Trump Is Backed Into a Corner, Still Spewing Lies About Nonexistent “Voter Fraud”

Politics • Views: 15,389

I have to hand it to Donald Trump for one thing: he certainly knows how to commit to a scam. This morning he’s continuing to rant and lie on Twitter about nonexistent “voter fraud,” evidently trying to burn America down before he’ll admit losing the 2020 election.

But oddly enough, he hasn’t yet started babbling about the phone call he made to threaten Georgia officials if they didn’t “find the votes” to hand the election to him.

Yikes, this man is so unhinged. He just ignores Twitter’s empty warnings and keeps lying. But don’t worry, it isn’t as if he controls one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world or anything dangerous like that.

Meanwhile…

It’s a good thing this is going down in Georgia. No matter how much they cry about turncoats, having any investigation handled by Republicans will blunt a whole lot of bias charges.

DC braces for pro-Trump protests amid Electoral College challenge

Officials in Washington, D.C., are bracing for clashes in the streets Wednesday as thousands of pro-Trump supporters arrive to protest the presidential election and cheer on challenges of the Electoral College in Congress.

President Trump in several tweets has called his supporters to gather in the country’s capital for “wild” protests, sparking fears of trouble between proponents and critics of the president.

[…]

The Proud Boys, a far-right group, and members of other armed right-wing organizations also have committed to rallying on Jan. 6. Trump has tweeted he plans to attend at least one of the demonstrations.

Except for those Republicans will turn out to be a part of the Deep State and Democratic operatives, and thus the war on democracy continues.

A Target employee was lecturing an older guy this morning about how a mask MUST be worn when inside the store. He was wearing a mask at the time so she must have given it to him. He looked homeless; wearing a larger backpack. I picked up the few items I couldn’t pre-order and the guy was still in the same place and still wearing the mask when I got back for self-checkout. One other older guy wasn’t covering his nose. Everyone else in the store was doing it right. I think people in my part of the Twin Cities are pretty scared of getting sick.

If anyone tried to take my mask in a store I think I’d hit them with a can of soup (Campbell’s Chunky).

So Trump will be in Dalton GA today supposedly to campaign for Loeffler and Purdue. Dalton is where Georgia’s carpet mills are, the ones still open. It’s not a big town, located maybe 30 or so minutes from the TN border. North GA is really red, and very white. But these places have been hit hard by covid, and before that, jobs going overseas and depressed wages and anti union sentiment. I’m sure Trump will spend the whole time whining about his election losses and Kemp and Raffensperger betraying him. Not sure where he’s flying into, but if it’s near me, Dobbins Air Force Base, it will clusterfuck traffic between here and there (about 90 minutes away) for hours. I can’t wait for this shit to be done.

If Stacey Abrams decides she’s running for governor again, I also expect there to be a fuck ton of ads and mail. I just got another one from Doug Collins endorsing both Republicans in tomorrow’s runoff. I wish I had kept all the stuff I have received since last summer and now, I would just love to have the money spent on campaign mail. I’d wager there was at least a 30 gal trash bag full.

What do you think of the Warnock/Ossoff ads you’ve seen? Rachel Bitecofer often bemoans bad Democratic messaging, saying they fail to “nationalize” their races the way GOPers do (i.e. Dems fail to link GOPers to Trump/McConnell/etc the way GOPers associate all Dems with Pelosi/The Sqaud). Bitecofer says trying to persuade GOPers or looking for swing voters is pointless and ads should instead concentrate on driving up Dem turnout and letting them know that a vote for Perdue/Loeffler = a vote for Trump and McConnell. Have you seen anything like that?

A bit of that, but most of what I have seen has been what is important to both candidates and what they would like to see happen when they are elected. The gop ads have all been scary liberals and their socialism along with accusing Ossoff of being in cahoots with China and Warnock repeating Rev Wright’s god damn America in a sermon, and something about not being able to serve god and the military at the same time. I really think the Dems have done really well with advertising this go round. Stacey Abrams started some good trouble here and people are learning what to do to appeal to voters.

No, he’s too interested in separating his supporters from what he thinks should be his money.

The lawyers should have been more concerned about basic law practice, including civ pro., but decided it better that they serve up whatever crap Trump wanted to hear instead of outright telling Trump what he was asking for was illegal, improper, frivolous, and unsustainable in any court anywhere.

IT’S A MOTH, it’s a plane, it’s … the Smellicopter, a little drone that senses odors with an onboard moth antenna. Seriously, that’s the scientists’ real name for their creation, a system that monitors the electrical signals sent from the antenna of an actual moth, allowing the drone to lock onto the source of a scent and navigate toward it. And, seriously, this has a long-term purpose: to one day get drones equipped with moth antennae to sniff out objects like bombs.

The man can be proved to be demonstrably lying about losing the election and Twitter still is trying to avoid angering conservatives with this weak sauce label.

And again: if this were Biden, Obama, Clinton, or any other Democrat behaving this nuts, Twitter would be straight up saying “This statement is unambiguously false.”

Twitter might as well throw up a label that says “We are pretty sure Trump is wrong about this, but, you know, Democrats lie, too….”

I’ve seen one more ridiculous than that: Requiring all the proper paperwork be in a certain format, such as rejecting print-outs that most clinics/hospitals give and instead insisting that a doctor’s note be on “official” hospital letterhead with the doctor’s signature.

Hello 2021. Are you gonna be like his all year?

One of my co-workers woke up to a dead cat (old age, they were heading to the vet today) and another is sick with COVD, along with his wife and toddler son.

I’m not impressed with 2021’s CV so far.

The “sick police” are standard here in Czech Republic - they’re sent out by the local hygiene bureaus to make sure nobody’s goldbricking.

(Ever see bats circling a street light at night eating insects, and throw a small rock in their general direction and watch a bat break off and follow the rock?)

When they fly through the yard, if you whistle, they start heading towards you for a few seconds.

Was just about to post this: US Attorney in Atlanta abruptly resigns citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’

It isn’t unusual for a U.S. attorney to step down if there are other opportunities before the incoming administration, but it flies in the face of the promise by Pak to stay. The only thing that has changed since his pledge is that President Donald Trump had a phone call with the Georgia secretary of state and demanded that he commit election fraud.

During the call, Trump complained there was a “never-Trumper U.S. attorney” in Atlanta. But the Associated Press noted that “Pak is a longtime Republican who also served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2011 until 2017. He was nominated by Trump to become the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia in 2017.”

Probably Trump wanted some election workers (any would do) indicted for all the tampering-that-wasn’t-actually-tampering alleged in the loony affidavites. The DA probably didn’t feel like losing his Law license when this blows up in his face later on as each case is laughed out of court or quickly dismissed.

That’s as good a working theory as any.

If he was unwilling to go along with the Trump insistence on shredding the rule of law, he should come forward and not just say “unforeseen circumstances”.

These were foreseeable circumstances - Trump made it known for years that he wouldn’t tolerate any election he lost and would challenge the results because he considers those voting against him illegitimate.

But if he remains silent, this guy puts party over nation, just as so many other GOPers have done with frightening regularity these days.

re: #124 I Would Prefer Not To

It’s Trump declaring “Line of Death” after “Line of Death” in a series of torched ground retreats as he tries to avoid admitting that he is leaving office in just over two weeks.

And Jan 20th won’t be the end in any case. He’ll continue to moan and complain until he is in his grave. And his Twitter account will continue complaining after that via proxy since his children understand the value of his legacy as a useful grifting tool.

And beyond that there is the long (and not guaranteed to be successful) slog to deal with the large section of the GOP and it’s followers that are just fine with grinding the democratic traditions and processes of this country into dust as they grasp to retain power.

Lawyers all seem very scared of judges and what they can do, but as far as I can tell, as long as you’re a white Republican trying to overthrow the US government or do anything else white Americans are entitled to do, there really isn’t anything to be scared of from judges.
