Breitbart: The White Farmers Who Praised Sherrod Were Planted

US News • Views: 3,621

Andrew Breitbart is now on CNN, and he’s digging in and getting even more deranged and hateful about the Shirley Sherrod story; he just said that the two white farmers who praised Sherrod were liars, and probably planted by someone.

He’s repeating over and over, “It’s not about Shirley Sherrod” like a parrot on crack.

Is that similar to a monkey on LSD?

3 Obdicut  Tue, Jul 20, 2010 4:23:02pm

Accusing them of being liars doesn't even make any sense.

She said, even in the edited video, that she helped the guy.

The farmers, in their interviews, said she helped them.

So what the fuck would they be lying about?

It's about the NAACP. Breitbart and O'Keefe brought down ACORN. Now they're going after big game.

John King sucks! He let Breitbart off the hook. Let him accuse CNN of not vetting the farmers, let him get away with hypocrisy. Its all about context? Really?

he just said that the two white farmers who praised Sherrod were liars, and probably planted by someone.

He's pissed off because they (non-Republicans) achieved the ability to travel back in time and rewrite history, and plant those farmers. Look at that whole Obama birth announcement thing. Like, duh.

Time travel. It's all around us.

Rush said today that this is what you can expect from the Obama administration if you go to a black bureaucrat for heath care if you are white. "You'll be treated just like that poor white farmer"

Yep, the black folks will get us./

What depresses me is that Breitbart will only benefit from the exposure. Recent studies show that exposure to contradictory facts only make wingnuts more certain of their false beliefs.

John King really does suck. It's hard to believe he'd be so afraid of a shit-eating troll like Breitbart as to let him get away with saying that CNN isn't even investigating the story. I suspect John King will be hearing about that one from his producers.

Breitbart says "It's not about Shirley Sherrod". Well, actually, the heart of this story ISN'T about Ms. Sherrod. It's about how lies are now the currency of our political discussions. And how people like Breitbart are perfectly okay with driving a bus over the facts as they advance their personal agendas.

From the link:

With regard to the initial media coverage of the resignation of USDA Official Shirley Sherrod, we have come to the conclusion we were snookered by Fox News and Tea Party Activist Andrew Breitbart into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias.

Having reviewed the full tape, spoken to Ms. Sherrod, and most importantly heard the testimony of the white farmers mentioned in this story, we now believe the organization that edited the documents did so with the intention of deceiving millions of Americans.

I do hope this ends up biting Andy in the ass.

That's an astounding claim on Breitbart's part because records about the foreclosure risk presumably exist and they will be checked. When you've dug yourself into a hole, what's the first step to getting out? Does the Right really mean to double down on this?

On a purely partisan level, it's been written that the Democrats need a "game changer" to avoid a wipeout in November. I'm a conservative/libertarian independent who usually votes GOP and I am angry and revulsed by this incident. The more truculent the attitude of Breitbart et al and the more arrant the denial on the Right--neither PJM nor Instapundit has yet mentioned the matter--, the angrier I get.

Rep. Andre Carlson weighs in regarding Andrew Brietbart's interview:

Statement from Rep. Andre Carson to JKUSA

“The incident on March 20th happened as I’ve described. It has been reported by numerous media outlets because it is a fact. Andrew Breitbart has tried everything possible to try and rewrite history related to the events of that day—including citing as proof a video that was shot a full hour after the incident happened.

I’ve refused to engage him in some tit-for-tat because he has zero credibility on this issue. He wasn’t even on the Hill the day the incident happened.

If he wants to spend his time inciting people and defending language and actions that the overwhelming majority of Americans find reprehensible, then that’s his prerogative. But it’s not doing this nation—or the Tea Party movement–any favors.”

The fact that there is a HUGE number of racist assholes scurrying around on TV, leads me to believe that exposing these idiots and running them out of town will most likely be one measure of success for an Obama presidency.

America will be a better place once these assholes have their say at the mic, and then get exposed for what they are.

He didn't have much reason to think it was false. I remember that even many good people here on LGF were happy when ACORN was de-funded. I think Brietbart's mistake was thinking that everyone else understood the inherent racism in his attack on ACORN, and that they supported it-- rather than the inherent anti-liberal attitude in the attack on ACORN, that far more people supported.

It would be great if someone at Fox had the guts to do that again, but to their whole network, about their decent into white resentment / racial grievance politicking. Someone there has to be feeling uncomfortable with the lines they've been crossing lately.

I know I might be late to the party, but I'm willing to believe Andy when he says it's not about Sherrod. It's about getting at the NAACP, it's about getting at Obama, it's about getting at anybody who's not on the Tea Party and far-right bandwagon. It's about getting at the level-headed, intelligent, liberal-minded folks in this nation who are not stewing in their own hate and bigotry, who see quite clearly that the NAACP was condemning the racist elements within the Tea Party and not the movement as a whole, and see these jack-offs for what they are, which is not patriots and modern-day revolutionists.

Those are the people Breitbart wants this to be about. And he demonstrated that ruining people's lives with lies and deceit is how he plans to do that. The man's a cockroach and the fact that anybody sees him as anything more than a two-bit con-artist says more about where we as a nation stand than a hundred Tea Party rallies.

And that's all I got to say about that.

re: #71 blueraven

The whole thing just makes me want to weep for this nation. Ms. Sherrod is a hero...not in the super kind of way, but in the quiet understanding and subsequent redemption of her own racial bias.

Breitbart is profiting form this. The NAACP and the administration jumped on this without question because they are so skiddish form the attacks by the tea party and wingnuts. It is all upside down.

I can only hope this incident backfires against the race baiters.

A very sad time.

Ta-Nehisi Coates column:

But like all bigotry, the most potent component of racism is frame-flipping--positioning the bigot as the actual victim. So the gay do not simply want to marry, they want to convert our children into sin. The Jews do not merely want to be left in peace, they actually are plotting world take-over. And the blacks are not actually victims of American power, but beneficiaries of the war against hard-working whites.re: #84 celticdragon

I can hope, but I don't think it will. Racial hatred is paying off for the hacks and hucksters.

And I cry.

But I'm also as fired up as 2008. Hello Wingnuts!

And now the fright wing is trying to dig up more smears on Shirley Sherrod. She's become the Target of the Day, which has to suck.

The right wing is trying to roll back the entire last 50 years.

The right wing is trying to roll back the entire last 50 years.

Respectfully that has been sadly apparent for some time now.

AB may have a point about planted farmers...

I bet this elderly couple is part of the corn lobby for ethanol and has therefore been "gotten" to. Or maybe they really aren't white and this was great makeup work. Did anyone rub their hands or faces?

We have to get to the bottom of this.
