Our Horrible President Comes to the Defense of Alex Acosta, Who Oversaw Epstein’s Wrist-Slap Deal
It’s not surprising, but today Donald Trump finally broke his silence on Alex Acosta, who oversaw the outrageously lenient deal that helped Jeffrey Epstein evade justice and harm uncounted children. Trump says he feels “very badly” — not for the children victimized by this predator and his cronies, but for poor Alex Acosta. He says Acosta didn’t make the decision to grant a plea deal to Epstein.
That’s a lie.
UPDATE: President Trump has come to Alex Acosta’s defense: “You’re talking about a long time ago. I think it was a decision made not by him but by a lot of people, so we’re looking at it very carefully.”Read the full story: https://t.co/vL9jfu9Zzs #PerversionofJustice https://t.co/36pHLCi1EU

Trump also said he “wasn’t a fan” of Jeffrey Epstein, and that he had “a falling out with him.”
This is almost certainly another lie.
Trump also defended his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein:”I had a falling out with him a long time ago, I don’t think I’ve spoken to him in 15 years. I wasn’t a fan. I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.”#PerversionofJustice https://t.co/ZqvVe0nVOB

It’s very striking that Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed sympathy for powerful men accused of sex crimes — but he never expresses sympathy for victims of sex crimes.
