Agenda Bookstore hosts far-rightist for book signing
Agenda Bookstore last week granted floor-space to far-rightist Norman Lowell, for the book-signing event of his reprinted book ‘Imperium Europa’.
Carrying the boisterous tagline ‘The Book that Changed the World’, the book is described as a “radical response to the all important questions of the survival of the Europid race – that race of biological aristocrats that gave the world everything.”
Europid? Oh-kaaay…
Lowell’s book also includes forewords by right-wingers Tomislav Sunic and Constantin von Hoffmeister. Tomislav Sunic is an anti-Semitic author who collaborates with the racist Council of Conservative Citizens as well as the American Renaissance group. Von Hoffmeister is also a contributor to American neo-Nazi e-publication Stormfront.
Look for this book to become popular with certain crowds (and fjordman). Wonder if filip dewinter will pick it up this year when he starts hitting the nazi book fairs.

I wonder if The Won will weigh in on this story of genuine gross persecution as he did with his crony Gates: N.Korean Woman Publicly Executed for Handing out Bibles
SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea publicly executed a Christian woman last month for distributing the Bible, which is banned in the communist nation, South Korean activists said Friday…
Ri’s parents, husband and three children were sent to a political prison camp in the northeastern city of Hoeryong the following day, the report said, citing unidentified documents it says were obtained from North Korea. It showed a copy of Ri’s North Korean government-issued photo ID.
It is virtually impossible to verify such reports about secretive North Korea, where the government tightly controls the lives of its citizens and does not allow dissent.
Cautionary tale on what happens when there’s a cult of personality - and people worship the leader:
North Korea claims to guarantee freedom of religion for its 24 million people but in reality severely restricts religious observances. The cult of personality surrounding national founder Kim Il Sung and his son, current leader Kim Jong Il, is a virtual state religion.

A quick question for the assembled, as LGF is one of my few portals to the contemporary (i.e., people who are not old farts like me) culture:
In the supermarket parking lot today, a little sports car had the vanity tag FRAGGR.
In my experience, the only meaning of “fragger” is a military one, and it’s not something you’d necessarily want on your license plate.

That mask has now dropped, and I think that a number of the folks who truly expected Obama to make good on his promise of leading the US towards a post-racial society are deeply pissed off at having been so blatantly had.
I wonder if they are deeply pissed off or simply trying to digest the dissonance. I do wonder - I suppose if I were one who bought into Obama being post-racial and i were clear minded, I’d be pissed. But so much of the last year has been a celebration of Obama himself and the members of the personality cult may need more to deprogram.

re: #140 buzzsawmonkey
Obama may, in fact, move us to being a “post-racial” society despite himself.
Incidents like that of Gates, where Gates comes off badly and Obama worse for shooting his mouth off, work to destroy the threshold deference that grievance-mongering claims have been able to command for the last few decades.
By stepping on their own tongues, Obama and Gates may have unknowingly struck at the taproot of that deference.
it would be interesting if, out of this, there becomes a common vocabulary for identifying the various forms of race hustlers out there.
Racism is utlimately about intention, and intention is often revealed at impulse. A biggot in the public eye cannot “hide what’s inside.” Once there is a common notion that anyone of any race can be a biggot (eg “Gates is another version of Archie Bunker”) then we might get somewhere.

re: #166 buzzsawmonkey
Interesting, indeed.
If I may refer obliquely back to my discussion of the Eastwood film Gran Torino earlier today, there is a scene there where Eastwood, intervening in a confrontation between some black “gangsta” types and one of the girls from his neighbor family, tells the young “wigger”-type she is with to get lost.
The “wigger”—a white kid trying to be “hip-hop street”—comes off looking like a complete fool when trying to cozy up to the black kids harassing him and his Hmong date.
Gates—who, in several of the videos which have been posted in links here, is seen using “street” expressions—comes off as if he were trying to prove his “badass street cred” with the police, while simultaneously trying to use his Harvard status and connections. He failed miserably—and, in his effort to be both Harvard and “street,” showed himself to be, weirdly enough, a “black wigger,” which is precisely what he was trying to prove that he wasn’t.

I do recognize that. There is a guy who works for me that was a sponsored gamer - he’d game in tournaments and even went overseas a few times. There is a skill there, no doubt.
But adopting the term ‘gamer’ struck me as a sort of attempt at social self-promotion by gamers. Kind of the way “Trekies” went on a smiology jihad and got everyone in the media to use “Treker” - like that made being a 35 year old dressing up in costumes and playing out fantasies in front of convention centers was an activity that needed greater social respect.
The other thing is this - what do gamers think of people who play Scrabble? Or Gin Rummy? Are they ‘gamers’ too? They play games. Or are do they occupy a different strata in the amusement caste system.
/ (sorry - on reading that I am being a smart ass, but gamers should take it in the gentle teasing that it is intended to be and not trace down my IP and attack my servers in retribution).

I can’t blame anyone who has ongoing health problems for wanting the government to make it all seem easy and take their worry away.
Not that the government can/will do that. I just can see why some people are intransigent on the subject. But with the current system, the healthy pay for the sick. In the proposed system, the healthy will still pay for the sick (as well as employ an new tier of government workers), but the sick will pay less.

What does “frag” and “fragger” connote among young people, nowadays?
Thanks for your help.
Ed - I found this “non-military” definition at the Urban Dictionary:
fragger 23 up, 3 down
Online gaming term, a killer, or to “frag”, used in First-person shooters
*Has just won a game*
Man im a pro fragger
You might want to bookmark the urban dictionary, as I have. I often need it.

COD4 - SAW (red dot) primary, M-60E4 (red dot) secondary for those pesky choppers.
COD/WAW - MG-42 (doubletap for that ripping chainsaw effect in close quarters) primary, M-1919 (doubletap) secondary and counter-sniper.
Bandolier on all kits.
If I’m sandbagging, or there are fewer then six vs six, I tend to run a shotgun-large caliber pistol- two frag nade combo (COD4 - Desert Eagle, COD/WAW .357 Magnum).

Render and others, anyone try this game? It’s a blast, nothing like being a medieval knight on horseback and building an army of archers, cavalry and infantry and using tactics to defeat hordes of your enemies. Lots of mods for it too, I played the hell out of the Hundred Years War mod, lead English longbowmen or French knights and whack things. Very addictive.

See you on the overnite.
Your quip reminds me of a cool story.
Colonel Henry Mucci, who led the daring raid to liberate the POW camps at Cabanatuan (which held emaciated survivors of the Bataan Death March), asked his Army Rangers to volunteer for the exceptionally risky mission. First, though, he told them that he would turn his back - and when he turned around, he would see who had stepped forward, but specifically let his men know that he would not look down on anyone for choosing to stay behind.
He turned his back as promised, and when he turned back around to look, they were in the same position in relationship to each other that they were before he had looked away…because not a single man opted to stay behind.
(Telling this from memory - hopefully I got it right. I just love that story.)

I’ve just finished a new feature for the LGF Blog — a “timeout” block, instead of a permanent block. It’s a temporary block on a registered lizard’s account that expires in 24 hours.
I did this to give us some more flexibility in handling the situation when discussions turn into flame wars or people’s tempers flare up. The idea is to give people a chance to cool down and think about whether they want to push it to the point of losing their account, before it gets there.
If your account gets a timeout, you see the message, “This account is temporarily blocked - please try again later,” when you try to log in.

Very good idea, thanks.

Best idea on the bad club bouncer thing.
As soon as you get paid in, get one beer, walk over to the biggest most bad looking one of the bouncer crew.
Smile ask him to check how nice your teeth still are.
He will.
Then ask him, “If I get drunk and act stupid and you have to bounce me, just hit me in the stomach or just trip me and make me fall on my ass.
They will take care of that, and you get to keep your teeth.
One time I was in a cool basement rock club in Hawaii with my buddy George…He got drunk and told me me was going to kick the biggest guy’s ass…I’m pleading George for gods sakes no stop it..Nope..Who is the biggest guy here? Stop it George…And sure enough he walks up to some huge dude and said he wanted to kick his ass…He was slurring so bad and I’m going…don’t listen to him please! holding back George…It was so close to being a full on brawl… I took George home in a taxi..Asshole

Our new Office Computer (Dell 540 Studio Mini Tower + 20” Screen) arrived on 7/22 between lunch and dinner. Pretty nice piece, runs well, made it dual-boot Windows Vista HP x64 and Ubuntu 9.04 Linux. Got a BIT skunked again on aesthetics. The screen is an “Ebony/Ivory” combo - adopting the current Apple “Look” - in the “ad” it was made to look Black/Light Gray. Got “skunked” similarly on a lost Pantech “Ice Cream Bar” Phone that was WHITE! rather than the Light Gray it appeared to be in the “ad.” Phone was GOOD - Color was weird, our employee lost it - Maybe He Didn’t like WHITE either. Perhaps Manufacturers/Distributors should be required to disclose the color “white.”

Through the looking glass on YouTube
Clips from it have been featured worldwide — on CNN, MSNBC, the Drudge Report, Rush Limbaugh’s radio talk show — and catapulted the woman into the unlikely role as a spokeswoman for the “birther” movement, whose members question whether Obama is a native-born American and eligible to serve as president.
…
It wasn’t just people in the audience. Conservatives everywhere are applauding a crazy woman.
The star of the show — known as “Crazy Eileen” to callers of a Sussex County talk radio station — has gone into seclusion, declining interviews and avoiding publicity, even as previous statements by her have emerged referring to Obama as “the antichrist” and speaking of aliens and angels.
“She doesn’t want to be another ‘Joe the Plumber’ I think,” said Dan Gaffney, program director and morning host at WGMD 92.7 FM.
…
Mainstream Republicans who want the issue to go away are having a tough time stamping it out as the birthers resurface with assists from Limbaugh and CNN’s Lou Dobbs.
…
The gunman who killed a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., in June was a birther, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization which tracks hate groups and extremist activity. The center Friday called for Dobbs’ dismissal from CNN for his role in promoting the movement.“This conspiracy theory was concocted by an anti-Semite and circulated by racist extremists who cannot accept the fact that a black man has been elected president,” SPLC President J. Richard Cohen wrote in an e-mail to supporters.

Gaza campers stage ‘Schalit abduction’ at final ceremony
Children in Hamas summer camps reenacted the abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit in the presence of top Hamas officials, according to pictures obtained by The Jerusalem Post.
According to Israeli defense officials, more than 120,000 Palestinian children are spending the summer in Hamas-run camps. In addition to religious studies, the children undergo semi-military training with toy guns.
At a recent summer camp graduation ceremony, the children put on a show reenacting the June 2006 abduction of Schalit. Present was Osama Mazini, a senior Hamas political leader, who is in charge of the Schalit negotiations with Israel on behalf of the terrorist group.

Agreed. That makes him a monster, but not a liar. The people at Operation: Rescue who egged him are like the suicide bomber recruiters who send dozens of people off to murder and die, while they justify their own survival by saying how important they are to The Cause. Teenage bombers are rescued from Taleban suicide training camps
…The Taleban turned to children as potential suicide bombers because they were impressionable, less likely to be detected, and better able to reach their targets.“They are told that the Pakistani Army has become an enemy of Islam, as it is fighting for Christians and Jews,” said a senior official involved in the interrogation of potential suicide bombers who have surrendered or been captured.
On the day of a planned attack, the designated suicide bomber is taken to a mosque to be congratulated for being chosen by God. “Sometimes he is also heavily drugged before the attack,” the official said.
The children were told that they should not allow anyone, even their parents, to get in the way of jihad. “You must not hesitate even to kill your parents if they are on the wrong side,” said Kurshid Khan, 14, who was selected for training which could have taken him to South Waziristan. …

Somebody is lying (for Jesus no doubt): The Kansas City man charged with killing Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller said in an interview he was angry at a major anti-abortion group that he thought had abandoned him…In a phone interview Friday, Roeder said he was upset at the president of Operation Rescue, Troy Newman, who had condemned the killing and said his organization had nothing to do with Roeder…“He said that I never was a member and I never contributed any money,” Roeder said. “Well, my gosh, I’ve got probably a thousand dollars worth of receipts, at least, from the money I’ve donated to him.” [Link: www.kansascity.com…]
Good link, and interesting article showing the mind-set of this murderer.
The article you linked to had 3 pages, though, and the Tiller/Newman connection was only a small part of it. A paragraph or two down from what you quoted was this from Newman:
Newman said Friday he didn’t believe Roeder gave money to his group.“We have a database, but I haven’t been able to find him in the database,” he said. “If he did (donate), we have probably over the past 10 years over 50,000 people who have contributed to us.”
He said Tiller’s killing had undermined the work of those trying to stop abortion through legal means.
“We’ve worked 20 years in the pro-life movement to do things within the system,” he said. “It certainly doesn’t help us out when guys assassinate abortionists in their church — or any other place.”

The TORAH advises that if someone is coming to Kill You - Kill Them First. As to someone coming to “change your mind” - It is NOT so clear. It does Command that one should love G-d above all else. Take it from there.

How in hell are we supposed to fight such evil? It isn’t like nazis, who had a country and infrastructure to attack. This evil is being spooned out of a book and twisted to fit an evil, evil agenda.
You fight them by doing all you can to discredit the philosophy that underpins the murderous activities that they are recruited to perpetuate.

Sarah’s on t.v. making her farewell speech.
Hey, I found the video on Greta’s Blog and posted it if anyone wants to watch! Here is the link if you don’t want to go to the links directly…it was a really good summation speech I thought. Compared to the stuff we are getting from this admin, her focus is still refreshing and I am so glad she is standing up. Don’t agree with all she stands for but I sure hope she goes after the media and what is corrupt and sliming us today in America!!

I’m thinking it was a mistake signing an “agreement” with the Taleban.
Surprise!

re: #475 Idle Drifter
Anyone can step out onto a field with cleats on their feet and whack a round ball around with a short club. Ice Hockey has a steep learning curve with the finesse involved with skating, handling the puck, shooting or passing that puck and all the while avoiding the other teams checkers and sticks.
Are you kidding? Real hockey involves running about 5 miles a game, passing, trapping, dribbling and moving players into positions that put them at a disadvantage. Talk about steep learing curve… think of a game that is a cross between golf and soccer.

Try that on skates.
Run five miles with a 14 oz stick in your hand for 90 minutes while passing a ball and chasing other really well conditioned men who are dribbling the ball, and pass it to other really skillful players. by the way international games only allow two subs per 90 min game.

/I always liked the part in soccer where I could, on a dead run, intersect with an opposing forward at the goalpost, being careful to touch the ball first.
/sucked to be them

Sorry, you don’t see this in field hockey.
