Amazon Gift Cards

Lifestyle • Views: 3,001

If you still need a few stocking stuffers for friends or family, a good way to let them get what they want or need is to send an Amazon Gift Card.External Image

I bought a couple today myself; you can have them delivered by email, or if you order today you can choose from several Christmas designs and have them personalized and mailed in time for Christmas Eve delivery. A really nice thing about Amazon gift cards is that they have no fees and no expiration dates.

(Note: if you click through to Amazon from one of our links, LGF gets a small percentage in referral fees on all qualifying merchandise, without raising the cost to you, so you get terrific deals and help support us at the same time.)

Steele On Health Reform Bill: 'I'm Tired Of Congress Flipping The Bird' At The American People

In the latest example of RNC Chair Michael Steele attempting to tie his party to the Tea Party movement, Steele rhetorically out tea-partied a movement leader, Dick Armey, on a conference call the two shared this morning.

"I'm tired of this congress thumbing their nose and flipping the bird at the people of this country," Steele said during one of his many rants that sounded like it could have come from the podium at at tea party rally. He wielded the angry vehemence and promises to get revenge commonplace among tea partiers during the health care debate to set the stage for the GOP next year. "I intend to have my foot on the throat of the Democrats on this issue [health care reform]," Steele said.

Yikes!

All I can say is that the best gift of all is health and happiness...

...and maybe a million dollars, I guess that would be nice, too.

Y'all have a great night, time for me to fly the coop.

Thank you Charles for the Amazon suggestions. The other day I went to the Amazon website by way of your link. I was not looking for anything specific. I found a Nikon Coolpix L20 for less than I expected. I bought that camera and a SanDisk 4GB memory card. Both are to arrive on or about December 24th. Although a bit late for Hanukkah it will be a very nice gift for me.

all we have to do is come up with something to produce enough heat to boil water cheaply and cleanly. hmmmmmm Oh, btw, billions of dollars go to the winner !!

Oops!

Could New Clean Energy Source Trigger Quakes?

The Obama administration has a lot riding on geothermal energy, which it sees as a future source of clean, green and virtually unlimited electricity. Over the past year alone, the U.S. Department of Energy has invested some $440 million in projects trying to turn heat trapped in bedrock deep underground into electricity.

But the trial this week of a Swiss geologist – accused of causing earthquakes during the construction of a geothermal power plant – has raised doubts about the safety of some geothermal schemes, and may have contributed to the collapse of one government-backed project in California earlier this month.

Exactly right! They all belong in jail. They are stealing our country and our freedoms. An analogy for what they are doing. A woman goes into the most expensive hotel she can find and books the best suite. She goes in, takes off her clothes, lays and the bed and waits for the flea-infested, stinky rapist to come in and do what he wants with her. Sorry, but they are raping us and we are paying for it!! And many of the ignorant morons in this country are not only letting them get away with it, but are encouraging it! Last I heard, rape was a felony.

I have to say, this analogy confuses the hell out of me. I am not sure if it is a criticism of the healthcare bill, or some kind of sexual fantasy.

Another good camera that is just below the DSLR capabilities, and has extreme zoom range, is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35. Not only does it give a 28-486mm range, but it also has 720p HD video capabilities, image stabilizer, and lots of other goodies for a serious enthusiast who doesn't want to lug around a full DSLR or someone who wants to step up to something like a DSLR without having to plunk down the funds for a whole kit, the lenses, etc.

I had looked at the Canon G10/G11, and both were significantly more expensive. The Lumix is also fairly intuitive for someone unfamiliar with the cameras, and also provides tons of scene modes so you can tailor 'em to your particular situation (nighttime star shots, sunsets, indoors, sports, etc.).

Anyone following the insane buzz in Israel atm about a possible deal for Gilad Shalit?

Whether the deal is agreed to, it seems like Israel's inner-cabinet is formulating their final official stance on the issue right now.

This is a nice change. Tarma Delays are now limited to 3 hours or face violation and federal fines. Hate linking to this site but it's good news I got from RSS.

[Link: www.huffingtonpost.com...]

My sister was stuck for 6 hours with her infant son and 5 year old daughter in Texas from Florida. They didn't give her anything but water and her she started to cry after 4 hours w/ her kids. It was terrible. To add insult to injury they didn't even comp her anything for the misery on that flight

I think it's is a good idea but there is one catch, the airline can be fined thousands of dollars per passenger all of which goes to whom? not the passengers that's for sure.

re: #23 limewash

It is good news, once the regulatory review takes place in 120 days. In fact, the feds shouldn't have stopped with airlines; they're not the only ones who deal delays. Railroads have had issues as well. Over the weekend, a bunch of folks were stuck on a train for 5 hours during the snowstorm because of a variety of issues before they were able to get home.

They're probably figuring out how many of those incarcerated in Israeli jails are set to have their sentences completed within the next few weeks/months such that an early release will not adversely affect Israel's security posture. That's what they did to secure the release of the Shalit video; they released a bunch of terrorists early - that would have been released anyways.

I hate the idea of prisoner releases because they do undermine Israel's security posture, but if you're going to do it; that's the least harmful way.

Changing topics... has anyone seen Avatar?

Given the theme of the movie:

"Avatar" is not simply a sensational entertainment, although it is that. It's a technical breakthrough. It has a flat-out Green and anti-war message. It is predestined to launch a cult. It contains such visual detailing that it would reward repeating viewings. It invents a new language, Na'vi, as "Lord of the Rings" did, although mercifully I doubt this one can be spoken by humans, even teenage humans. It creates new movie stars. It is an Event, one of those films you feel you must see to keep up with the conversation.

... I'm surprised that the right-o-sphere is not hyperventilating more over it.

I'm just wondering if I should spend the money to go see it.

Considering the movie was written in the '90's but the technology wasn't good enough to make it the way James Cameron wanted, I'd see it. The guy is a genius film maker.

Many on the right are hyperventilating. They are calling it anti military, even thought it involves mercenaries, not the militarily. It's being called a socialist, tree hugging flick.

It's supposed to be visually lush, one of the few films you're better off seeing in the theatre than at home. And the 3D version, of course, can't be viewed at home, at least not easily.

Actually, NPR's review wasn't all that great, although they certainly acknowledged the cool graphics. They felt the story was tiresome, stereotyped and shallow, but that issues like plot and character development happily took a back seat to the special effects. Like a whole lot of people, they also compared it to "Dances With Wolves." Or "Dances With Smurfs," as South Park phrased it.

I have no doubt I'll see it, sooner rather than later, if only for it's technical merits.

Great flick, I missed the political thing. Here's a typical right wing review:

A silly poorly made story with a crazy political statment. The effects arnt great they are just ok but as the message is so strongly anti-tech, anti-buisness, and anti-christian "

I went to see it. It's a good popcorn movie. Great action, funny dialog. Corny at times but fun entertainment and the visuals really help the story along. I really like the concept and I can understand some of the criticism of the weak storyline but it was a fun movie and that's what I wanted.

Hey it's James Cameron and he's hasn't been famous for his deep storylines. He's famous for action and fun so that was my expectations going into the theater. So I enjoyed it.

I think so. It's really visually stunning. I can't stand 3-D, gives me a headache so I watched the regular theater showing and I was really pleased with how incredible the environments where. Lush and beautiful sceneries. Really like how they animated the indigenous species there. Wanted more. There is a warning it's a long movie. It's over 2:30 minutes.

My daughter saw it and loved it.
I told her I had heard it had a lot of PC sort of stuff in it, and she pointed out that yeah, it did, but every movie has a point of view of one sort or another. She just enjoyed the movie. I think for people who are firmly grounded, a movie's point of view isn't going to affect them one way or another. Sheesh. It's a movie!
