Video: ‘Putting Her on Notice’: Jack Smith Losing Patience With Judge Cannon in Trump Documents Case

Politics • Views: 10,910

Here’s an update on Trump’s stolen documents case in Florida. There are so many Trump prosecutions going on it’s hard to stay current on all the details!

Special Counsel Jack Smith is showing increasing frustration with Judge Aileen Cannon in the Trump classified documents case as the judge has declined to protect the identity of a witness Smith says is being threatened. Joyce Vance, former U.S. attorney, discusses with Alex Wagner.

El Salvador’s *very popular autocrat, Nayib Bukele, apparently supported its use in his country. (He took hydroxychloroquine himself.)

*He got reelected with >80% of the vote and it could very well reflect his actual popularity given his mass arrests of gang members (as much as 1% of the country’s total population) to solve the problem of mass gang violence and the world’s largest homicide rate.

January 14, 2022:
Ivermectin Scripts for COVID Cost Insurers Nearly $130M Annually: Study

“…In the week of August 13, 2021, private and Medicare plans paid an estimated $1,568,996 and $924,720, respectively, for ivermectin prescriptions for COVID-19, the study shows. Multiplying those amounts by 52 weeks yielded an estimated total annual payment of $129,673,240.

Restrict Coverage?
The authors noted that this wasteful spending exceeds the estimated annual Medicare spending on unnecessary imaging for low back pain. The amount of waste, they said, is even higher because their estimates don’t include Medicaid spending.

An aircheck of New York City radio station WABC from November 9, 1965 reveals disc jockey Dan Ingram doing a segment of his afternoon drive time show, during which he noted that a record he was playing (Jonathan King’s “Everyone’s Gone to the Moon”) sounded slow, as did the subsequent jingles played during a commercial break. Ingram quipped that the King record “was in the key of R.

People underestimate the lasting power of Dobbs. The SCOTUS will decide on medicine abortions this summer. There will be more horrifying cases. I’ve had my handwringing moments but I have been surprised to see how rapidly so many people have stood up for Biden. Reporters have pushed back. Hell, Bibi who hates Biden’s guts and has a lot to insult him, stood up. Same with Romney. Lots of articles about Trump being as bad, forgetting his wife or when he got married.

The SOTU will be a turning point IMHO. He has been giving great speeches of late and I expect a lot will tune in to see if he fucks up (and I expect we will again be dealing with a government shutdown which I expect he will use). Who needs a Superbowl interview when he has this chance. I expect him to be amazing. The bully pulpit at its best.

In a few months, Buden will remove marijuana from Schedule I. That will get noticed. More people will be removed from paying student loans. That will get noticed. I fully expect he has a lot of other things to bring forth during the campaign.

The thing to remember is that the Pacific War was essentially decided 6 months after Pearl Harbor, when we destroyed the Japanese cariers at Midway. But we had to fight for 3 more horrifying years to prove that victory.

We will have to fight for our victory. And a big part of that is for those of us who can to back Biden with money and with words. If you have the strengthm don’t let people you know see the handwringing. Tell them how great a President Biden is. Be his best marketing agent, only use the truth to win. As it always does, eventually.

It is okay to get discouraged. Let someone else pick up the baton and move us forward. We are for each other as we are for Biden. And when you can, retake the baton and take up the fight again.

Push the fear back and tell them how he is one of the best ever, that he overcame a speech impediment so give him a break, that he has produced one of the best economies in our history one that is so historic that economists do not understand it, that it will be studied for years to figure out why it is so amazing.

That he is one of the most empathetic leaders we have ever had, overcoming personal tragedy that would have broken most of us, in order to take on the hardest job in the world because we need him. They ask Trump what he has sacrificed and he says he had some bad business deals. Ask Biden and he can list a wife, a daughter and a son. And that his remaining son is being pilloried because he was actually human and made mistakes, yet Biden still calls his one to tell him he is loved. Do we ever hear of Trump doing that? Remind them of the old saying that no parent should outlive a child and remind them what Biden has lost.

Remind them that Trump evaded military service by lying. Remind them that Biden had a son who fought in combat for America, and likely died because of that. Trump went to Dover Air Base to see returning caskets just 4 times. Pence went every time bodies came back. So has Biden. And we can hear the telephone calls he has made to bereaved parents to get an understanding of his mental state.

Each of us here could add so much more to this list. Biden is the best President of my lifetime during one of its most dangerous times. He may not be as strong as he used to be but even so he is one of the best, We have to be there to help him.

We win because all of us help. /soap box

You know, I was ready to say the Chiefs were going to lose after that first fumble, and then the nothingburger that was the first half. But looked what happened because talented people stayed the course, overcame what looked in the moment to be overwhelming problems, and just used their talents.

Same things here. Sports have a lot of problems in today’s capitalistic markets. But at heart they show us that adversity can be overcome. Stay confident.

Reading now about Rosenstein’s endorsement of the job Hur just did. I see that Hur literally made up an accusation that Biden alerted his lawyers about the documents. This only appears in the executive summary and nowhere else in the “report.”

Hur speculates that if Biden alerted his lawyers, Hur wouldn’t be able to find about because of an imagined privilege that Biden never asserted because Hur never even asked the question. And yet Hur put that front and center as if it happened.

So that’s the tripe that Rod thinks is credible, and our resident troll thinks we should all give a listen to.

re: #60 Unabogie

Reading now about Rosenstein’s endorsement of the job Hur just did. I see that Hur literally made up an accusation that Biden alerted his lawyers about the documents. This only appears in the executive summary and nowhere else in the “report.”

Hur speculates that if Biden alerted his lawyers, Hur wouldn’t be able to find about because of an imagined privilege that Biden never asserted because Hur never even asked the question. And yet Hur put that front and center as if it happened.

So that’s the tripe that Rod thinks is credible, and our resident troll thinks we should all give a listen to.

Thank you for reading up on that.

Stay confident.

at that level they are effing champions.

In the days after FBI Director James Comey’s May 2017 firing, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein discussed wearing a “wire” to record conversations with President Trump and recruiting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, The New York Times reports.

I had to cancel a Reverb sale, which I hate to do, but I wound up selling a guitar for 1700 bucks, out of which Reverb wanted to rake 87 off for shipping (reasonable, as it was going across country), 70 or so for a “processing fee,” 80 or so for a “sales fee,” and then another 80 or so for a “bump fee.” I’m missing a few things because when all was said and done the 1700 dollar sale was going to net me 1400. Fuck it. It’s gonna be me, selling my guitar for cash, out of the trunk of my car, in a Walmart parking lot, while some vaguely European looking dude is swirling something around in a test tube to see what the color change tells him about my Alhambra’s street value.

Any word whether Aileen Cannon stepped in her own shit again today? Seriously, the best thing for her career as a judge would be for the 11th Circuit to yank her from Trump’s trial and she could go back to being an unknown justice who doesn’t do big cases.

If you want to simply churn used gear sales into new gear you can use sweetwater’s Gear Exchange site

sweetwater.com

They collect no fees but pay in the form of a Sweetwater credit account. If you need real money then eBay and Reverb remain the only real game in town unless you feel like dealing with the Wild West of Facebook or Craigslist.

I felt bad for the buyer that I had to back out of a sale with, but godamnit, it’s a really nice luthier-built classical guitar with madagascar rosewood, which has now become unavailable except for “old stock” because it’s been overharvested like the brazilian rosewood. And it has a really nice case. I don’t mean one of those shitty hard cases that everybody’s sister who was taking guitar lessons had back in the 70’s, but one you could actually send through an airport with a reasonable sense that your guitar would still be in one piece at the end of the trip, if it hadn’t been stolen by a baggage ruffler. i’m not walking away from that with “Fender Player Plus” money.

for those convinced that Trump’s re-election is inevitable… remember that a solid third of the electorate still isn’t ready to accept that it will be Trump and Biden in the general. Also, remember that he has never gotten more than 47% of the popular vote. The economy is doing well, inflation is down, and vibes are a lagging indicator.

But most importantly: most people still aren’t following the election closely. They are not seeing/hearing Trump on a daily basis. When they do, a lot of them are going to remember how much they dislike him. They’re also going to see how fucking crazy he sounds (forget going to 11, he’s at about 14 now).

My gut still tells me that Biden is going to win re-election fairly easily. So, I’m going to hold on to some cautious optimism.

Higher views or some nonsense. The shipping price is actually not bad. The rest is out of my knowledge. All I know is Reverb and Ebay are shadows of what once was. I post my stuff on both and only post the minimum I would accept considering the fees. Not sold guitar on Reverb yet.

The questions presented are:

I. Whether the doctrine of absolute presidential immunity includes immunity from criminal prosecution for a President’s official acts, i.e., those performed within the “‘outer perimeter’ of his official responsibility.” Nixon v. Fitzgerald, 457 U.S. 731, 756 (1982) (quoting Barr v. Matteo, 360 U.S. 564, 575 (1959)).

II. Whether the Impeachment Judgment Clause, U.S. CONST. art. I, § 3, cl. 7, and principles of double jeopardy foreclose the criminal prosecution of a President who has been impeached and acquitted by the U.S. Senate for the same and/or closely related conduct that underlies the criminal charges.

I. there is no such doctrine (eta: for not official acts)
II. that’s not how you defended yourself in the impeachment

ianal
- impeachment and criminal prosecution are unrelated. it says so right there.
- more importantly, tfg is not criminally charged with what he was impeached for anyway

impeachment: incitement of insurrection
dc case:
- conspiracy to defraud the United States
- conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding
- obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding
- conspiracy against rights

nope, no double jeopardy

I agree. I’ve watched Magnus Carlsen play chess for the better part of 15 years now. It always goes the same way. Carlsen finds himself in a slightly worse position, based on computer analysis. Commentators somberly mention that the game will be a draw, or almost certainly a draw. Then Carlsen will grind his way into an endgame. The position will still mostly look equal, but suddenly whatever side of the board Carlsen is playing will start to present chances. And then, unless he is playing Caruana or Nakamura or one of the three or four other players in the world with god-like defensive prowess, he’ll end up winning, and a lot of times by the end it won’t even look close.
