Group Promoting Angle Event: AIDS Deniers, Birthers, Conspiracy Theorists

Wingnuts • Views: 4,558

Nevada Tea Party loon Sharron Angle has been trying to deflect Harry Reid’s charges that she’s too extreme, but as Jon Ralston points out at his Las Vegas Sun blog, she has a strange way of doing it — by speaking at an event promoted by a “Doctors Tea Party” group that has some very odd views: Group promoting Angle event: Medicare ‘evil’ and ‘immoral,’ Obama is a ‘covert hypnotist’ and HIV may not cause AIDS.

As GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle attempts to parry charges from Harry Reid’s campaign that she is “just too extreme,” she is the headliner at an event Saturday promoted by a physician’s group that is far out of the mainstream. The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, which is a major promoter of the Doctors Tea Party in San Diego on Saturday, has given voice to some bizarre theories, believes the advent of Medicare in 1965 was “evil” and “immoral” and once published a piece arguing HIV may not cause AIDS. There’s more, too, with the group promoting one of Angle’s previously expressed theories that abortion may cause breast cancer; it also once argued the FDA is unconstitutional.

Ralston notes this article at the group’s website, an inadvertently hilarious piece that argues Barack Obama used “a covert form of hypnosis” to put America in a hopey changey trance: Oratory—or hypnotic induction?

Oratory—or hypnotic induction?

Explains everything except why conservatives seem immune!

2 jamesfirecat  Fri, Aug 6, 2010 2:34:31pm

I repeat myself, anyone who thinks that HIV doesn't cause AIDS should be asked if they'd be willing to put their own white blood cell count where their mouth is....

Look this is why sane people need to start comparing the tea baggers to Cthulu cultists. Why go for minimal evil or weak comparisons.

On a more serious note, the issue is not that this insanity is said by a whack job. The issue is that a major American political party supports this insanity.

she trashed me about the infamous Altamont concert the Stones played in 69, stating I was a dupe to believe the media that claimed there was violence when there was not (?)...she went on to describe the stage layout etc which was all wrong...what a joke she turned out to be

i don't know who this "she" is, but it doesn't know jack. no violence at altamont? watch "gimme shelter" to see the non-violence of the hell's angels beating people and actually killing a guy. that's what you get when you put hypermacho anarchist bikers in charge of security. there's a great scene where grace slick calls the angels fascists as they are beating up nearly everyone in the front row.

As many differences as we have, arguing with you about the finer points of Rolling Stones history seems like the most unwise thing possible

Cynical slime and the dull, pavlovian hordes that believe their mumbojumbo. america! Fuck yeah! Wave some flags whoo hoo we're number one

patriotism isn't just the "last refuge of a scoundrel." It also seems the be the first refuge of the retarded.

I thought Zombie was just a cultural rightwinger with a hack blog, Zombie seems so much more crazy now! Wow! Like the queen of England is a reptile sort of crazy

offtopic IT query ...

Can anyone else confirm that DNS is returning host not found errors for "imap.googlemail.com" and "smtp.googlemail.com"? I've tested from multilple networks and locations and it all seems like DNS is broken for these hosts. This, sadly, is the host info that paid "google apps premier" customers are supposed to be using, heh.

The worst part isn't that they think Obama has hypnotic powers. The worst part is that they're not riding him hard to use said powers to make Ahmedinijad do a Riverdance in a pink tutu on the floor of the General Assembly. I'm ok with having been hypnotized to vote for a candidate, but dammit, I expect some foreign policy flexing in return!

You need legs to carry off a tutu. I'm just saying.

Seriously. He couldn't have asked for a better opponent.

Heh. With enemies like that, who need friends?

Sharron is just the end result of a lot of bullshitters bullshitting and finding kindred bullshitters that believe the bullshit and have some educated bullshitters bullshitting bullshit on their side. Maybe it's bullshit? Either that or I am hypnotized. Maybe I am Basilmarceauxdotcom in another life.
Sharron is a horse toothed jackass, with apologies to all horse toothed jackasses not named Sharron.

Noting another possible left-connection for the Tea Party out of this--one branch of ActUp has been taken over by a group of young and stupid gay 'radicals' who also believe HIV does not cause AIDS. This guy must be one of their go-to resources.

You know, SFZ, the material on LGF may be needed to explain why SFV4I shouldn't associate with the BAP on the "the list."

re: #45 talon_262

Isn't the AAPS the psuedo-medical group that Daddy Paul started/ran? If so, this is not surprising...

Close, real close.

AAPS is headed by Jane Orient.

Remember her? If not, then do you remember this name: Art Robinson? You see, Ms. Orient is a member of the "faculty" of Robinson's Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine.

And yes, the Pauls are affiliated with AAPS.

The looney-sphere is quite well connected, and the fact that you're seeing more than one of them pop up at the same time is not a coincidence.

That's where a lot of my concern comes from, to be perfectly honest.

Good article on the inner workings of the Tea Party movement from an apparent insider:

Your text to link...

Apparently they are fans of some of the nutcase bloggers like Jim Hoft who are written about critically here.

They're ba-a-a-a-a-ck! The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons also published a couple of major climate change denial pieces by people linked to the Oregon Petition. Freetoken already noted the connection. Trying to keep abreast of cranks in the age of the Internet is like trying to mop up a tsunami with a Q-Tip.
