Video: The Ron Paul Wedge

Politics • Views: 2,315

This is some pretty extraordinary video, as the audience at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference boos their own speakers.

In the first part of the clip, Mike Pence is booed by Ron Paul supporters for saying, “America stands with Israel.”

In the second part, Ron Paul gets going with his isolationist wackiness while the non-Paulian conservatives hoot and scream at him. Whoa! You mean Ron Paul is an anti-war libertarian?! Who knew?

It’s a pathetic picture of a party in utter disarray.

Paul should have been ousted by the R a long time ago. I still believe that the rest of the party's issue will resolve themselves, IF it cleanses itself of this libertarian, racist, isolationist, conspiracy believing wing.

The problem is, Ron Paul is just a state's rights theocrat. Hes not really a libertarian.

With respect. Charles, I disagree. The GOP is stuck with those Paulians right now and its producing faction disputes, but that is not "utter disarray" in my opinion.

Here's hoping that the disarray devolves into in-fighting that excises the racists and the theocrats, although I am not holding my breath.

The thing is that those are linked. The JBS has always had a very strong isolationist streak.

isolationism is a legit notion, certainly predating the JBS....I take this stuff at it's face value, but just because you cause overlaps that of some racists organization, doesn't mean you endorse that organization

I apologize for going OT, however, I have just come across three short videos that I truly believe that everyone needs to see. All together, this is like 20 minutes of your time. Please watch them.

The first video is from AAAS, the American Association for the Advancement of Science. AAAS is one of the flagship scientific organizations of America and for that matter the world. They publish the journal Science.

They have a video that does not mince words or pull punches about AGW and it tells you what you can do. If you want a real, this is what the scientists are begging you to hear, video with an unshakable pedigree, this is it.

The second video (in two parts) is from National Geographic. It goes into what happens when you raise the temperature by one degree, then two, then three all the way out to six degrees.

If you want to see what that world looks like, then watch these videos. Again, the science is sound and there are no punches pulled. Seeing it visualized is perhaps much more "real" for many than looking at graphs and inferring things from data. This is the stark reality.

Part one

Part two

Please watch these.

The RedState types have yet to reconcile their supposed disdain for Ron Paul with their love of everything FoxNews, Sarah Palin, etc.

Are the RedStaters so dense as not to realize that Sarah Palin was/is buds with the Alaska Independence Party, which is tight with the Paulians?

The RedState poster, Achance, has been employed by the state of Alaska in a couple of different jobs. He does not like Sarah because she bit the hand that fed her and purged some of his republican buddies from office in the name of "reform".
Her opportunistic streak bugs him. Achance has hardly said a word about Todd's AIP allegiance.

Honestly, I was surprised when I saw this video and how sensationalized it was; of all the memories that have led to me change my mind about war, having my friends tell me what they saw on this July day isn’t even on the list.

Multiple parties seem to work well enough in Canada and Israel. Although in Canada there can be some oscillations; the left is split green/NDP/Liberal while the right is united under the conservatives.

Recently in British Columbia there was an attempt to move to a preferential voting system (I cant remember the name of the exact option advocated). It helps make sense of a plurality of parties.

I don't think mainstream Republicans have realized the danger that Rush, Beck, etc. pose to the Republican Party. I'm sure the RNCC appreciates the way the base is all worked up, but they were worked up on October 2008 too. A temporary House majority isn't going to get them a whole lot. Obama's going to have big coattails again in '12. As far as people hoping the wingnuts will leave the Republican Party, there's nowhere for the wingnuts to go. Somebody's got to pull these peple away from the rail and get into their grills and say "What's the matter with you? These guys you're litening to aren't gonna lead you anywhere."

Ah what's the use

re: #50 Alouette

I said it before and I will say it again.

When some Confederacy apologist complains about tariffs as a cause of the civil war, it is akin to an ex nazi complaining that the Swiss won't give him that gold either.

Those tarrifs impacted income from brutal and hideous chattel slave labor that benefitted only the slave owning South. To get up in arms about protecting the right of elitist slave owners to brutally exploit and degrade other humans - particularly as a non slave owner, is especially confusing.

However, we see that parallel today in the GOP, where people go out and scream for the rights of insurance companies to rape them. It truly is a strange inversion of the French Revolution. Only this time the angry and ignorant peasant class is taking to the streets demanding more power to the aristocracy.

Ron Paul is a true jackass, so much so that the has to steal misleading propaganda tropes rather than invent his own. His claim that we have forces in "135 countries" (or some similar astounding number) is an old chestnut of the left and is reached only by counting the embassy guards who are present in nearly every sovereign country with which he have relations. By this standard, sure enough, Iran and China are already under US occupation.

Countries with actual US bases, as opposed to the embassy guards, exchange missions, advisory teams, and (for all I know) vacationing ROTC students who are counted in Paulian/lefty joint propaganda:

USA (duh!)
Afghanistan
Australia (Pine Gap)
Bahrain
Bulgaria
Colombia
Djibouti
Greece
Greenland
Iraq
Israel (Negev anti-missile system)
Italy
Japan
South Korea
Kosovo
Kyrgistan
Netherlands
Portugal
Turkey
UK

That's 21, Ron, not 135.
The Wikipedia article also lists Guam (which is part of the USA) and the uninhabited British Indian Ocean Territory separately from their parent countries. They are "overseas" of course, but careless, ignorant, or plainly malfeasant propaganda gatherers will inevitably count them as additional countries.

Thinking Canadians know that US foreign policy in general, and support for Israel in particular, is firmly based on US self-interest, which still includes support for pro-US democracies.
BTW, Canada's Conservative government currently has a stronly pro-Israel policy, which is driving the NDP socialists and many Liberals crazy.
