02. William Shatner’s Pants - Live in New York City

————

This year has been devastating to so many people around the world. Everybody has been affected by this pandemic, wherever you live and whatever you do. For the live music fans, we miss that energy, that connection. Shows and Distancing, my third album and first live album, has arrived at a time where I hope at least some sense of relief and nostalgia can be provided to you.

Recorded throughout last year on the road in the USA, this record takes you through support sets with Justin Hayward (Moody Blues), headline shows, a live duet from Los Angeles and even excerpts from my first ever headline concert from over the pond. New York, Florida and California, three of my favourite places. I hope to return soon!

I’m incredibly proud of this record and the quality of the audio captured. Josh Clark’s mixes are SUPERB. I’ll be releasing live videos every week for the foreseeable future so don’t forget to hit ‘SUBSCRIBE’ to be notified x

Video captured by David Minasian & Trinity Houston
Edited by Mike Dawes
Colouring by Josh Partridge

Audio captured by Steve Chant & Alberto Parodi

Well that was a little God-heavy for me, but I get through it knowing that it probably drives Christianists absolutely nuts to hear Biden claim it.

Same. I’m not big on State Piety, and Biden and Harris calling out all those who helped push this election over the line left out the largest constituency in the Democratic Party and the 10% of people in the 2019 Pew Survey who explicitly answer the question “do you believe in God” with “no.”

Aside from that, those were damn fine speeches about moving the country forward again.

Likewise Elon’s stupid tunnel project. The French and Japanese already know how to build the optimal rail system. We just have to do it here. And FUCK Chris Christie for killing that rail tunnel in NYC. That had effects we noticed in Boston.

That’s exactly what will happen if the GA special elections are lost.

Which is why, if Republicans retain control of the Senate, the plan has to be non-stop campaigning vs. GOP obstruction using the full force of the presidential bully pulpit.

He is being held by the United Kingdom and is going through extradition hearings now filed by the United States on a sealed indictment.

In September 2020, an open letter in support of Assange was sent to Boris Johnson with the signatures of two current heads of state and approximately 160 other politicians.[405] The following month, U.S. Representatives Tulsi Gabbard and Thomas Massie tabled a resolution opposing the extradition of Assange.

I love how they make these obvious statements as though they were revealing some great truth we missed. Of course it’s not official until the vote is certified and the electors have voted and, and, and. But there’s never been a case of a candidate with this kind of lead having the rug ripped out from under him. It’s not like the whole thing is hanging on the slim margin in GA alone, or something.

Maybe something along the line of “let the man have a chance” or something something.
Chappell will be on SNL tonight.
I want to hear that.
Dave’s a hard guy to understand. He’s like a street smart wiseacre who could not only talk himself out of a beating, but they would buy him a 40 and let him join in.
Did that shit myself. Hard for people to beat you up when you making them laugh.
Then he got suspect he was being used. No shit? Really? Check your check. Paid.
Then he disappeared. Went to Africa or something.
Left big money on the table.
Slick coming back tonight to say something.
Foo Fighters as the musical act.
I might just tune in.
Might just.
Dave when he just being Dave is the best Dave,
Who shows up?
Stay tuned

“…Americans tend to be forgiving of our former officials. George W. Bush, whose Administration lied to the world in order to start a war, created a prison camp where people could be indefinitely detained, and instituted torture, has easily recast himself as a decent former President. People who devised his Administration’s criminal policies continue to have a voice in American politics. This history of automatically granting respect to people who have been close to power is what has continued to propel both Taylor’s career and his evident assumption that he is entitled to public trust. If we are going to recover from Trumpism, whenever the post-Trump era begins, this is one tradition that will have to be broken. Denying charity and, more important, respect to Taylor, whom we now know to be an architect of criminal and cruel policies as well as a liar, would be a good place to start.”

Well, in minor scandals which blew up into international news two years ago in this state (see link for photo of the alleged “violence”):

Remember how two years ago Jeff Fartenberry was the victim of “political violence” (his words) when some terrible criminal “vandalized his reputation”? Of course you do, because that is probably the only thing you know about Jeff Fartenberry. Though please, please check out his web site to learn more!

You probably also remember that Fart’s chief of staff, Reyn Archer, tried to get a U of Nebraska political science professor, Ari Kohen, fired from his job for liking the photo of the silent but deadly deed on Facebook. It was, in fact, this absurd overreaction-not even Fart’s insistence on a full scale CSI investigation by Lincoln Police-that made Fart a laughing stock in international news.

Yet despite all this, Reyn-“It is prrronounced RENN!” he told Kohen-kept his job on Fart’s staff, even though it led to an ethics investigation. Well, as friend of Seeing Red Phil Montag has just discovered, it looks like there’s a good reason for this.

Reyn and Fart are family. Specifically, Reyn is the cousin of Fart’s mother-in-law.

As I have written about in the past, Reyn was a strange choice for chief of staff. You can read more about his bizarre history here, but if you know nothing else about him, please know that his medical career began as a celibate gynecologist.

Yes. A celibate. Gynecologist.

Oh, so that’s why Jeff Fartenberry endured public humiliation (Goes to Seeing Red Nebraska)

How the fuck does the panhandle get a 60+% positivity rate? Is it something stupid like # positive tests/# total tests which would have retesting of covid patients as a confounding factor?

Because if this is really # patients first testing positive/# patients of unknown status being tested, then things are completely out of control and everyone is going to catch this.

I’ll believe it when I see it, but my hope is not completely gone. One cynical reason for the Powers that Be to have Trump et al. take falls is that sufficiently obvious crimes by privileged people do get punished when they steal from rich people (e.g. Madoff) or are too blatant (Leona Helmsley). I’m sure Trump’s campaign has ripped off a few GOP fat cats, and he is also making things too obvious.

Why would he? In the critical battleground of NE-2:

Omahans celebrating Biden-Harris victory vow to ‘let this momentum carry us forward’ (Omaha World-Herald)

News of Joe Biden’s presidential victory Saturday prompted some Nebraskans to gather at popular rallying spots in celebration, others protested in anger and frustration, and a few came together to dance.

At Omaha’s 72nd and Dodge Streets, Biden and Kamala Harris supporters carried flags and signs and cheered while passing cars honked horns and cheered back.

“I let out this sigh of relief that I’ve been holding for four years,” Evan Peterson, a political science and musical theater major at Creighton University, said of the moment he started hearing media outlets call the race. “It was amazing.”

Peterson said he cried when he heard, then took a drive because he was so excited. When he saw the group at 72nd and Dodge — which numbered a couple dozen at about 3:30 p.m. — he stopped to celebrate with them.

“I’m proud to be from Nebraska’s 2nd District,” he said of the community, which flipped from voting for President Donald Trump in 2016 to voting for Biden in 2020.

How long before she does some desperate stunt?

“…Laura Carno, Boebert’s campaign spokeswoman, said voters didn’t hold it against Boebert for violating public health directives. Instead, people connected with her for battling through the pandemic.

“They knew they were talking to a fellow business owner,” Carno said.

Boebert also continued to hold maskless, in-person events despite COVID-19, which Carno said helped her win votes across the 3rd District.

“I think that said something to voters that Lauren was willing to be out there,” Carno said.”coloradosun.com

guess the part that seems to escape the Trump crew is that sure, while Bill Barr was in charge, they were protected from prosecution by a friendly DOJ, FBI and Senate… what happens with all of that shit that is still sitting there in the Mueller files? No charges were brought, so no double jeopardy, as far as I understand it. None of these crimes are close to reaching their statutory limits… all you have to do is simply pick up where they left off and start asking the questions that Rosenstein forbade and start re-knitting that corruption/treason sweater.

All that shit is there and could be made public, all that remains is the public will to do so with a DOJ that is not beholden to 45 and if I read the calendar right, that’s like 75 days.

You think Joe and Kamala are going to go easy on old Mitch Boy? After watching what he did post the death of RBG, his refusal to give aid to Americans in need while he was busy packing his court… Maybe Joe could be seen as a softy on many things, but fucking over people willingly when they need help is NOT something I can see him doing.

We may have a GOP nominally in control of the Senate right now, but I have no doubts that Kamala Harris will cut a motherfucker and if there’s anything we know and understand, the GOP Senate is full of Motherfuckers.

I wonder if Cheeto might try to strike a deal to rat out all the other Republican rats in return for some kind of leniency (not necessarily a pardon). Besides having no loyalty to anything other than himself, Trump has only a perfunctory, opportunistic understanding of Republican values. He is more than a figurehead, but not much more, and others (Barr, McConnell, Miller and various billionaire supporters) were the real masterminds of the worst atrocities.
I really see Trump as more like Goering than Hitler. Although Goering was himself massively guilty, his guilt was always incidental to his personal ambition, while Hitler and characters like Goebbels were committed heart and soul to their evil deeds.
In fact, there may be little reason that Trump, personally, would not try to strike a deal. There is a big question of whether it would be worthwhile to accept.

Anyone wanna bet that when/if Trump goes on trial in NY, he’s gonna ditch the clown makeup and the hair dye and hobble into court on Harvey Weinstein’s Zimmer Frame?

Heh.

Heh I can see that.

I muted Dave after a bit, because I’m rarely into any kind of speech, but this seems like a really long host into by SNL standards.

Heh I can see that.

Same here, trying to work the ol’ sympathy ploy - “Look, I’m a frail old man! You can’t send me to prison!” and all that jazz.

That’s the best case. There is real possibility that they will do everything they can to make it worse simply to make Biden’s job more difficult.

All they have to do is continue their current policy of neglect and that will guarantee things will get worse. What steps can be successful at this point when you have an uncontained lethal plague with no cure and no vaccine running rampant throughout the nation? To be effective, the measures needed to be taken at the beginning of the year before it reached this state. And now? a universal mask mandate might help but how force GOP run states to comply? Or a GOP run Senate to agree to any comprehensive measures? Maybe the panel that Biden is establishing will have the expertise to get this disease under control — or maybe an vaccine will be released soon — or maybe COVID will vanish like the Spanish flu. Or maybe we remain in serious trouble for at least another next year.

Things are out of control.

We are surrounded by wingnuts: Weld County, Colo., Wyoming, and South Dakota. Wyoming and South Dakota in particular are also out of control.

I’m old enough to remember when you used to report no cases.
