, and until those that guide it get those elements under control, its never going to be about more than that.

And last…the journalist collusion argument. I should dismiss that with just a J. Jonah Jameson laugh. But I’m not. Yes, there’s an email list…and? As though no other organization has an email list for people that are part of it…

But the whole “Death of Gamers” stories…

Shut up. Did you read the stories?

Read the head…

Shut up. You didn’t bother reading the stories.

Its in the he

*flips table*
The WHOLE point of the story was that gamers were no longer stereotypical gamers. You know, fucking entitled white neckbeards who are only friends with other entitled white neckbeards and can’t tolerate any disagreement. It was the death of the stereotype of the gamer, not gamers, you twit. What was the response of gamers? To act…like entitled white neckbeards who can’t handle any change in their worldview.

Good job. Now I can’t identify as a gamer because normal people immediately think I’m one of those entitled white neckbeards. GG has done more to kill gamers than any story they could have written.

But there was a bunch of stories, it was collusion

Have you ever noticed that people tend to talk about the same things in the same way? That doesn’t prove collusion, it proves they act like normal people.

A kind of flash protest in Melbourne today contributed to the cancellation of Operation Fortitude, in which agents from the Australian Border Force, working alongside state police, would patrol the CBD and challenge anyone they ‘crossed paths with’ to produce ID sufficient to prove legal residency.

My first thoughts were of Arizona and Jan Brewer, so my initial reaction was one of disgust. There are quite a few people who are entirely at ease with the idea of Federal police demanding identification if it means intimidating the part of the population that might rightly fear being racially profiled.
A lot of the comments about Stalin and Nazi Germany that I’ve heard from the usual quarters is way off, but it’s case in which the slippery slope argument has value.

So…

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s legal woes - he’s currently under criminal indictment for three counts of felony securities fraud, with a maximum jail time of 99 years on each count - just took another hit. And it’s safe to say this one is rather embarrassing to him.

Paxton’s defense attorney walks away as client faces felonies

FORT WORTH - The first sign of trouble for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton came when he walked in to the courtroom Thursday without his attorney by his side.

Moments later, it became clear why that might have been the case. His attorney, former federal judge Joe Kendall, announced he was withdrawing.

“I have informed my client about my decision, in that regard,” Paxton’s lead defense attorney Joe Kendall, told the judge. “There are issues in this matter that make my continued representation something I don’t want to personally persist in.”

His own (now former) defense attorney using those specific words makes one wonder how slimy of an individual Paxton actually is - especially given he was a former federal judge himself, and full well would know the weight of such statements given.

Bad news for McDonalds.

Basically, the NLRB just decided that in instances where a company is franchised, both the Franchise AND the Parent company count as the employer. That means that McDonalds can now be pulled into Labor and Unionization disputes whereas before they were able to hide behind the fact that each McDonalds is owned by someone else.

Labor unions and worker advocacy groups have been hoping for just such a decision. In their view, since companies like McDonald’s influence the working conditions in their franchised stores, they should be legally accountable to the workers who wear their logos, even if it’s a franchisee that’s technically signing the paychecks. Bringing companies at the top of the contracting chain to the table will help restore corporate responsibility in a “fissured” economy, advocates say.

The franchise lobby, meanwhile, has been warning for months that a ruling like this one would doom the business model. Franchisers argue that naming parent companies as joint employers would force them to take more control from their franchisees to contend with new liabilities. The lobby has worked hard to paint the “joint employer” standard as something that will hurt small business owners, not fast-food giants and other name brands.

re: #275 KiTA

OK, KiTA, I took a look at your twitter TL and I have a question, if you don’t mind.

But first the preliminaries.

1. You retweeted this from Mike Cernovich:

Cernovich is an extremely bigoted creep.

Some examples:

A quick look at his blog crimeandfederalism com shows him to be an paleocon white nationalist, to boot.

2. You retweeted this from Milo Y.:

Milo doesn’t need to be introduced to the Lizards. He’s an ultraconservative, bigoted, racist piss stain that works for Breitbart (but I repeat myself). Enough said.

3.

Vox Day is basically a neo-fascist twit. I could create a long list of what is wrong with him, but this one example should suffice.

4. Then there is this:

You followed Roosh too.

Roosh V in his own words:

rooshv. com/how-to-stop-rape

I thought about this problem and am sure I have the solution: make rape legal if done on private property. I propose that we make the violent taking of a woman not punishable by law when done off public grounds.

The exception for public rape is aimed at those seedy and deranged men who randomly select their rape victims on alleys and jogging trails, but not as a mechanism to prevent those rapes, since the verdict is still out if punishment stops a committed criminal mind, but to have a way to keep them off the streets. For all other rapes, however, especially if done in a dwelling or on private property, any and all rape that happens should be completely legal.

If rape becomes legal under my proposal, a girl will protect her body in the same manner that she protects her purse and smartphone. If rape becomes legal, a girl will not enter an impaired state of mind where she can’t resist being dragged off to a bedroom with a man who she is unsure of—she’ll scream, yell, or kick at his attempt while bystanders are still around. If rape becomes legal, she will never be unchaperoned with a man she doesn’t want to sleep with. After several months of advertising this law throughout the land, rape would be virtually eliminated on the first day it is applied.

Then there’s this:

While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she legally couldn’t give her consent. It didn’t help matters that I was relatively sober, but I can’t say I cared or even hesitated. I won’t rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do.

Oh, and that fine fellow is an open antisemite too.

Now, unlike many people, I don’t think that participation in “gamergate” *automatically* means someone is a bad person. The prior probability is very significant (esp. by now, due to self-selection), but if someone supports gamergate only because of this (whatever else one might think of that as a reason) rather than any BS about who slept with whom, and if that person keeps away from misogyny and other bigotry (which would be a feat by now), and from the right-wing piles of slime like Vox Day, Milo Whatsisname, Roosh V and Mike Cernovich, I will think of them as probably just misguided rather than probably bigoted assholes. (Granted, this is unlikely, but still.)

So, given the facts outlined above, could you explain why you should be given the benefit of the doubt?

Suffice it to say, I do not find my views on GamerGate to be in any way conflicting with my progressive ideals. I’ve tried to explain why I feel that, but the well has been poisoned by Gawker’s “Gamers Are Dead” offensive and it’s just not worth the argument.

Neither one of us is going to change each other’s opinions or views, outside of me being reminded that the Social Justice Warrior nutjobs that we’ve been fighting lately don’t represent the mainstream any more than Vox Day represents all conservative authors.

Ike could play lots of golf because he didn’t govern during a populist time, and because he’d cemented his bonefidies in a way that could not be challenged by commanding the armies that landed in Normandy then did the Western Allies’ part of the job of grinding Nazi Germany to dust.

Now is a more populist time, and that coupled with their not having a superlative aprior achievement is why George W. and Jeb Bush both have avoided being seen playing golf and have preferred to be seen throwing a baseball. Baseball is seen as more an activity of the people and golf is still often seen as a game of the rich.

re: #304 Dark_Falcon

Ike could play lots of golf because he didn’t govern during a populist time, and because he’d cemented his bonefidies in a way that could not be challenged by commanding the armies that landed in Normandy then did the Western Allies’ part of the job of grinding Nazi Germany to dust.

Now is a more populist time, and that coupled with their not having a superlative aprior achievement is why George W. and Jeb Bush both have avoided being seen playing golf and have preferred to be seen throwing a baseball. Baseball is seen as more an activity of the people and golf is still often seen as a game of the rich.

So maybe Donald Trump should sell his golf courses and buy the New York Mets.

You don’t need to go quite so far back. Thomas Dewey, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Gerald Ford.

None of whom wouldn’t even get elected as so much as municipal dogcatcher in today’s GOP, sad to say.

All right, all right everyone. Obviously I meant someone who is living and breathing.
About the only person I could come up with was George H.W. Bush, but even he has to foot some of the blame to the modern state of the GOP, since it was his administration who opened the door wide open to the Dick Cheney neo-cons and evangelical Christian factions of the party.

Oh, and you apparently missed the second Roosh quote in my comment where he writes himself that by the American legal standards he totally raped that girl.

I was there a few years back and got treated to several bear sightings - a grizzly munching down on a kill in a meadow near one of the many streams near Tower Falls. Saw one running after a herd of bison near Madison heading towards West Yellowstone. Even saw a couple of black bears, including one at the Mammoth hot springs path.

Saw more wildlife there than anywhere else I’ve traveled. It’s an amazing thing.

Missed out on seeing bighorn sheep though.

Can’t complain though - because there’s just so much to see, if you care to look.

So what is this McDonalds / Contractor ruling going to do for businesses in America? Doesn’t Walmart do the Contractor shuffle to screw over their warehouse workers?

I know when Dell closed down in Twin we were replaced by a Dell owned subsidiary employing people at Minimum wage in Florida. Wonder if that sort of thing will end now that there’s no benefit in it.

Except, by Roosh’s own words, he is, by almost any definition of the term, a rapist.

While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she legally couldn’t give her consent. It didn’t help matters that I was relatively sober, but I can’t say I cared or even hesitated. I won’t rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do.

And, yes, where was Gamergate when every fucking game by a “triple-A” publisher gets a 5 star or 10/10, when they’re shit games made by shit people for shit reasons, those ALL got a pass until GG started, and GG STILL gives them a pass.
But if an indie developer says that “hey, maybe we concentrate too much on tits in games”, RUIN HER LIFE, and its almost ALWAYS a her.

On-call scheduling is a retail practice that looks great on a store’s budget on paper, but wrecks employees’ lives in real life. Gap Inc. is the third major retailer in recent months that has announced that they’re ending the practice across all of their brands, after months working on what they call “sustainable scheduling practices.”

On-call scheduling means that a worker will be on a store’s schedule, but won’t necessarily have to work, depending on how busy the store is that day. It’s a nice cost-savings measure, but very inconvenient for employees, who can’t make plans during their on-call times, can’t be put on the schedule at other jobs, may have to arrange child care, and in the end may be sent home early, or may not be called in to make any money for that shift at all.

Meanwhile, in Illinois…..

Two people are dead from an unknown hazardous material inside a home near Des Plaines.

John Tae Kim, 83, and Hong Kyqkim, 53, were found dead inside a home on the 9400 block of West Harrison Street in Maine Township, police say.

A woman was also found unresponsive in the house. She was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

A relative of the victims called 911 to report three people in distress around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. When officers entered the house, they began to suffer respiratory problems. Four officers were hospitalized and released later in the day.

If Gamergate gave one rat’s ass about the decade of non-stop payola grift that consumer raping game corporations like Blizzard and EA have gotten away with from rubber stamping publications like IGN, I might have been willing to give it a modicum of respect. But no, instead it’s about some indie low level designers who know some people from indie oriented game reviewing websites outside of work. I’m just like, how fucking pollyanna in denial of basic goddamned reality do you have to be to choose that as the thing to get outraged over?

What really is sad about this statement is that the software companies you mention, the three involved - Electronic Arts and Blizzard - Activision are classic examples of ones who literally lost their way from their founding principles.

William!

Walleye are of the Perch family. Northern Pike are a different species and include Pickerel and Muskellunge. Sheesh. I expect better of a Wisconsinite. : )

Crappie are great eating. Nice and mild. Bluegills are great. And Yellow Perch too!

Species vs common names, I know. Around here they call them Walleyed Pike even though they’re perch. I do also like eating Northern though even less often than walleye (mercury build up in top level predator fish) though the bone are a pain. But oh, that fish is worth pulling them out. Lots of folks around here chase Musky but I’d rather something I can eat since I don’t enjoy fishing all that much.

(I can hunt all day and not have anything to show and have had a great day. But if I get dragged out to go fishing I better get a nice meal out of it.).

Read the comments section at deadspin. They do a brilliant job handling the derp.

She is an expert in sports journalism because she studied it at 5 different colleges

Ms. Palin does understand that this situation arose precisely because Schilling didn’t stick to sports, right?

Look, I’m not much into defending ESPN for, well, anything, but isn’t ‘sticking to sports’ exactly what it is attempting to do in this circumstance? It doesn’t need on-air talent (oh lord, did I just refer to Schilling as “talent”?!) to be espousing polarizing political views, from either end of the spectrum, in a public forum. Stick to sports.

I’m under the impression that she wrote this in Comic Sans.

I’ll never forget a Pickerel dinner I had a long time ago at a restaurant in Vermilion, Ohio that was just fantastic. Since Pickerel never get the same size as a Pike, they don’t ahve the bug bones, more like a Walleye. That was all the way back in the 60s…I doubt you can even find a Pickerel to be served in a restaurant commercially any longer.

My one (dearly departed now) friend and I were very good pan fishermen around central Ohio. Nothing better than a small spinning reel loaded with 1 or 2 pound testline a small Cherrystick rod a bunch of tiny wiggle-tail jigs and a lake full of 10” Bluegill and 12-14” Crappie.

And we’d spend a lot of time also talking politics and philosophy. Great times.

I haven’t seen this in the Anglo press, so I’ll throw it in here as a public service.

While accepting an award in Spain, actor Antonio Banderas had some sharp words about Donald Trump.

(CNNMéxico) - The accusations of Republican White House hopeful Donald Trump against Mexican immigrants ‘snuck’ into the Platino Awards Gala, held in Marbella, Spain, in which Antonio Banderas made a vigorous defense of Latinos and Latin American culture.

“Despite the insane willingness of Mr. Donald Trump to kick us in our ass (…) we have the powerful advantage of being united against anyone,” said the Spanish actor of the American tycoon, who in his campaign for the Republican nomination for President of the USA has expressed harsh criticism of Mexican immigrants and has defended the need to build a “great wall” along the southern border of the country.

Banderas, who received a Platino de Honor, recalled that it was when he arrived in Hollywood that he understood the “real size, and the undoubted potential of the unstoppable force of Latinos.”

Translated. Original version here mexico.cnn.com with video tambien.

The presenters got their digs in, too.

Spanish actor Imanol Arias, who presented the show with the Colombian-Mexican actress Alessandra Rosaldo, added, “because we are 600 million …”. He left the sentence unfinished, and Arciénaga encouraged him to finish it. Arias then added sarcastically: “… criminals.”

I thought Medicaid didn’t cover abortions?

The regulation at issue sought to circumvent a 2001 decision by the Alaska Supreme Court that the state Medicaid program must cover abortions determined by a physician to be medically necessary. The ruling also redefined those conditions that would qualify as “medically necessary.”

407
I Stand With Planned Parenthood  Aug 28, 2015 • 8:20:48am
The law further limited that definition to include only a serious risk of death or “impairment of a major bodily function” caused by one of 21 different conditions, such as a coma, seizures, and epilepsy. It also included a more general category for “another physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy that places the woman in danger of death or major bodily impairment if an abortion is not performed.”

After defending the right of Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis to refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples because of her religious beliefs, IL asked Westerfield if he also would have the right to not enforce certain laws as attorney general if they violated his religious beliefs.

“I do,” said Westerfield, who added that he would enforce laws if even they went against his personal beliefs. “And I guess if I thought the state didn’t use its least restrictive means to meet a compelling interest, I suppose that right exists for everybody. But for the clerks we haven’t yet met the state’s part of that burden. We’ve got to show we’ve used the least restrictive means to issue marriage licenses, and we’re not.”

I think IL means to say that Westerfield support Davis’ rights to not issue the marriage licenses (not that IL supports Davis). Do I have that right?

I wonder what Westerfield thinks is a less “restrictive” means for gay Kentuckians to get marriage licenses? Maybe supporting clergy could approve the licenses themselves. But I don’t think that would fly if the clerks could issue licenses to couples they prefer and deny them to others. Unequal treatment, hello.

Quick translation:
The United States, who we have to recognize as having given possibilities to Latin talent little by little, some of which are present, we benefit from this, give to Caesar what belongs to him, and to the Hispanics what is ours. It’s there, I repeat, where I understand the true dimension, the universal character, the indubitable potential and the in-containable force of what is Latino. It’s the place where, despite the unhealthy and absolutely reproachable interest of Donald Trump to kick our asses, a crucible of communities gather that speak the language of Cervantes, who not only enrich the cultural life of the country, but also the values supported in their dignity, hard work, sacrifice, and the enormous satisfaction of feeling together against no person, effectively without conflicts and with an open heart, with curiosity as their flag, and with the clear idea that even though we all love our countries of origin, we can without doubt embrace the idea of what is Latino and the pride of feeling as Hispanics. I believe that these Latino awards are a platform to start a journey to consolidate the respect that Latino cinematography has earned, which allows us to re-vindicate our language in its productions, and strengthens us to compete in an equal base of conditions. No more, no less. No one will value us if we don’t value ourselves first. I’ll finish with Cervantes and his Don Quijote, who from his dreamy and sometimes lucid mind said “Since you’re not experienced in the things of the world, everything that has some difficulty will seem impossible. Trust in time, which provides sweet conclusions to many bitter difficulties.” Thank you.

The existence of sane, even liberal, Republicans in the not-too-remote past is the main reason I am not worried at all that the destruction of the Tea Party and the wingnut bigot factions will leave this country a one party state.
We must apply all our efforts to stamping out the media-driven hate virus that infects the GOP today, and let the patient recover as it will.
In time, Republicans will come to treat Tea Party nuts much the same way Democrats treat the Dixiecrats and the “Solid South” segregationists. Some Tea Partiers may be able to repent and mend their ways, as many, many Solid South Democratic racists did, and become accepted members of civilized society again.

I’m so freaking tired of the “women were made for it” mind set.

I was not meant for it. Pregnancy and childbirth are still the worst experiences of my life. I wouldn’t force it on anyone —much less a child.

Televangelist Jim Bakker invited messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn onto his program yesterday to discuss Cahn’s assertion that a major disaster will (or possibly won’t) strike America in September, which also happened to be a great opportunity for Bakker to hawk his massive buckets of survival food.

—SNIP—

Cahn replied that he had not, saying “it’s almost like every factor, everything pointing to judgment, pointing to shaking, is happening now,” including “America’s gigantic accelerating apostasy,” the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage, the U.S. being “on the verge of abandoning Israel,” and the beginning of the “Shemitah” year in the Jewish calendar, which Cahn has linked to any number of events in world history.

The “last harbinger,” he said, is the completion of One World Trade Center at the site of the collapsed Twin Towers, which he called the “embodiment of defiance” against God, because the September 11 attacks were a divine warning that America ignored.

re: #421 taserian

Es mas mejor que el mio.

Blast from the past, white nationalist Robert Stacy McCain on Emmett Till:

eschatonblog.com

[W]hatever happened in that grocery store, it was something more than Till merely “whistling at a white woman.” Please note that the store was also the home of Bryant’s family.

Now, I have been repeatedly accused of “minimizing” or “justifying” Till’s death, which was not at all my purpose. I was complaining — go back to Post and look — about the way the Post article was minimizing, if I may use the word, what transpired between Till and Carolyn Bryant. The Saturday article, echoing the liberal myth of Emmett Till, suggested that all he had done was “whistle at a white woman.” But he had done substantially more than that. He had gone into the Bryants’ place of business — into their family home, no less — and insulted the wife of the proprietor, had made “lewd advances,” as Carolyn Bryant testified under oath, and then boasted about this to all his friends.

Roy Bryant’s response to this provocation was brutal and criminal, certainly. Whatever the opposite of “railroaded” might be, that would be a fair description of the acquittal of Bryant and Milam. But in what sense can Emmett Till’s mother justify describing her son as “a sacrifical lamb”? And, in the larger view, how has Emmett Till come to be a demigod in the civil rights pantheon? What perverted sort of “social justice” includes the right to enter a man’s home and insult his wife?

If you would stop pointing fingers and calling names long enough to think seriously about these questions, perhaps you could understand what I’m trying to say.

—————————-

I am not justifying anything. I was trying to make two major points:

1. Till was not killed merely for “whistling at a white woman.” That phrase has attached itself to Till’s name, suggesting that he was killed as the result of some casual encounter on the street — which is simply not true.

2. Till’s killers were the husband and brother-in-law of the woman whom Till insulted. It wasn’t the Klan. It wasn’t a racist mob. It wasn’t some evil redneck sheriff. This was a personal crime, rather than a public crime.

To repeat what I have said in earlier posts: Emmett Till was not killed at random for the crime of being black. He was not hanged on the public square for advocating nonviolent social change. He was kidnapped and murdered by two men who felt that he had personally wronged them.

The point here is not to provide a “justification” for this crime. Rather, the point is to say that the meaning of Till’s death has been distorted by propagandists who wish to use Emmett Till as a symbol of civil rights. I am saying that the facts of the case simply do not support that interpretation. While the acquittal of Till’s killers said something about the unfairness of the criminal justice system in Mississippi, Till’s death itself did not exemplify the values which some have attributed to it.

Was Emmett Till wrongly murdered? Of course. But thousands of Americans are murdered every year. Being a victim of murder, however, does not qualify one for sainthood.

Till’s mother said her son was a “sacrificial lamb.” But this construction wrongly imputes innocence and religious purpose to the victim. Till was not innocent. He was not merely walking down the street one day, selected at random, and killed simply because he was black. Till in fact was killed in response to his own action, by two men whose interest in him was specific and personal. Emmett Till was not killed while sitting in at a Woolworth’s lunch counter or marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge or engaged in any other act of civil disobedience. Emmett Till was not killed as the result of his quest for civil rights, unless you consider insulting women to be a civil right.

The horrific nature of Emmett Till’s death — kidnapped at gunpoint rom his relative’s home in the dark of night, tortured and murdered — is not at issue. What is at issue is whether Till was a hero or martyr. Given the circumstances, I find it impossible to consider him such, and question whether any other rational person could do so.

—————————

Was Till’s killing racially motivated? Certainly, at least in part — just as Till’s initial action toward Carolyn Bryant was racially motivated. Till thought he could impress his relatives and friends by defying the customs of rural Mississippi. He succeeded too well. Roy Bryant returned home to find that Till’s insulting behavior toward his wife was the talk of the community. Not merely was this a challenge to Bryant’s personal honor, but to the peculiar community standards of that place and time. Roy Bryant either had to do something about Till, or become a pariah and/or a laughingstock in his community.

Now, it is likely that no would wish to return to the community standards and customs that apertained in rural Mississippi in 1955, when the Bryant brothers could kill Emmett Till and be judged not guilty by a jury of their peers. But Emmett Till’s insult to Carolyn Bryant was a personal wrong, and the murder of Emmett Till was a very personal murder. He was not a martyr for “civil rights,” unless you consider it a civil right to insult women.

I am a gamer. I have played video games since I was a kid, and I love them. They’re a great escape.

I’m a woman. And sometimes I really do wish that game companies remembered that lots of gamers are female. So I actually think that some of the critiques out there are pretty justified, and I’m happy to see a push for more representation. I’m sure that by the standards of GG, this makes me not a real gamer, but instead a SJW bent on destroying their identity.

But I game. I have since I was a kid. It’s just that, unlike the white boys and men, I have done it from outside the default. I’ve learned to keep my gender under wraps. A lot of times, I just deal with it, because that’s what you do as a woman gamer. But sometimes, I acknowledge that that sucks.

Of course, if casual games are included, women actually game far more than men. But you’ll find a lot of “gamers” who don’t consider those “real gamers.” And I still don’t understand how if it was really about “ethics in gaming journalism” like the true believers claim, the push for representation in gaming matters to them - but I know it does, and that SJWs and feminists are quite high on their shit list.

BTW, CCJ worships/praises Trump and goes full birther in one of the biggest turd piles ever:

ANALYSIS: The Trump Effect In Our Age of The Troll

Win or lose, Donald Trump has already changed our politics forever by showing Americans how much fun the process can be. This fun is infectious and altogether uncommon in a culture that long ago (sadly) gave up the three-martini lunch. Trump, by the way, is regrettably a teetotaler though he has the best of tastes in women. Even his ex-lover former Penthouse pet Sandra Taylor championed his sexual prowess.

[…]

Every presidential candidacy is a response to the presidency that came before it. Trump then is the anti-Obama. Whereas Obama was manufactured by Hollywood and actually designed for us, Trump is free to say what he thinks—even if it’s about the president himself. Of course no one serious still believes that Obama’s father is the Kenyan Barack Obama. He’s the son of communist Frank Marshall Davis, not the Kenyan. Donald Trump is the son of an affordable housing magnate.

[…]

Of course I don’t think any of that will happen. Trump has always wanted to run for president and he’s clearly enjoying every minute of it but whether or not he wants to be president is another story altogether. How deeply interesting it’ll be when President Ted Cruz, born in Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother, takes over from where Trump left off.

Have an airsickness bag handy when you read this turd.

MrBWS just got the call…the crews are heading to Florida at 7 am tomorrow so they are in place and ready to go when Erika lands (which means he’ll have to head back to Cincinnati later today).
Good thing we got his laundry started when he got home last night, and I got today’s main meal (butter chicken) started about an hour ago.

These are some of the most hateful right wing creeps I know of. I honestly find it very disturbing that you apparently support what they do, and there’s NO way to reconcile “progressive values” with that.

Retweeting Milo Y’s “Project Harpoon” crap amounts to approval of misogyny and fat-shaming. Not very progressive at all.

re: #504 KGxvi

The gunfuckers are already essentially blaming anyone who gets killed in a mass shooting, any woman who gets raped - anybody, anywhere who gets killed, or robbed or has any violence perpetrated on them - for not being armed. The whole thing is crazy, because what it boils down to is:

I have a right to own a gun, which gov’t can’t infringe in any way.

Because of that right, Gov’t can’t impose any kind of checks or limitations on sales.

Because of this, there are hundreds of millions of guns in America.

Because there are hundreds of millions of guns in America, anyone who wants to use one for any nefarious purpose can easily get ahold of one.

Because of this, we need more guns to protect ourselves from the people who have guns because we can’t allow any kind of checks or limitations on sales.

Because of this, there are even more and even more dangerous guns out there.

Because of this, anyone who ISN’T armed is taking an unacceptable risk with their lives.

Because of this, we need even more and even more dangerous guns.

It’s a feed-forward activation loop.

Like I said yesterday, if the GOP could have just kept it in their pants and let Obama do everything he could to help the economy, the recovery would be long in the past and we’d be ready for another recession they could blame the Democrats for in 2016. They used to be a lot better at this. The oil companies refused to even deliver low prices for the 2008 election, like they always do to help Republicans. So now the theory is, low gas prices hurt the economy. We’ll see if the sheep buy it…

Someone’s got her glasses on too tight:

S.E. Cupp: ‘Trump Is the Result of Liberal Political Correctness Run Amok’

Thanks to unrelenting demands by the left for increasingly preposterous levels of political correctness over the past decade, people are simply fed up. Trump survives — nay, thrives! — because he is seen as the antidote, bravely and unimpeachably standing athwart political correctness…

If not for the loony sensitivities foisted upon us by the left, someone like Trump would be immediately dismissed as unprofessional and unserious, an incoherent blurter. Instead, he’s the equally extreme response to extreme correctness — if everything is offensive in Liberalville, then nothing will be offensive in Trumpland.

Right. Because the RWNJ nutters haven’t spent the last 7+ years bleating and braying about how RINOs and squishy establishment Republicans weren’t conservative enough, and if they’d just talk like REAL MURICA then they would’ve beaten Obama.

I must have just imagined all of that.

re: #289 Dark_Falcon

I figured you might say that and I don’t believe it. I know the rot that’s gotten in the GOP, but the party has history and talent that Gamergate lacks and that gives it a chance to recover. It retains history and identity outside of haters and Trumpeting, while sad to say “ethics in game reviewing” never developed either.

It is true that the GOP has had its useful moments, unlike Gamergate which started in misogynist filth and never improved.

However, all of the trend lines for the GOP are tending toward increasing rot. Where will GOP reform come from? Crushing defeat is the usual spur for reform, but the GOP cannot experience a defeat large enough to force reform as long as non-wingnut GOPers continue to vote the party line.
