Video: Criminal Ex-President Asks Supreme Court to Block Presidential Immunity Ruling

Law • Views: 11,449

He’s going for broke, folks. Trying to get the Supreme Court to openly endorse a president who is completely unbound by any laws; literally the definition of a dictator.

I still have a bit of hope that the Supreme Court won’t take this disastrous step, but I’m pretty far from sanguine about it.

Lisa Rubin, MSNBC Correspondent, and Andrew Weissmann former top prosecutor at the justice department joins Alicia Menendez in for Nicolle Wallace on Deadline White House with live reaction to the breaking news of Donald Trump requesting a stay to the Supreme Court regarding the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision after rejecting Donald Trump’s presidential immunity stay.

It would be the best thing for Democracy.

Also, we could have DC, GA AND Florida trials before the election. Florida just needs Cannon yanked off and it’s ready to go.

Bangladesh has Finland beat. They’ve only had female Prime Ministers since the end of military rule in 1990, except for a 2 year gap of interim head of government during a political crisis.

All along everyone said “ they go low, we go high!”
Did that work?
You must understand that actions speak louder than words.
Sometimes you must go throw.
In words and actions.
The GOP got away with murder for years.
Money bought up radio and newspapers.
No reporters means no reports.
I have written off a lot of people I thought better of.
Not one has admitted being wrong, or mistaken, or sorry because.
Had one guy basically say “Yeah we screamed at each other, can’t we all just go to Wildwood NJ and smoke a joint?”
No. I did no screaming at you.
Therein lies the truth.
You bought the lies, pissed on people, and what the fuck are you saying?
And they still post right wing lies, not in the name of Trump, but because they wish they had a better choice and he’s old and the same old same old.
I really did a deep dig at what I did cutting ties.
Nope.
Fuck em.
Saw a few last weekend.
They would not meet my gaze.
Bye.

Lisa Murkowski got herself elected as a write in once. She’s a much better person, but Trump is much easier to spell, and he has devotees rather than supporters. I’m not 100% sure, but it’ll certainly hurt him to be a write in.

Please, please, please.

The Trumps will steal so much even an Alabama GOP pol couldn’t get elected.

2020 Republican campaign accountants still haven’t found the $600+ million unaccounted for - missing from presidential campaign coffers.

The Republican campaign ran out of money just weeks before the 2020 election, and were begging for contributions.

Mainstream Republicans have conveniently forgotten that election debacle.

But because Finland is Finland, when they have multi-party meetings to line up the agenda for the next legislative session, and they’re all women, the meetings can be held in a sauna. Bangladesh doesn’t have saunas, checkmate.

Alito and Thomas would probably support immunity, doubt anyone else would.

I don’t think they would endorse the immunity that Trump is seeking - his position is that everything the president does is within the scope of office and therefore protected, unless, maybe/possibly he is impeached and removed. That means, as some have suggested, the president could order Seal Team 6 to assassinate his political rivals (or, perhaps, Supreme Court justices whom he dislikes) and unless Congress impeached and removed him, there’s nothing that could be done about it.

More likely, Alito and Thomas (specifically due to his wife’s involvement) would argue that “protecting election integrity” is within the scope of the president’s office/duties. But that’s a better argument post-trial rather than at the present standing because (at least if they’re following the rules), at this stage they have to accept the allegations of the criminal complaint as true. Post trial, they would have a little more wiggle room based on evidence presented by the defense.

Okay to summarize, here are the positive and negative factors for Donnie as a write in candidate. Any others?

Positive factors (For Donnie)
+ Trump is easy to spell even for people who can barely spell for their lives.
+ Trump is worshipped as an actual God by some of his supporters.
+ None of the above won Nevada when Donnie wasn’t on.

Negative factors (For Donnie)
- You have to write in the candidate
- Trump voters are more likely to believe conspiracy theories about votes not mattering.
- Enough Trump voters probably can’t spell for their lives.
- Biden voters will vote early, while Trump voters will vote day of, and there just might be a snow storm in swing states with early voting.

It is likely this utterly illegitimate and corrupt SCOTUS Conservative majority is strategizing any way to delay a decision regarding Immunity until after the Election. Should Trump win I have no doubts the Court will quickly put this issue on the docket and grant him any powers he wants including Pardoning himself.

These Nazis are all in. They intend to remake the world as they see fit with liberals, homosexuals, artists and intellectuals everywhere under subjugation, domination and elimination of need be. The Federalist Society cult is in control of our country via a 5-4 Oligarchy. Should Trump win he will rule from Day One as dictator with a newly stacked and expanded 11-4 Supreme Court majority including a Justice Cannon.

A great help for her, but I don’t think it would matter much for DT. His name is printed on so much stuff that his minions see it all the time, and will probably remember how to spell it. (Suddenly I see repug kiosks across the country with volunteers coaching MAGATs on how to write his name.)

I’ve been with them for 30 years for Home Insurance and probably 35 for auto insurance. I’ve filed two auto claims in that period and have only good experiences.

I’ve not had to file a home insurance claim. But after a storm, the next door neighbor, who also had USAA sent the assessor over to talk to me as well. The assessor sounded quite reasonable, easy to work with, and helpful.

What I really like about them is that I have not heard any sales or marketing talk from anybody there that I have talked to. It has been all no-nonsense and above the board. Like anywhere else, I have bumped into one or two that were not good at what they do. But in every case they sincerely wanted to help and did everything that they could.

Consumer Reports also recommends USAA and Amica.

For more than a decade, two insurers have consistently landed at the top of Consumer Reports’ ratings of car insurance and homeowners insurance: USAA and Amica. Both earn high marks for claims settlement, service, and overall customer satisfaction.

What’s more, if you’re a policyholder, USAA and Amica pay you any surplus they earn, through annual dividends. And it’s no chump change: Amica’s homeowners insurance dividend has averaged 25 percent of the premium and 20 percent for car insurance annually over the past decade.

There’s just one catch: USAA and Amica are fairly selective. So CR investigated just what it takes to get through the doors of these companies. (Of course, no matter what policy you qualify for, you’ll want to compare rates, such as at compare.com, before signing on.)

All right, a newspaper down in Mississippi and normally only covers news out of Mississippi, made the executive decision Saturday night to put Trump’s batshit insane comments regarding NATO and Russia front and center on its site. Which the NYTimes and the Washington Post did not do. This is the Mississippi Free Press, based in Jackson.

Trump Encourages Russia to Attack American Allies: ‘Do Whatever the Hell They Want’

Here’s a story about that:

How a Mississippi news site declared the national local
“Frankly, the nation’s media may well be talking and thinking too much about the need for someone to ‘save journalism’ when all of us should be laser-focused on doing the work that may well save democracy.”

I think that it was mentioned here yesterday. But Kristin Welker is taking even more heat for her wretched Sunday “Meet the Press” performance today. I think that many observers are surprised that she is not able to even meet the low bar set by her predecessor.

Go get them Mitch Landrieu!

Rupar Thread on Xitter

Desenberg Xitter Post

Landrieu stopped Welker cold, “Wait, wait, no, Kristen, wait, let me. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You can’t no, no, no. I’m not going to. I’m not going to accept that premise. In an investigation, a special counsel determines based on the facts and the law about whether somebody engaged in criminal wrongdoing. And he found out that the president did. As a matter of fact, he’s the only special counsel that’s been engaged in this kind of activity that had to say that he could not indict somebody. And that is that is a fact. And so that’s the big takeaway from this report from a legal perspective.”

Welker backtracked, and tried another lie, “From a legal perspective, that is absolutely right. He said he was not going to indict him. Let me though, ask this question. Because he didn’t have the law on the facts to do it. Right. Well, right. But he did say that classified documents were mishandled. And he said that national security could have been jeopardized.”

Landrieu stopped her again, “But let me, let me ask you this, because the documents, but Kristen, he didn’t say national security. No ma’am. I’m sorry. He didn’t say national security. was compromised and you just, you just heard from the Secretary of Homeland Security, but, but it was not. And the facts and the law suggested that the president was not engaged in criminal activity to be distinguished between the former president, who right now has 91 felony counts pending against him in four different cases. So let’s just keep the facts right. And let’s, let’s not make false comparisons between the two, which unfortunately people do a lot of these days.”

Honestly, I don’t know what’s really going on. Do I think Marco Rubio likes Putin? No, I don’t think he honestly does. But I do think Rubio is a self-interested coward who is afraid of Trump.

Trump loves Putin. Does he love him because of a financial interest? Blackmail? Or just “game recognize game?”

We may never know.

But Trump runs the GOP. Trump loves Putin, therefore the others fall in line through cowardice and greed. Look no further than Haley. She worked for Trump even though she clearly despises him. Christie worked for Trump even though he clearly despises him. And yet neither of them are willing to stand up and say so and to say why.

So there’s no need to add in blackmail when simple lack of character will suffice.

I’m getting a Firefox cant open this page on my desktop. And “Nightly can’t open this page” on my cell phone.

I guess that I am going to have to figure out what a “Nightly” is, though. bbiab

I made a screenshot.

Anderson Cooper just made Nancy Pelosi giggle.
He asked her if she’d help MAGA Mike with his reelection I think.

I didn’t say it was a good argument. I just think it is the one that Alito and Thomas would buy if they were willing to side with Trump on this one.

Also, this is the thing that has confused me the most about so many on the Republican side. They have to know that he is bad for the zombified corpse of the conservative movement, and yet every time they have an opportunity to cut him loose… they don’t.

Because Trump is giving them what they want: a white supremacist fascist plutocracy, where Medicare and Social Security will be stripped from citizens.

That’s from 12 years ago. It was perfectly correct then, and the Republican party has only become more extreme since then.

For example, it is generic Republican to support violent Republican coups to illegally seize power, and it is also generic Republican to flush the entirety of post WWII US foreign policy into the toilet for absolutely no reason or gain at all.

Trump loves Putin. Does he love him because of a financial interest? Blackmail? Or just “game recognize game?”

Note that while we surmise “Trump loves Putin”, Trump literally said of Xi Jinping “we love each other.

re: #52 ckkatz

Great info and the possibility of annual dividend sounds very nice. Thank you.

Trump also loves Kim Jong Un. It’s not hard to see the pattern here, especially with hints from Trump’s comments along the way.

Trump envies and admires these dictators because they do to their enemies what Trump would very much like to do to his enemies. It is as simple (and repellant) as that.

My parents had it. All of us kids use it for Home and car and some banking.
I wouldn’t consider anything else. You won’t go wrong or offshore with USAA.

I got nothing but good things to say about them.

Wow! Sounds real good to me. Thank you.

Yeah, I have no doubt that Trump would hand over Taiwan, Ukraine, South Korea, and Poland. He loves dictators, and especially loves the idea of a spoils system in which he gets to keep everything because he “won”

You can’t hold Trump’s statements against him because the words he issues have absolutely no relation to any version of reality. They would be random, except that they are often obviously driven by the audience he hopes to exploit.

2012? 12 years ago they reached that conclusion about the GOP? Destructive evil was embedded in the party back then — Trump just clarified what they already were?

re: #70 Unabogie
