We’re all dying. Some of us can’t die fast enough for the rest of us. L’il Kim’s demise can’t come fast enough.
In L’il Kim’s case, millions have suffered at the hands of the hermit dictator with the taste for the bizarre. Millions more are threatened at the whim of a dictator who would appear to have more in common with a 2-year old throwing a temper tantrum because he isn’t getting enough attention.

Successor
Kim’s three sons and his son-in-law, along with O Kuk-ryol, an army general, have been noted as possible successors, but the North Korean government has been wholly silent on this issue.[74] South Korean media have suggested Kim is grooming his son Kim Jong-chul, while defectors and Western media have suggested the possibility of his youngest known son Kim Jong-un who is described to be “just like his father”, has the exact same political views and his explosive tempers,[citation needed] but Kim Yong Hyun, a political expert at the Institute for North Korean Studies at Seoul’s Dongguk University, has said, “Even the North Korean establishment would not advocate a continuation of the family dynasty at this point.”[75] Kim’s eldest son Kim Jong-nam was earlier believed to be the designated heir but he appears to have fallen out of favor after being arrested at Narita International Airport near Tokyo in 2001 while traveling on a forged passport.[76]
On 2 June 2009, it was reported that Kim Jong Il’s youngest son, Jong Un, was to be North Korea’s next leader.[77] Like his father and grandfather, he has also been given a nickname, The Brilliant Comrade.[78]

Semi-OT: White House among targets of sweeping cyber attack
The powerful attack that overwhelmed computers at U.S. and South Korean government agencies for days was even broader than initially realized, also targeting the White House, the Pentagon and the New York Stock Exchange.
Other targets of the attack included the National Security Agency, Homeland Security Department, State Department, the Nasdaq stock market and The Washington Post, according to an early analysis of the malicious software used in the attacks. Many of the organizations appeared to successfully blunt the sustained computer assaults.
The Associated Press obtained the target list from security experts analyzing the attacks. It was not immediately clear who might be responsible or what their motives were. South Korean intelligence officials believe the attacks were carried out by North Korea or pro-Pyongyang forces.

Kim Jong Un is set to take over, he was recently appointed head of the spy agency.
Pyongyang’s State Security Department is the backbone of Kim’s harsh rule over the totalitarian nation. It keeps a close watch over government agencies, the military and ordinary people for any signs of dissent. It also engages in spy missions abroad. The move to put Kim Jong Un in charge of the agency illustrates the elder Kim’s concern about any possible backlash that the father-to-son succession could prompt, the Dong-a said. It said the North plans to bolster the agency by putting the country’s 100,000-strong border-guarding force under its arm.

Budget Battle Devolves Into Food Fight
A war of words developed between Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers over the fruit-related focus of three new bills.
“The governor is not against condiments. The governor’s not against fruits of any kind,” said spokesman Aaron McLear. “But he believes we ought to be focused on solving our budget crisis first and foremost.”
Assembly bill 606 creates a commission to serve the marketing interests of the blueberry industry. Another bill defines “honey” to mean the natural food product resulting from the harvest of nectar by honey bees, and a third bill adopts regulations establishing definitions and standards for 100-percent pomegranate juice.
“Look, we’re pro-condiment, we’re pro-fruit, but the focus needs to be on the budget crisis,” McLear said.
Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez (D-Fresno) called Governor Schwarzenegger’s criticism “childish” and said he is fed up.
“The governor’s turned from an action hero into just another politician,” Senator Florez said. “He should really, really take a course on fundamental government on how the legislature works.”
“The fact that he doesn’t understand these things worries me,” he added.

Chinese bloggers have come up with N. Korea jokes at a N. Korea news site.
Here’s one.
Jung Man Yong, a farmer at a collective farm in North Korea, catches a large fish in the river. Exalted, Jung comes back home and asks his wife to fry the fish.
“We can have fried-fish for dinner!” said Jung.
“But we don’t have oil.”
“Then, let’s have steamed fish.”
“We don’t have an iron pot either!”
“OK, then let’s just grill it.”
“There is no firewood.”
Angrily Jung goes back to the river and lets the fish go free.
The fish circles around and jumps out of the water, yelling “Long live the General Kim Jong Il!”
It’s probably funnier in the original tongue.

POTUS does not believe the US should be THE superpower; therefore, dropping the system levels the playing field and people will like us better.
So, these are weapon defense systems on European soil and not US soil?

He has three sons and his successor is suppose to be the youngest of them a Kim Jong Un cause the oldest is too effeminate?
Looks like the effects of either esophageal or pancreatic cancer. With either one URdone.
Esophageal took my dear father-in-law last summer. From the fateful phone call informing us of the biopsy findings to his funeral was two months. He was a WWII Navy airman flying in a TBM or TBF out of Corpus when Kistakowsky said, “Oppie, you owe me ten dollars.”
Good riddance Kim … I hope you set your people free.

First Iran’s president cheats in an election and brutally represses dissent, now the leader of North Korea is dying. Poor Obama can’t catch a break!
Next think you know Chavez will resign and the Castro Bros(TM) will be overthrown. What’s Mr. Obama to do then?

Also I’m reminded of the sketch on SNL about Romania’s dictator’s funeral (he was executed after being deposed, and good riddance):
Mourner 1: He was… he was… he was about five nine.
Crowd: Oh, yes! About five feet nine inches.
Mourner 2: I was on the firing squad.
Crowd: Oooh!
Mourner 2: He made it very easy, you know. We shot him and he dropped dead. He didn’t make any trouble at all.
That was back when SNL was funny.

If he dies he has already appointed his son as his successor. The son who thinks he is a Korean Rap star. God help us because he is crazier than his dad.
Yes, but does the son have the power base/support his father does (did)? I am convinced there are sharks waiting in the waters for the chance to kick aside this kid and take over for themselves. Kim Jong Il is N. Korea’s Louis XV: after him, the deluge.

re: #8 lawhawk
We’re all dying. Some of us can’t die fast enough for the rest of us. L’il Kim’s demise can’t come fast enough. In L’il Kim’s case, millions have suffered at the hands of the hermit dictator with the taste for the bizarre. Millions more are threatened at the whim of a dictator who would appear to have more in common with a 2-year old throwing a temper tantrum because he isn’t getting enough attention.
And when we think of the tens of thousands of men, women & children in slave-labor camps across NorKor; and the recent video shown to all NorKor troops about ‘we will use nuclear weapons against enemies of the government who seek to destroy Korea from the INSIDE…’, it all adds up to a seriously deranged, dysfunctional dystopia and Lil Kim makes it worse!

He’s Dying? Awww, couldn’t happen to a nicer fella, unless it were Robert Mugabe, Khammeni, both of the Castro Brothers or Hugo Chavez. Did I leave anybody out?
Ernesto “Dude” Guevara is still dead.

Let me pile on. Can we hope? Or would that be construed as mean? Love spell check BTW. Oh screw it. Just die, die, die and be Kim Jong ILL and dying. Bastard of motherless bastards. I will dance a little dance that day. Yes I will.

We know, more or less, what we have to deal with in Kim Jong Il. We have no idea what will happen once he croaks. North Korea could stay the same, it could get better, or it could get worse. It could be a wild ride. His son could turn out to be the Korean Gorbachev, or he could turn out to be even madder than his father. And, in either case, it is unclear how much influence the dictator’s hirelings have in influencing policy.
The North Korean Caligula?
