Video: Sarah Palin’s Facebook Page Being Scrubbed in Real Time

Wingnuts • Views: 28,741

Following the shootings in Arizona, Sarah Palin’s Facebook drones went into overdrive, scrubbing any and all criticism from her page. Someone captured this video showing the comments disappearing as fast as they’re posted; I don’t know what the final count of deleted comments is, but it has to be in the tens of thousands. Watch the numbers…

That is some really freaking fast editing.

They must have hired outside help to keep up. That's about a deletion every second or so, at minimum.

Palin-bots™ hard at work.

Despite all that futile effort, she continues to melt.

Nate Silver tweets:

@fivethirtyeight: Great timing for Palin: Marist poll shows her trailing Obama by 26 points.

I saw that on Andrew Sullivan's blog earlier. I haven't been going to his site as much recently, as thinks its a good idea to hack the safety net in the US to pieces without a way of insuring the least in society suffer a massive slide, along with thinking China's becoming more powerful is a good thing. To be fair, I don't agree with everything on LGF, but I am closer to the general politics here.

I have visions of Palin handlers saying:

"See Sarah - Everyone loves you! Not a single negative comment on your facebook page!"

re: #7 ProLifeLiberal

What's funny about LGF is this. In the US, right now, LGF would probably be considered to have an 'average' of center-left.

Anywhere else in the world, or just a few years ago in the US, this group would be considered to have an 'average' of center-right.

I dont understand.. sorry, not a big facebooker.. I see a few parts where the total goes down by 3-4 but it looks like that's it, what am I missing? Where are the tens of thousands that the post talks about? I mean the total comments is 3,739 at the beginning of the video and 3,756 at the end..

When the comments disappear that is the mouse clicking on the previous comments link i think, and the page is turning.. what am i missing?

16 Linden Arden  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 5:57:10pm

So everyone knows that Sarah is seething as a scorned misunderstood woman all this week.

Which guarantees future idiotic tweets and comments on her part. On Intrade her bid to win in 2012 is down to a penny while Obama is $57 and Romney leads Republicans with $8.

Politics ain't beanbags.

17 ProGunLiberal  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 5:57:39pm

In the world overall, I think I would be considered to be status quo that is in Sweden or Finland (maybe a click to their right). I think that's Center-Left?

What's strange about this is the fact that Sweden and Finland (among other Northern European nations) have an...unusual relationship between Church and State.

18 jamesfirecat  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 5:59:09pm

All that and yet they still left up...

Tina King: It's ok. Christina Taylor Green was probably going to end up a left wing bleeding heart liberal anyway. Hey, as "they" say, what would you do if you had the chance to kill Hitler as a kid? Exactly.

There needs to be some kind of fancy turn of phrase about the scariest thing about the ability to censor others/history isn't what is removed, but what they choose to leave behind...

re: #14 blinky42

The second number, the total number of posts, keeps going up and down. Every time it goes down, there must have been a deletion. But, since the number goes up so frequently and by amounts exceeding 1 at a time, you can assume that there are even more deletions happening between clicks, that never register in the total as an increase.

It represents a fuckload of deletions, at a very fast rate.

re: #29 ProLifeLiberal

All you could ever know would be a minimum number of deletions during that time period, and you would have to assume that the actual number would be higher.

But how could you estimate what that "offset" would be? I guess just go for the minimum.

32 bratwurst  Thu, Jan 13, 2011 6:09:19pm

It has taken a day for the full impact of Mrs. Palin using the term "blood libel" to describe her experience this week. I happen to be a Jew, but I feel that anyone of any background with any sense of the history behind this should be absolutely outraged. The fact that Dershowitz and/or a right-wing rabbi have given their blessings to her using the term is absolutely meaningless to me. Take a moment and read about the Kielce pogrom and how 40 Holocaust survivors were MURDERED in 1946 thanks to blood libel. How in the world could Sarah Palin compare people complaining about her gun sight map to mass murder of Holocaust survivors? It takes a truly selfish and awful person to suggest such a thing.

Thanks... I went and purchased an inexpensive 14 mp camera. Most of those really nice night shots you've seen from the last time I was there, were taken on a 10 mp 300 dollar camera that belonged to my date on that trip. My regular camera was a 3 mp, which took really nice day shots, but stinks in night shots.

So, I didn't have a lot of cash right now, so this 14 mp wasn't 300 dollars or anything, but I tried it out with night and low light shots, and I think it will do.

I'm bring along 10 gigs of storage... so, lots of pics coming.

I agree, there is too little information to go on, the ten thousand number should be put back in the stinky place it was pulled from IMHO

Love you guys, but I think this story is petty, stupid, and entirely un-newsworthy.. Even if she hired a hundred ppl to scrub her page it means nothing, we all say how the news skewered her as soon as that tragic incident happened and she had nothing to do with it. Which was further proven when it came out the shooter was a lib and the victim was a bluedog.
The media is supposed to be objective and it is not, it is overwhelmingly liberal (except talk radio). The only way the media can be a watchdog on the government is to be objective.. not liberal or conservative.

Nice shots...

Nothing personal... but the Opera Bastille is one of the most gawd awful modern buildings in Paris... and I normally stay just a few blocks away, on the Rue De Lyon.

This time moving into a new neighborhood... Menilmontant... last hold out of the Commundards.

I don't think the changing numbers mean anything. I pulled up some samples from her page just now and the numbers are changing just as rapidly regardless of which discussion you choose. There's probably a garbage collection (heh) routine that scrubs comments from the database once they reach a certain age.

Maybe... when she was posting... she rarely posts anymore... still has an account... Charles knows who she is... when we moved in together Charles thought I was using a sock puppet since he suddenly saw two different users coming from the same IP address.

If you stray near quai des Grands Augustins - stop into the Great Canadian Pub - i know i'm horribly gauche, but i quite enjoyed the food and massive screens showing sports.

There is no reason for such a place to exist in this reality - yet it does - and somehow thrives.

I believe when i was over before the last time i was on or near the Lyon. Don't for the life of me remember which hotel though.

There used to be a good music store under the new Opera - can't remember if it was still open when i was there.

I agree - it's not much of a building, but i'd risked life and limb crossing the darn street so i was sure as heck gonna get a picture of it.

Sure there is a reason... in that small street shot, that pub you seen at the head of the street, the Highlander, a English speaking Scottish pub, does great business from what I'm told. And a bit bigger inside than what the tight entrance area would suggest.

There are a lot of themed pubs in Paris.

Every other door around that neighborhood... any street off of Rue De Lyon right down to the Gare De Lyon, is saturated with little 2 star hotels. Great area to stay in, modestly priced, great access to the Metro and the RER, and if you are into partying, get multicultural/multi-music/multi-sexed collection of pubs, clubs and people.

I noticed the pub - was the reason i thought to mention the canadian place :-)

i didn't see the Scots pub when i was over there - i also see logic in the premise as both the scots and canadians have long ties with France.

Those are probably not Parisian chicks. Most (of course not all) Parisian women are much smaller chested. Heck, in the few topless show clubs they have in Paris, most of the dancers are Swedish.

French and Italian childrens shows are to be seen to be believed.

Their channels are also tied up for hours at night with interminable panel shows usally consisting of a gent with a beard, a young man with a beard, an older lady aging incredibly gracefully, a very tasteful music act and some heated discussion - and an audience. I believe this to be a rule of state television that saturday nights must be devoted to such.

There needs to be some kind of fancy turn of phrase about the scariest thing about the ability to censor others/history isn't what is removed, but what they choose to leave behind...

This is horrifying.

This is, evidently, a woman speaking. A woman, speaking about an innocent 9 year old girl.

Call me Godwin, but...what is different from this woman's attitude and that of a female German concentration camp guard who could dehumanize the "other" so thoroughly that even the children's deaths didn't upset her?

I hope no child is ever afflicted with this sad, pathetic, hateful, evil little creature for its mother.
