Donald Trump’s Energy Guru: An Anti-Science Climate Change Denier, of Course
In addition to everything else wrong about Donald Trump — the racism, the conspiracy theories, the xenophobia, the sheer ignorance about foreign policy, the misogyny — he’s a climate change denier. Of course. Almost all Republicans are.
And now he’s picked as his energy guru a very well-known climate change denier like himself, North Dakota Rep. Kevin Cramer, described in this quote from Reuters as a “skeptic.”
Cramer is no “skeptic.” He’s a booster of fracking and hard core anti-science oil industry shill who answered “No” when asked if he believes human activity contributes to climate change
WASHINGTON, May 13 (Reuters) - Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has asked one of America’s most ardent drilling advocates and climate change skeptics to help him draft his energy policy.
U.S. Republican Congressman Kevin Cramer of North Dakota - a major oil drilling state - is writing a white paper on energy policy for the New York billionaire, Cramer and sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Cramer was also among a group of Trump advisers who recently met with lawmakers from western energy states, who hope Trump will open more federal land for drilling, a lawmaker who took part in the meeting said.
Cramer explained his disbelief in human-caused climate change like this:
“The manipulation of free markets by economic policy disguised as environmental policy based on inconclusive science should not be tolerated. Free people producing energy other free people want and are willing to pay for should be the core of U.S. energy policy.”
