Mitt: "I'm not gonna eat Barack Obama's dog food."
3 | jaunte Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:07:01pm |
I'd like to hear one of the candidates tonight acknowledge that the global workforce doubled from about 1.5 to 3 billion workers when the Soviet Union, China, and India all entered the global trade system, and exactly what they propose to do for our education system to try to keep up.
4 | Alexzander Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:07:37pm |
This kind of thing is pretty much as good as entertainment comes for me.
Hilarious, ridiculous, anthropologically fascinating.

re: #1 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)
Mitt's looking orange tonight
Maybe he's been rolling in Boehner's crushed Cheetos?
6 | goddamnedfrank Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:08:03pm |
I tune in the the first words I hear are:
"I'm not going to eat Barack Obama's dogfood."
-Mitt Romney

Ron Paul: "The country's bankrupt."
Sure, we have tons of money, and great credit, but we're bankrupt. Somehow.
10 | Charles Johnson Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:09:17pm |
Ron Paul: "LIQUIDATE IT! YOU HAVE TO LIQUIDATE IT!"
12 | mr.fusion Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:09:45pm |
I just don't get why this "balanced budget amendment" nonsense is taken seriously at all by anyone......it's mind numbing
13 | Alexzander Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:09:51pm |
Ron Paul always manages to get hugely supportive members in the audience. Pretty brave to cheer for a reduced military in a crowd of republicans.
15 | Slumbering Behemoth Stinks Thu, Aug 11, 2011 6:10:16pm |
WTF, with that bar on the bottom of the screen. Is this Mortal Kombat IV: GOP Edition?

8.30 pm. Wow. This T-Paw-Bachmann brawl is awesome. Essentially, Pawlenty is calling her useless; she's calling him Obama-lite. Tax cuts for the rich equals tax cuts for the rich. They don't make jobs. Small business tax cuts can make jobs. Or additional deductions for creating new jobs can "make jobs". Tax cuts for the rich mostly goes to financial investments and/or luxury items. Most luxury items are produced in Europe such as luxury cars, watches, wines, etc.

We have no official language. It's the official language in some states. So are other languages, like Hawaiian. I don't think we want to tell the Hawaiians their language, on the island where Hawaiian has been spoken for centuries, that it isn't official. Nor do I think we should tell people living on estates where Spanish has never stopped being spoken that it's suddenly not an official language.

OT
It's raining HARD in Lubbock right now, first time since May 12th for most of the city. Some of the neighbors went outside, as I did, to sit on their porches and watch the strange spectacle. Some of the locals on Facebook and the newspaper message board are praising Jesus, not bothering to ask where He has been in the 91 days since it last rained here. Nobody has proposed that it is God's thanks to Governor Perry for finally answering the call to the White House. Wouldn't surprise me to hear it eventually though.

What did Paul say about the Shah that we installed him in '53? And totally ignored that he was put in 1941?
Paul said we started the long-running war with Iran back in 1953 when "we sent in a coup to install the Shah." There was indeed a US backed coup in 1953, to remove the alleged leftist Mossadegh as prime minister. Shah Reza Pahlavi was on the throne before, during, and after the coup. He was not "installed" by the US. The claim that he was is one of the Paulbots' favorite talking points.

re: #565 wee fury
Bachmann says submissive means respect.
BULLSHIT!
Bachmann's Mentor Says Women Must Submit To Their Husbands
Humans cannot function without leadership, at least not when they must live and work together. And the basic unit of authority in human society is the family. The husband is the head of the wife (1 Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 5:23), and children are to obey their parents (Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:2).
Husbands are to instruct their wives in things of the Lord (1 Corinthians 14:35), and parents are to instruct their children (ps. 115-116).
...
Many had planned all their lives to become housewives and mothers, believing such a calling would bring meaning and fulfillment to their lives. Now they are told by the feminists that it is ‘demeaning’ and ‘unfulfilling’ to be a housewife, and they don’t know what to believe. They are frustrated as housewives and feel guilty for not being ‘more,’ but don’t feel any inclination for anything else. And the husband, who planned all this life to be a traditional husband and father and thought he was marrying a traditional wife, feels threatened, insecure, and resentful about these changes in his wife. If the wife goes to work, he may resent sharing housework; that wasn’t what he bargained for when he entered the marriage (p. 124).

Record of family’s global corporation follows Jon Huntsman Jr.
Huntsman’s corporate experience also carries political risks, however. Some of the products made by Huntsman Corp. have alarmed environmentalists and been phased out of the market. The $9 billion-a-year company has eliminated hundreds of U.S. jobs as it gradually shifts operations to Asia. And it has helped fund cancer research even as it stands accused of exposing communities near its manufacturing plants to cancer-causing and other harmful chemicals.
