This is from TP:

Sent: Monday, November 08, 2010 2:46 PM
To: Bykofsky, Stu
Subject: RE: [SPAM] From the Philadelphia Daily News

Mr. Bykofsky:

Unfortunately your column (which I just saw) had already run before I read this email. What a shame. I assume you saw the irony in attacking someone for betraying journalism, while you, a self-described journalist, failed to get a single quote from the person you were attacking. Pathetic. Indeed, beneath contempt. How dare you pose as the heir to Murrow.

You didn’t wait for the facts before writing your screed, but for what it’s worth I, unlike you, am a journalist, not a hack. Was I treated fairly by MSNBC? It’s hard to imagine a dumber question, as I don’t work for MSNBC, but for NBC News. As I’ve said publicly before, Phil Griffin is not my boss (thank god), nor is he intellectually qualified to be. Phil pretends otherwise in public. I’m not his shrink, but I assume it makes him feel better. The remarkable thing is that fools like you believe his fantasies. That pleases Phil, but only exposes your ignorance. The proof? I’ll be anchoring on election night 2012, long after Phil Griffin has moved on to a job for which he’s actually qualified, perhaps on QVC.

I hope that clears up your misconceptions.

"Could you resist?" Carlson said. "It was just too funny. The flesh is weak."

Is that what qualifies these days as an apology? Or an acknowledgment of wrongdoing? Or is it, "You caught me with my hand in the jar. I'm still going to eat the cookie."?

Hard to understand Carlson's motivations for this.

Is he really stupid enough to think that if something became of this, it wouldn't be easily exposed? What reason could he possibly have for creating even more animosity between Bykofsky and Olbermann? (Bykofsky wrote this ridiculous "analysis" to conclude the Olbermann is significantly less "fair and balanced" than Bill O'Reilly: [Link: www.philly.com...] Where would his personal gain in that be?

The only answer that seems valid to me is that he gets some juvenile jollies from punking Olbermann. Well, he does work at Fox, doesn't he?

That all said, he does a good job of imitating Oblermann's blowhard tone in the fake email.

Where are the grown-ups on the right? One thing I've noticed about the new right leadership, Limbaugh et al, is that they talk like smart ass junior high kids. Everything is fake irony. crude mockery, and ham-fisted sarcasm with them, then it's "boys will be boys" when they get caught.
Fine, I understand. I was a smart ass kid at one time, too. Nobody thought I was qualified to lead a national political movement, though, and I grew out of it a good many years ago anyway.

Michigan assistant AG fired after targeting openly gay student leader

An assistant attorney general in Michigan is out of a job, fired after targeting an openly gay University of Michigan student leader online and in person -- then lying about his actions to investigators -- state Attorney General Mike Cox said Monday.

Andrew Shirvell "repeatedly violated office policies, engaged in borderline stalking behavior and inappropriately used state resources," Cox said.

And in that same vein:

Bill O'Reilly wants my head.

On Thursday night, the Fox News host asked, as part of a show that would be seen by 5.5 million people: "Does sharia law say we can behead Dana Milbank?" He then added, "That was a joke."

Hilarious! Decapitation jokes just slay me, and this one had all the more hilarity because the topic of journalist beheadings brings to mind my late friend and colleague Danny Pearl, who replaced me in the Wall Street Journal's London bureau and later was murdered in Pakistan by people who thought sharia justified it.

Ouch! Not smart. #1 son returned from his overseas church mission and spent the last few weeks interviewing college advisors and the various recruiters for the US millitary. The Air Force didn't bother showing up because their quotas were full a year in advance. The Navy was ok but not impressive. The Marines and Army recruiters were fantastic and spent as much time as he wanted answering questions and discussing programs he might be interested in.

Long story short after knocking the assessment test out of the park the Army had more carreer options he was interested in. He will sign on the dotted line today and plans to apply for the Green and Gold program in a couple of years to train as an officer. (Well within his abilities if he chooses to work hard for a few years).

We're both very on board with him serving the country (and possibly another country) and ending up with some great leadership skills and college funds. Grandpa was Army during the Korean conflict and Uncle (my brother) is currently a Lt. Colonel in the USAF. The service has been good to my family and built some impressive men and women.

For me, this is beyond irresponsible on the part of Carlson. It has crossed over into the realm of the truly weird. And for someone like Carlson, who clearly wishes olbermann nothing but ill will, writing an email like that to the columnist is actually unnecessary. The "fake" email actually sounds very much like something keith would (and probably will) say. When this melodrama finally plays itself out, it will end with keith legitimately writing something very much like the fake email written by Carlson. So tucker both wasted his time and pissed away his credibility in one fell swoop.
