Video: ‘We Con The World’
This is the kind of thing Israel needs to do more of, because the raging hypocrisy of the world’s peace activists is very ripe for satire.

Well, the next flotilla of blockade runners are on route to tempt fate with the Israeli blockade. Some reports claim that one of the ships (MV Corrie) was sabotaged and contact had been lost. Still, it looks like the next confrontation will happen tomorrow.

Attempted kidnapping doesn't make sense to me. They were on boat, and obviously wouldn't have been able to take them anywhere.
It's fishy, but I think calling it a "kidnapping" is a mistake at this point.

Conflicting reports.
Some say they have turned back to Ireland, are en route to stop in Cyprus, the 2 accompanying media boats were apparently breaking down (Israeli "sabotage" is suspected by Free Gaza), and the ship won't continue without the media boats.... We'll see what actually happens

I don't really know what can be done differently.
They have to identify the passengers, and identify them fast. Assess the situation and figure out if it's a bloodthirsty mob or not.
Aside from that... what can they do if the boat decides to run for Gaza?
15 | Killgore Trout Fri, Jun 4, 2010 9:14:12am |
re: #12 Joo-LiZ
This time they'll clear the deck before boarding. Probably using stun grenades, tear gas or water hoses. Once on board they'll use deadly force immediately if attacked. That will keep the death toll much lower.

From what I've read, the boat is not packed with Turkish jihadists. It's unlikely the euro leftists will greet the Israelis with weapons.
But, we shall see.

Why even bother to board? Box them in and force them to Ashdod. Build a holding pen for all the boats trying to break the blockade and let them sit there.

Maybe instead of Hssbara, serious debates, facualt information, and all that redundant information chewing, Israel should bombard the net with this type of rebuttels.
Sad, but seems like this is the actual plane on which this debate occurs.
.... And meanwhile, somewhere else in the galaxy:
"South Korea Asks Security Council Action in Ship Sinking" for an incident where a ship was actually attacked by an actual oppressor with actual missiles killing actual 42 people who weren't making any threat.
But who cares ????

MSNBC reporting (and CNN now showing) oil landing on Florida beaches.
msnbc:
GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE, Fla. - Oil sheen and tar balls washed ashore on a northwest Florida beach crowded with swimmers in what appeared to be the first impact on the state from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, authorities and witnesses said on Friday. The oil debris came ashore on Pensacola Beach, part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore which advertises "the world's whitest beaches."
At the same time, small gobs of reddish brown oil washed up in the surf for the first time in nearby Gulf Shores, Ala., and a petroleum smell tinged the air.
Maybe a song for BP is in order?
We oil the world,
We lube the beaches,
We fill the crevices between the rocks
with poison seepage...
People will be laughing for weeks, I tell you!

As with this song, the retro style would highlight the moth-eaten pseudo-nostalgia of many peace movement themes and cliches. The crass commercialism of the period would be an unwelcome but inevitable guest at any revival of 60s/70s peace culture.

Little Feat is scheduled as one of the headliners at the Kate Wolf memorial festival in Laytonville, CA june 25-27. (A most interesting lineup.) Not Tackett/Barrere, but the Feat.

Aghast. Appalled. Disgusted. I think I have been muttering these words repeatedly to myself over the past several days. And then this morning to read Yossi Sarid's letter in Haaretz. Has he taken a look at the results of his policies? And then looking at the leadership names of the Free Gaza Movement -- for I was curious to check out Mona Charen's claim that the Dohrn's participated in the creation of this movement -- has names like Adam Shapiro, the nebesh who holed up in Arafat's compound back in the day's when Arafat was a hero in the Palestinian movement ... though now days Arafat is denounced as corrupt and inept.
What's the world waiting for on the latest Gaza bound ship? Just one little sign of violence so as to write an anti-Israel news story.
