Outrage fatigue is a real thing. Trump’s megalomania clearly got people killed for nothing in that recent botched raid, and if it is true the target knew the raid was coming, chances are the intel was blown in the White House to the Russians.

These are both big fucking deals, and have been buried under Trump’s avalanche of other shit.

Oh yes, those evil infants wanting treatment for life threatening illnesses. Sigh fuck this guy. As bad as our treatment of Jews fleeing continental Europe was, FDR wasn’t demonizing them as “Evil” eitehr.

I got mr. klys 9 Mel Brooks movies on Blu-ray (I needed to make the minimum for another shipment, and then they sent it to me in two separate boxes) and it includes that.

Maybe we should watch that tonight.

Sweet gift. My favorite Brooks film is The Producers, the original with Gene and Zero Mostel. I didn’t dislike the remake with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane but the original has the LSD character who just fits the era the film was made in perfectly and I think the original versions of the character were funnier.

I’M concerned because they didn’t consider replacing it with anything.

We need a better system. Perhaps funding the different state agencies that report who has been adjudicated mentally ill and incapable of proper firearm ownership.

In other words, funding the laws we already have …

Bannon wants people to have guns that are incapable of being safe gun owners. All to spread more chaos. The NRA is right there with him, and the rest of the Republicans aren’t far behind.

Surprise, surprise, it’s the usual “Too wide a net!” argument from our buddies at the NRA. The reality being that too many potential gun owners (read: walking money bags) might be prevented from willfully filling the pockets of the gun lobby.

Thing that the NRA does that pisses me off the most aside from the whole questioning the masculinity of men who don’t share their fetish is how they constantly go back on positions they once held. LaPierre doesn’t give a shit about gun rights. He cares about the gun industry being wealthy as possible. He certainly isn’t worried about intruders. It’d be nice if the rank and file of the NRA saw him for the con man he is.

It’s a fucking racket. Convince the rubes thy’re just fighting for Joe Gunowner when Wayne’s actually fighting for the industry. It’s like clockwork with the bastards. They’re always oh so concerned about threats to the 2nd amendment whenever Dems are in power or about to be elected. Wayne the Dick is nothing but a GOP shill. I’ve taken a lot to the religious angle. Most of my friends and family are devout Christians, but as they come from wingnut brands of church, they don’t think for themselves about what it really means to be a servant of Christ. There’s no end of scriptural support for the idea that Trump’s policies are completely antithetical to Jesus’ teachings.

I just wish Bill Maher didn’t normalize her shit like he did with Ann Coulter.

Same beef I had with Trevor Noah interviewing Tomi FOR 35 FUCKING MINUTES and she came out of that still ignorant AF but emboldened because the bad publicity from that interview was still publicity.

I agree 100%—and I am NOT going to watch. But I’ll bet Rick Wilson will be merciless. Remember, he described Trump and his supporters:

He’s just dumb as a sack of hair, but honest to god, with the guy, he’s been so divisive, so determined to open up a racial chasm in this country, in part because he’s a guy backed in large measure by a group of white supremacists and neo-nazis and frog meme idiots. And he is proud of that. He loves those people. They’re what Donald Trump loves most.

Other than Ana Navaro, he’s about the only Republican who’s stuck by his guns.

THey are servants for those who are annointed by god —-i.e. Pope.

My spouse used to work at the Jekyll Island Club on the Georgia coast and she would rush to get observant Orthodox Jewish guests checked in and make sure their needs would be met beforehand for the next 24 hours when they checked in on Friday afternoon. They were invariably astonished that a gentile girl knew enough about their religious needs to make sure that things were taken care of so that they did not have to break Sabbath to make transactions.

A lot of people are starting to find that out about Mr Kushner. When Friday night rolls around…we all start sweating since nobody is left to put the breaks on the crazy train.

He did a great service after 9/11 by doing that. I wish I had appreciated more at the time but because I admittingly had BDS his first time, I didn’t give him his due. I think Bush really did realize the dreams many immigrants had. Perhaps because like me, he had an immigrant SiL and while I mocked it at the time, I do think he tried hard with his Spanish. Remember Vincente Fox who is mocking Trump was actually the first foreign leader that Bush met with. There’s a lot of things I think Bush did wrong and I think he was a poor president but it wasn’t because of a lack of a heart or conscience. I think really with better advisers, he could have been close to his father. In any case, I have more respect for both Bushes than I do Trump by far.

Milo thinks he can bully people and there’s not going to be push back. Well, actually I think he does personally but he knows the idiots who follow him don’t get that. LGF’s new two-factor signin has many of the same features as Google’s two-factor signin, including a list of single-use backup codes you can use if you ever get separated from your cell phone and your authenticator app.

The only thing I’m unable to fully test is the cell phone SMS support, because I only have access to an AT&T carrier. But I believe without testing it all that it should work with 10 common cell phone carriers:

Altel
AT&T
Boost Mobile
Sprint
T-Mobile
Unicel
U.S. Cellular
Verizon
Virgin Mobile Canada
Virgin Mobile USA

If your carrier isn’t in the list you’ll still be able to use an authenticator app.

We told him that a few weeks befoer, we had Brother Micah, (google him he’s fairly famous on the East coast) and he was like “Wow Micah’s pretty extreme.” I mean do I think this guy’s religious views had a lot of hate and ignorance in them? Honest prediction. Milo’s popularity will fade with Trump in power. His movement would have more appeal if Clinton were elected because then he could sell himself to the college kids as this cutting edge rebel. He’ll get some reception of course but to most college kids, he’ll just look like a weirdo telling a bunch of college kids that they need to love Der Trumpenfuherer.

W Bush was often uncaring, but was part of an establishment and party that wanted to keep up appearances.

Trump is evil, and is a perfect match for just about everyone in the Republican party.

Milo even causes dissent among his fans. The group that was bringing him on campuses was originally a Ron Paul fanboi gang, Young Americans for Liberty, but (from wiki):

In May 2016, the University of California, Santa Barbara chapter hosted Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos at an event titled “Feminism is Cancer,” as part of his speaking tour, “The Dangerous Faggot Tour.” The controversial event resulted in infighting among the national leadership of YAL…YAL President David Willis, tried to discourage other YAL chapters from hosting Yiannopoulos again, primarily due to the fact that he “makes fun of libertarians and supports Trump,” and also because of his alleged “inflammatory anti-Muslim, [and] anti-feminist” rhetoric.

Eventually, he’ll piss off his new fans because he is an obnoxious creep (she said, hopefully…)

Just got here, I don’t think this has gotten posted yet:

Trump officials slow-walked court orders on travel ban

Customs officials blocked immigrants from seeing lawyers at Dulles Airport, despite judge’s order.

Hours after a federal judge ordered customs officers to provide lawyers to travelers detained at Dulles airport last Saturday, senior Trump administration officials instructed the guards to give the travelers phone numbers of legal services organizations, ignoring a mass of lawyers who had gathered at the airport.

Most of the legal services offices were closed for the weekend, effectively preventing travelers with green cards from obtaining legal advice.

The move was part of what lawyers contend was a series of foot-dragging actions by the administration that appeared to violate court orders against the Trump’s controversial travel ban.

A little over 24 hours after Trump ordered the ban, federal judges in New York, Massachusetts and Virginia issued emergency rulings blocking parts of it. But at Dulles and other airports, customs officers refused to change their procedures until their superiors conveyed instructions from agency lawyers reviewing the court decisions, according to three lawyers familiar with the situation and a congressional staff member investigating the matter.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, at least four hours after the first of the court orders came down, Todd Owen, Customs and Border Protection’s executive assistant commissioner, convened a conference call for field operations to deliver new guidance, according to a person briefed on the call.

But rather than allow the detained travelers to contact lawyers waiting to serve them, Owen’s team advised CBP officers at Dulles to give the travelers phone numbers for legal-services organizations.

politico.com

The judge in this case is Leonie Brinkema. She’s been a federal judge since the early 1990s. I don’t think she’s going to be too especially thrilled with the CBP. And she shouldn’t be.

For those of us who have privacy concerns on the mind (which should really be all of us these days), what sort of precautions are being taken with information like the cell numbers that would be used in the two-factor authentication?

If someone comes a-callin’ to subpoena information that could link a Lizard to identifying information like that, I trust you’ve got things locked down well on your end?

Even if you were a smallish beach town that gets more than a million visitors a year just from Canada (and Can-Am days are coming up in less than a month) you’d probably be freaking out. (goes to check local paper for freak out)

Trump’s Travel EO took a pretty serious dump on a lot of the east coast. Won the Bram Stoker award in 2015. Very well-written.

I read that and loved it so. The ending was pretty amazing — one of those things I still find myself sitting around and thinking about all that happened and all the implications. Definitely deserved the Stoker…

Still might be worth it to find a wet brand she likes, cats are prone to getting urinary tract infections and dry food exacerbates that risk.

Our cats preferred the cheap brands fortunately. We’d leave dry out for them to have at will and then give the two of them a half can every second or third day. If we’d had a fixed tom then the amounts would be different since they get so much fatter.

The RWNJ noise machine did its job vs. Hillary Clinton. However, anyone who thinks RWNJ noise should be a factor in picking Democratic candidates is being idiotic.

1) You don’t let the enemy determine your choices.

2) The RWNJ noise machine will always operate vs. any prominent Democrat. Had Sanders won the nomination, we’d have have the worst Red Scare ever in US history, and that would have just been the start.

You might find this posting from my former Priest in Madison of use; I and my current priest both did:

We are strangers and foreigners
Posted on February 1, 2017
I have struggled over the last months to find my voice as a pastor and theologian. So much of my fear, anxiety, and anger at our current situation is connected to my identity as an American citizen that it’s been difficult for me to separate out my commitment to following Jesus Christ and my calling as a minister of the Gospel from my concerns as an American. Last week brought an end to that struggle and provided clarity of vision as I live out my calling as a Christian and an Episcopal priest. I am to follow Jesus and to preach the Gospel.

The immigration and refugee ban is profoundly evil, a repudiation of Christian and Hebrew Scriptures and the very words of Jesus Christ. Throughout scripture, there is a consistent and powerful command to offer hospitality to strangers, to welcome the foreigner, and to treat foreigners and strangers as one would treat one’s own family.

Every little bit helps. One of my liberal friends is an employee at Azusa Pacific University, which is a Christian university that just sent an open letter to Donald Trump that completely lit him up on the issue of refugees. He has been instrumental in my exegetical approach to discussing these issues, as much as I get involved in them.

My understanding is Snowflake Trump feels personally “betrayed” by CNN’s president.

Wah, wah.

While you don’t actually believe that something like the Bowling Green Massacre won’t not ever happen again, your child needs to think that it won’t not either. They will be OK. We will all be OK.

?? Are you referring to this recent story/event?

Who is Jerry Falwell Jr. and why is he reforming higher education?
The Liberty University leader has been tapped to head up a presidential task force.

[snip]On Tuesday, Trump continued this streak by tapping Jerry Falwell Jr. to head up a presidential task force charged with suggesting reforms for the Department of Education.[/snip]

Assuming Trump actually follows the court’s order, which is not a given, the next step would be a higher court, which I guess would be quickly the appellate court.

Michigan GOP official calls for “another Kent State” to curtail student protests.

Worth noting that Kent State did not curtail student protests. Not even close. In fact, protests multiplied exponentially and the Nixon administration’s war policy became unsustainable.

Greets and saluts from the resistance. Trump’s up early this morning railing on the NY Times and the federal judge who issued a nationwide TRO against Trump’s Muslim ban.

Trump’s statements against the judge’s actions include calling him a “so-called judge”. Considering the judge was a Bush appointee with similar qualifications as Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Gorsuch, I’d start referring to Gorsuch in the same manner. He’s a so-called judge.

Still, this is what Trump does. He doesn’t like what a judge does (see Curiel, judges who rule on Trump’s shady business dealings) and Trump blusters with BS and venom about how everything is so unfair to him. Now in the WH, those statements are attacks on the separation of powers, and if he defies the judge’s orders it’s once again a violation of his oath of office. That’s the kind of thing that is an impeachable offense, if only the GOP does their jobs and upholds their own oaths of office.

The Times meanwhile ran a piece showing that Trump’s still running his businesses despite claiming that he’s divested. His top corporate lawyer and his son are still closely involved in both businesses and working with Trump personally. These are the very conflicts of interest everyone was warning of before the election. The Emoluments Clause is once again in play here - again an impeachable act.
