Tech Note: Live PageViews

LGF • Views: 2,833

Here we have your traditional Sunday evening open thread, with a Tech Note added, all sneaky-like.

Today I added live pageview counters to all the front page articles, in the article byline following the category and date. If you watch the “Views” number under the article’s title, you’ll see it increase every time the page is loaded by somebody or something’s web client.

(I say “something’s” because some of the page views come from web bots, not human beings looking at a computer screen.)

Was that sneaky enough? Are you ready for that open thread?

That you support Pam Geller’s request that Sarah Plain form a committee to debunk Global Warming.

Watching that number increase is mesmerizing. Don’t try this while driving.

Pam wants Palin to debunk AGW? Cool!

I want that too. Then she can join Moncton in the corner wearing a dunce cap.

Oh. None of that is true—but it would open the thread.

Same thing on FF over Ubuntu—I has just loaded a bunch of Ubuntu updates.

Mine is on and I have had this issue, among others since the last update.

Good frog news. One of my neighbors reported a frog sighting. They are getting around.

I installed a Firefox plugin called foxy proxy last night but couldn’t figure it out.

Wasn’t a Foxy Proxy involved with Wilbur Mills at the Tidal Pool?

Every time I reply to a post I get a pop-up..That has never happened before in Firefox…I hope a hot fix is on the way..
Did you guys know that most of the Firefox code base was written by Google Developers on Loan? And those same programmers wrote Chrome?

It’s neat watching the hit counter climb—is it catching the views of unregistered casual visitors?

Thanks.
The old farts can still rock.

The page views are an excellent addition. Thanks.

19 Ojoe  Sun, Sep 26, 2010 9:03:36pm

Totally Cool, Charles.

Plus, somewhat depressing, because a lot of people need to see most of these topics, and the numbers who load the page are small compared to the population of the country.

LOL. IIRC it was “Foxy Roxy”.
