RE: Ahsoka season 2
It seems likely. Dave Filoni is doing a crossover movie featuring characters from The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.
Not sure when it will release, but you can expect some unfinished plot threads in the related series until it does.
With regards to my ideas of how to end Ahsoka, I just figured out a way to even explain how Papa Palpatine is still alive.

[Set - Star Destroyer bridge. Chaos is everywhere, as the Chimera has been destroyed and Thrawn is dead. An Imperial officer approaches the Commander]
Comms officer: “Sir, we’ve just received an unusual signal via relay. It’s like nothing I’ve seen before, so I thought you should take a look at it.”
Commander: “What’s so unusual about it?”
Comms Officer: “It’s from the Unknown Regions. And it’s using a code I’m not familiar with. It looks….well, sir, it looks like old Imperial codes.”
Commander: “Very well.”
[Commander and Comms officer walk to comms station. The Commander looks at the code, enters his encryption key, reads the message]
Commander: “This isn’t possible.”
Comms officer: “What sir?”
Commander: “This is a command to withdraw to coordinates deep in the Unknown Regions and to do so immediately. You were right, it is indeed an old Imperial code. It’s the code of the Emperor himself.”
Comms officer: “That’s impossible - the Emperor is long dead!”
Commander: “This code was only known to the Emperor and no one else. It was to assure that a direct order from the Emperor could not be counterfeited. Not even the ISB would’ve been able to duplicate or reproduce it. Not even Lord Vader.”
[Commander thinks for a few moments as to what to do.]
Commander: “With Grand Admiral Thrawn dead, I hereby take command of the fleet. Prepare the fleet to go to hyperspace, and send the coordinates provided in this message to the other ships. And tell no one of this conversation, absolutely no one. If asked, this was on my authority and I take full responsibility.”
Comms officer: “Aye, sir.”
[Exterior shot - Star Destroyers begin jumping to hyperspace one by one. Fade scene]

re: #20 Dr Lizardo
Using modern cyphers, one can have two keys. One is private and is known only by the encrypter. The other is public and can be used to decrypt messages or to authenticate the sender. It is currently very, very hard to determine the private key using the public. Of course, that might change in the future.

re: #20 Dr Lizardo
Public-private key pair coding systems were invented a while back.
The Emperor publishes his public key to trusted associates. Any of them can add it to their “key ring”. Only the Emperor knows the private key that is associated with the public key. He writes a message and encrypts it with his private key. Anyone with the public key can decode and read his message. They know that only the Emperor could have written that message since the public key wouldn’t work to decrypt the message if it was encoded by any other private key.
Keeping the public key a secret or having the public key discovered by various entities could be a plot complication point. Maybe someone in the Rebel Alliance loads it into an R2 droid unit…

NY v. Trump:
Afternoon session begins in New York v. Trump:
NYAG’s counsel wants to know what relief Trump will seek on their appeal.
Trump’s lawyer Christopher Kise says he’s filing tomorrow — and will probably pick his “favorites” in the morning.
So launches a fight about notice.— Adam Klasfeld (@KlasfeldReports) October 5, 2023
With that, Kise discloses he’ll seek to stay summary judgment and the trial.
— Adam Klasfeld (@KlasfeldReports) October 5, 2023
Kise thinks he can get around the rules on notice? Hah. That’d get swatted down and he’d lose on the procedural basis before getting to the merits.
Kise had to admit what they were seeking on appeal, which will still likely get denied on the merits, but it shows the desperation of Trumpworld at this point.

Powell’s lawyer is claiming prosecutorial misconduct in that they’ve withheld evidence (Brady rule), except defense has failed to show any wrongdoing, and prosecutors are turning over everything as they get it. Defense can’t point to anything in Georgia law that shows misconduct. Besides, Brady rule only comes after trial, not at this stage.

NY v. Trump (civil fraud case):
Prosecution witness and former accountant to Trump - Trump personally signed off on everything that went out the door. He was the ultimate arbiter of what we prepared for him.
While Trump isn’t in the courtroom, things are still going badly for him, because the witness testified that Trump signed on the documents that fraudulently set the values he claimed to various parties.
They showed McConney a 2012 email he sent to a Trump International Realty employee inquiring about the square footage and asking price of another apartment for purposes of informing his assessment of the triplex — what’s known in the real estate world as a “comp”
The apartment in question was owned by a foreign royal or prince, McConney confirms. The employee said in his 2012 email response that an apartment at 240 Riverside Park with 14,500 square footage with an ask of $75 million and $5,000 per square foot. That same employee also said he valued Trump’s triplex at $120-180m based on it having 30,000 square footage.
McConney then used this information to value the triplex at $180 million.
The point the AG is driving at is that a 14,500 square-foot apartment overlooking the river was asking for $75 million and roughly $5,000 per square foot whereas the triplex — which James and Engoron have said is actually closer to 10,000 square feet — was assessed to be worth $180 million, and that could not have been GAAP compliant at any point. Why? Because no willing buyer would have paid anywhere close to $180m in 2012 for the Trump Tower triplex.
The AG’s office is showing an ongoing and recurring pattern of behavior from Trump regarding valuations and assessments.

The property may be worth billions — but what are the outstanding mortgages or loans? What is Trump’s actual net worth?
In any case, given he lies about everything, the assessor’s office should have an appraiser determine its real value.

There are still some elected Republicans, I would think/hope, smart enough to know that their best chances of winning are when Trump is far removed from the public. It is, I think, the only reason that he is currently tied with Biden - he has this weird “out of sight, out of mind” mass Jedi mind trick that he plays on the American public. But the moment he’s on TV every night, his numbers plummet. They won a bareass majority in the House because Trump was mostly quiet in 2022, but he was present enough that they couldn’t win the Senate. Long story short: he won’t get enough Republican votes because some of them value their political careers beyond this election cycle.

Except it’s not his anymore; he gave it to Junior. So Junior will be on the hook for those property taxes.
But first… what’s the Gift Tax?
Is the gift tax deductible?
Gifts of cash or property to family or friends are not tax deductible. Only charitable donations to qualified nonprofits may be tax deductible.
What is the gift tax rate?
Gift tax rates range from 18% to 40%. There are, of course, exceptions and special rules for calculating the tax, so check the instructions to IRS Form 709 for all the details.
How the lifetime gift tax exclusion works
On top of the $17,000 annual exclusion in 2023, you get a $12.92 million lifetime exclusion. And because it’s per person, married couples can exclude double that in lifetime gifts. That comes in handy when you’re giving away more than the annual exclusion amount.

If the transaction was meant to shield/hide assets from the authorities, then that too comes into play. There’s now a monitor to evaluate every business org move across all of Trump’s small business companies (llcs, llps, lps, s corps) and you can be sure that they’ll take a close look at the transfer to Junior very closely. IRS will also be standing by on gift tax payment above the threshold, especially if he’s valuing the property at a billion or more (but assessed at ~$20 million.

Extending remarks - but if he was lying about valuations and assessments prior, that could constitute fraud in Florida and Trump would be liable to the assessor for the amounts prior to the transfer. As a go forward, Junior would be on the hook for the new, higher, valuation/assessed value for tax purposes.
Another way to frame this is that Trump just appeared to fuck Junior by seeming to be magnanimous and gift him MAL. Heh.

It’s what they did in the previous clown show. It’s a virtual certainty that Jeffries won’t get any Republican votes, because even for the so-called “Biden 18,” to vote for a Democrat is tantamount to treason. For similar reasons, I would also not expect any of them to be mysteriously absent for the vote. I would, however, expect a lot of “I vote for myself” as a primitive form of holding pattern until someone finally clamps the vise tightly enough around their (physical or metaphorical) testicles to satisfy 218 Republicans.
Expect Byron Donalds to get a bunch of votes in each of the counts, just as he did the last time with McCarthy. It’ll be the GOP way of claiming - I’m not a racist white nationalist fascist - I have a black friend. Donalds still thinks the GOP wont throw him under the bus first chance they get and roll back his civil rights too.

Oh, that’s right, he was their chosen vote dump when they felt that McCarthy hadn’t surrendered quite hard enough. You’re probably right about that.
re: #87 sagehen
I can’t imagine it was a straight up gift, not even normal people would do that. I am sure it was set up in some sort of trust and Junior is just set up as the beneficiary of the trust. I mean the Trump’s aren’t smart, but they do have lots of accountants and attorneys.

Funds need to be allocated to an immigration system in which anybody from anywhere can walk up to any door to this country (in an airport, at a port, or a border crossing on land) and be welcomed and ‘processed’ within days, not decades. The ‘decades’ system in place now is driving people to cross the Mexican border, for whatever reasons they have. Whether they are coming from Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Belize, or anywhere (except Canada) they are paying Mexican cartels to get them across the border. Our immigration system is providing the cartes another source of income at a time when diminishing a different one (drugs).
Christian hate-preacher Steven Anderson has an even more hateful son
Isaac Anderson’s Twitter posts tell a very troubling story
Christian hate-preacher Steven Anderson has a long history of saying vile things. He has celebrated the deaths of murdered LGBTQ people and called on the government to execute gay people with a firing squad. Anderson’s sermons have been so outrageously awful that 34 countries won’t allow him to step foot within their borders. In 2020, the Tempe, Arizona-based preacher began spreading misinformation about COVID, even urging his congregation (and YouTube viewers) to avoid any eventual vaccines.
Oh. And one of his kids is a full-blown Nazi.
Last week, in a now-deleted post on X/Twitter, Isaac Anderson posted an image of his new tattoo: a Nazi War Eagle across his chest with his birthdate (in Roman numerals) right above it.
If he were just some MAGA cultist or online troll attempting to trigger liberals, that’s one thing. Getting a tattoo like this ratchets it to another level. Isaac is the second oldest of the Andersons’ 12 children and, like his siblings, he was home-schooled by his mother, as she documented for years on her website. It’s not clear how or when he decided to go this far down the rabbit hole.
Even though he took down that particular post, several other tweets (that still remain up) clarify his allegiance:
Taking a page from his father’s book, Isaac has also justified mass murder by pointing to the Bible, saying the book “not only condones but it commands genocide against certain groups.”
It doesn’t end there. You may recall how, a couple of weeks ago, Anthony Rota, the speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, invited a 98-year-old World War II soldier to attend a speech from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. That person was introduced as a war hero who fought for the First Ukrainian Division and given a standing ovation. It was soon discovered, though, that the soldier in question fought for the Nazis. Rota resigned shortly thereafter, having brought utter shame to the Canadian Parliament.
Isaac Anderson, however, celebrated the standing ovation.
He also wants everyone to know he’s racist as hell.
I was genuinely curious what Steven Anderson made of all this. He says a lot of vile stuff, but as far as I can tell, he’s never openly celebrated Nazis. That said, he’s certainly crossed the line in that direction. In 2015, he released a video called Marching to Zion that echoed many of Isaac’s current views. Here’s how the Anti-Defamation League described that movie and his preaching at the time:
In addition to arguing that it would be impossible for the Nazis to have cremated a million Jews at Auschwitz, Anderson claims that the slave laborers there got compensated for their work and could buy items at a commissary. He further asserts that Jews were able to play on a soccer team and act in musicals and plays at Auschwitz.
…
The film, released in March 2015, refers to Judaism as the “synagogue of Satan” and claims that Jews are followers of the Antichrist. [Anderson] also asserts that Jews who deny that Jesus is the Messiah would lie about the Holocaust. He argues, “Why would it surprise you that the people who deny the Christ, who deny that Jesus is the messiah, would lie to you about something else?”
Anderson warns that the “real Holocaust” for the Jews will occur if they don’t accept Jesus as the Messiah. He says, “The real burnt offering is going to be when all of these Jews that don’t believe in Jesus Christ go to hell for eternity. That’s the oven that they ought to be worried about.”
re: #72 lawhawk
Jeffries will get all the Democrats’ votes in attendance. The only question is if some GOPers peel off and vote for for Jeffries or affect the quorum count to deliver him a win. We might see a repeat of the McCarthy 15 votes (and subsequent deals that landed us here in the first place).
I remember McCarthy and can see him in my minds eye on black & white tv…even recall his voice but don’t remember the specifics. Unfortunately, I had no interest in politics in those years.
re: #108 nines09
Pretty sure Biden didn’t “approve” money for the border wall. Congress did that with appropriations. It would be illegal for a president to block money appropriated by congress. Like when trump blocked Ukraine funding. https://t.co/ctQ5toX5A7

Setting aside the morality and wisdom of closing the border, building a glorified picket fence is probably the stupidest possible way to do it.
