Donald Trump Says We May Need to Shut Down Some US Mosques

The xenophobe’s xenophobe
Politics • Views: 53,322

Xenophobic Republican candidate Donald Trump is working hard to capitalize on the Paris attacks, saying on Morning Joe that we need to “watch and study the mosques” here in the US.

“You’re going to have to watch and study the mosques, because a lot of talk is going on at the mosques,” the GOP presidential candidate said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“And from what I heard, in the old days — meaning a while ago — we had great surveillance going on in and around mosques in New York City,” Trump added….He also suggested that he would consider shutting down some mosques in the U.S. in order to defeat ISIS, reiterating a point he made during an interview last month on Fox Business.

“I would hate to do it, but it’s something that you’re going to have to strongly consider because some of the ideas and some of the hatred, the absolute hatred, is coming from these areas,” Trump said.

Trump is saying these things because he has a finger squarely on the pulse of the ignorant propagandized Republican voting base, and he knows by this point that there’s nothing too bigoted for him to say. The base eats this stuff up.

I feel like we are witnessing the extended cut of “Braveheart”:

They can take our lives, but they can never take our FREEDOM!….unless they engage in clandestine terror attacks, and then we’ll voluntarily cede our religious freedom, run roughshod over our allegedly inviolate founding document, and hide like scared babies.

If ‘where is the hate coming from’ is the standard used, we need to shut down the Republican Party ASAP.

Yes, a “great” surveillance program that reportedly never generated a single lead.

I could tell you that I have never made a lead from rhetoric that came
from a Demographics report and I’m here since 2006. I don’t recall other ones prior to my arrival. Again, that’s always a possibility. I am not aware of any.

Attacking Islam, Muslims and mosques gives these madmen legitimacy they do not deserve. Hell, in WWII we forced the Japanese Emperor to renounce his divinity. Why? Because it made him legitimate

Rather than attacking all Muslims we should be ostracizing these lunatics from religion altogether.

Indeed, I’ve seen a gotcha reverse of this but that ignores one thing, we gun control advocates aren’t trying to make gun owners second class citizens because of acts commtied by other gun owners.

So here’s a thought to keep us safe. Let’s just lock up all males between the ages of perhaps 16 and 30. That will take care of a huge percentage of terrorists (religious and otherwise) and the garden variety criminals as well.

What? You think this might result in resentment on the part of those men when they are released into society? I’m sure they will understand that it is for the good of the nation. Besides, we can teach them skills while they’re locked up and they’ll get good jobs when they get out. Maybe we can even let some volunteer for the military while they are being monitored. We can work out the details later.

I think that’s — I don’t understand it. That would be like saying we weren’t at war with the Nazis, because we were afraid to offend some Germans who may have been members of the Nazi Party, but weren’t violent themselves.

We are at war with radical Islam, with an interpretation of Islam by a significant number of people around the world, who they believe now justifies them in killing those who don’t agree with their ideology. This is a clash of civilizations.

And as I said at the debate earlier this week, there is no middle ground on this. Either they win or we win. And we need to begin to take this seriously. These are individuals motivated by their faith.

Of course all Muslims are not members of violent jihadist groups. But there is a global jihadist movement in the world, motivated by their interpretation of Islam, in this case, Sunni Islam — in the case of ISIS. And it needs to be confronted for what it is. This is not a geopolitical movement.

Police are investigating several threats made over the weekend against Muslim houses of worship.

A caller left a threatening voice mail message that referred to the massacre about 7 p.m. Friday at the Islamic Society of St. Petersburg, Florida — which canceled Sunday school over safety concerns.

“This act in France is the last straw,” the caller warned. “You’re going to f*cking die.”

“I personally have a militia that’s going to come down to your Islamic Society of Pinellas County and firebomb you, shoot whoever’s there on sight in the head,” the caller added. “I don’t care if they’re f*cking 2 years old or 100.”

The state’s chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations reported that a similar threat was made against another mosque by a caller who threatened to “bomb your f*king location” and “shoot people at will.”

It just occurred to me that we can probably recruit a lot more agents from among the refugees than the terror gangs could hope to slip in with them.
There is plenty of precedent for this. A big percentage of OSS and British SOE operatives were refugees, for example, and refugees from behind the Iron Curtain were a staple of intelligence operations during the Cold War.

And they didn’t actually work for you during that period? Because if they had been there, you would in fact have been their boss? Too bad, because I would have given him a great reference. GOP campaigns tell RNC not to let Adelson stack the debate crowd

Top campaign officials on Monday pressed the Republican National Committee on whether Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson would receive an extra block of tickets for next month’s GOP debate at his Venetian hotel - and potentially stack the crowd for his favored candidate.

Adelson, one of the most prolific Republican donors in the country, has yet to endorse a contender, though it is widely believed he will eventually get behind Marco Rubio and direct millions of dollars his way.

Wow, great idea having a debate at a hotel owned by a right wing casino mogul.

And I strongly suspect there was already some crowd stacking going on in favor of Rubio in the previous debate.

Wow, great idea having a debate at a hotel owned by a right wing casino mogul.

And I strongly suspect there was already some crowd stacking going on in favor of Rubio in the previous debate.

This is the post Citizens United world where political pimps like Adelson have more sway then the people. This is exactly why the Progressive era was needed.

Switch out mosque for church and see how quickly the right wing screams oppression and violation of 1A rights and sacrilege.

There are religious groups and orders in this country that preach hate and violence. Cults. You’ve got white supremacists and hate groups that mix a version of Odinism or Christianity into their racism, hatred, and seek a race war, terrorism, and other violence to come.

Order those shut?

New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

The story of the Palestine Texas murders just gets worse and worse.
Former Farmington residents among six killed in Texas
More details: Hudson named as alleged murder (sic) in Tennessee Colony

One of the victims, Kade Johnson, was 6 years old. Another, Kade’s grandfather Carl Johnson, was 77. The others are Carl’s daughter Hannah Johnson, Hannah’s boyfriend Thomas Kamp, and Kamp’s two sons. Kamp had apparently just purchased the undeveloped property where the murders occurred. Suspect Hudson owns and lives on the adjacent property.

This bears a certain resemblance to the case last year when a West Virginia asshole killed two men he thought were breaking into a shed on his property. In fact, the shed was on the adjacent property, which one of the dead men had just purchased.

Four of the bodies, Kamp and the 3 boys, were found in a pond on Hudson’s property. The other two, Carl and Hannah Johnson, were found in the travel trailer on Kamp’s newly purchased property. Did Hudson think they were trespassing and decide to execute them, as many Texas inbreds in fact think they have the right to do? Could Kamp and the boys have been murdered because they inadvertently wandered onto Hudson’s property and Hudson then decided to eliminate the potential witnesses in the travel trailer as well? Carl’s wife survived the attack and has been providing information to the Texas Rangers, who are now in charge of the investigation.

Two stories from personal experience.

My six year old son was flagged for special scrutiny by TSA. I could not go with him. I could see from across the screening area that his feet did not reach the floor from his chair.

The FBI was doing a background investigation for a high level security clearance for my BROTHER IN LAW (Dept of Energy reactor operator). Half an hour into the interview they asked me if I know his WIFE. DUH, I lived with her for 17 years. She’s my sister you idiot. They thought I was just the 3rd basemen on his softball team. Hey Facebook?

No wonder they couldn’t stop the Tsarnaev brothers even after the Russians picked up the phone and told them they were trouble.

I ran Boston in 2013. Posted a PR. I won’t tell you my time because you could easily figure out my name. (the FBI probably not so much). I was on Boyleston St for only a minute or two. Mrs_Compound however was there for over an hour getting a good spot to wait for me. She could have easily been a victim. She had been straight across the street from the second explosion. Good thing I had a good day and ran fast. Forgive me if I have zero zero confidence in their ability to do background checks. They cannot. Besides how do you perform a background check on someone from Syria? Normally you would interview their middle school teacher, friends, a couple of neighbors…..maybe talk to their banker… none of that is possible. What error rate is acceptable to you?

My attempt to bring some of my more reasonable friends back down to reality:

And look. I get it. These attacks piss me off too. But we cannot let our emotions get the best of us. The kind of reaction I have been seeing since this happened is exactly what they want. Kind and reasonable people going totally batshit reactionary nutbag (sorry, friends!) We get pissed. Understandably so. We blow more of them up, but 10x more get recruited because we are blowing them up. Break. The. Cycle.

These kinds of attacks happen daily and more than once in a day in the Middle East, and even in Turkey, yet we don’t pay attention. Nobody covered their profile pics with the Lebanese flag, or Turkish flag, or any other flag when scores of them were killed by ISIS. Our priorities are totally fucked up.

bbc.com

Instead of talking about what needs to be done about the refugees, we need to be talking about WHY THERE ARE refugees in the first place. Not just in Syria. Not just in Iraq. Or Afghanistan. But refugees from anywhere. Africa. Asia. Europe. Latin America. We are all just passengers on this big blue marble floating around in the universe. We have to figure out how to live together, and be respectful to things we are unfamiliar with. Am I being a pacifist hippy? Fuck no. But collective punishment is not the answer. Is every Catholic priest a child molester? Is every cop like Joe Gliniewicz? Is every Confederate flag waving white guy going to walk into a church and murder 9 people? You get the point.

What ethnic/religious group has ISIS killed the most of? Arabs and Muslims. Not Christians. We have a common enemy. To compare any of them to our common enemy simply because of their religion/skin color solves nothing. It’s exactly what ISIS etc. want. And that sort of discrimination just breeds more hate, and more younger Arabs/Muslims join their ranks because of it.

Enough.

Ok, sure, we’ll shut down some Mosques. That will TOTALLY take care of the problem…

…because none of the congregation members would ever THINK of meeting somewhere else and there’s absolutely no chance it could piss people off and radicalize them.

Flawless fuckin’ logic, there.

Something so obvious I should have come up with it:

Guns deter terrorist attacks! Except in all the places with lots of guns (Daily Kos link), you know, the Middle East.

Will shooting at a rocket that’s heading straight for you do any good?

I’m a hunter who loves the outdoors & enjoys the benefits of lean & healthy wild game. All meat is used to feed my family or donated to people in need.

I highly doubt that the lion was grilled at the family picnic.

I’m staying off Facebook and treading lightly on all news this week.

I kind of splurged on CDs last week and three of them arrived today.

Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Volume 12 (the 6 CD version)
Aretha Arrives
Sandy Denny - The North Star Grassman and the Ravens (deluxe edition)

And it’s a hellva lot easier and cheaper to feed the poor and her family by going to the grocery store rather than flying halfway around the world to butcher a lion.

We don’t do background checks on the most dangerous people in this country because they’re all Americans.

Really? You don’t do much contract work do you? …or maybe you don’t realize how often your employer turns over your personal information prior to award of contract. If you volunteer to coach little league baseball, you will have a background check run on you.

Surprisingly my Facebook is more sane than anticipated. It seems my strategy of being VERY careful who I friend request has paid off.

The YMCA ran a background check on me to become a board member.
