Video: President Obama’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner Speech

Landing major blows against wingnut memes
Humor • Views: 28,511
Youtube Video

Note that because Obama makes a joke about the incredibly dumb right wing attack meme that he “eats dogs,” the wingnut blogs are crowing today that they “made him own it.”

Hey, geniuses, here’s a free clue: Obama was laughing at you. And everyone else is too, except your audience of delusional wingnut drones.

They "made him own it"?!?!?! Didn't he write it himself in a book years ago?

Some good stuff in there. Though frankly, the correspondent's dinner just makes me think of what a shitty state the media is in.

OT: I'm a grandpa for the second time. My first grandkid just turned 16 on the 17th, and now he has a little brother named William Fredrich. My avatar is a poor cellphone pic of the little guy, 8lbs 7oz of cry and cuddle.

Weird coincidence - he was named by my daughter and her boyfriend, neither of whom knows that the combination of William Fredrich is a name that comes up in a half dozen generations of my paternal family from my grandfather William Fredrich to his great great grandfather William Fredrich.

Aww, dude, congrats!

Thanks.
My daughter had a tough time of it. They had to induce, then the doctor screwed up the epidural, then went and did a C-section on another patient, so my daughter had to wait until came back to get a the epidural done correctly. Then her blood pressure tanked to 84/56 when the doc got it right.
She has 7 holes in her back where the doc tried.

The little man has a slight heart murmur but that is common in my family. The kids always grow out of it.

Wanted to post this under Steyn's column, but it went the way of dodo, so why not rehash it here:

Yeah, as if there was any comparison between actions of an adult in full control of the situation that led to the animal suffering and action of a 10 year old who had no control of the situation and didn't make any animal suffer by that action (and let's hear complaints about cows, pigs and chickens now...).

The authors: Thomas E. Mann is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Norman J. Ornstein is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. 66 Obdicut  Sun, Apr 29, 2012 12:13:31pm

I've never seen any reason to give bigotry or intolerance a pass simply because it's linked with a religion.

If it's entirely internal to a religion-- like the Catholic Church not allowing female priests, well, it's a voluntary thing to remain Catholic, though it's still obviously shitty on their part. But it's internal, and it's got nothing to do with me.

But to excuse bullying or any other sort of bigotry on the basis of "Well, my religion tells me to be a bigot"-- fuck that. If your religion tells you to be bigoted, that part of your religion sucks and you should change it.

It was a bunch of casual, relaxed writers and stuff, and it was all kind of awkward.

He just told me to take it easy, to walk around without the tray, and tell people if they wanted anything to ask me for it, but otherwise to just hang out. I did, and it was fun.

They were always there. The idiots; the mad men. The internet simply gave them a voice and now with Twitter it's almost in real time. We get to see the hidden voice of people who would normally not share these thoughts in public.

Blogs or Twitter accounts have replaced what used to be that crazy neighbor whose house was surrounded by a 6 foot tall barbed wire fence and dotted with painted mural boards and signs communicating the impending doom of world government. That took a lot of effort. Now, all they need is an iPhone to create their "virtual compound."

I understand that dynamic and don't disagree. But still, it's a very stark reality that as a whole, our civilization hasn't progressed very much.

Oh I know. It can be depressing. I've said it before and that is modern man is still basically a bunch of "cave people" with high tech gadgets.

Just finished brushing Old Man Dog, treated him and took him out.

After two hours of grooming, I thought he deserved Steak leftovers.

He was a good sport.

By all means, vote for the humorless douche bag.

On Saturday, two key advisors to the Romney campaign reiterated their opinion that Obama's comedy routines were too far removed from the responsibilities of the presidency, and stated that Romney will make no efforts to follow in the president's comedic footsteps.

At first, I thought the graf came from The Onion, because it's funny. Then, clicked the link and saw it was the LA Times. Still funny, but for different reasons.

Nixon was on Laugh-In. It was a lame appearance, but not Romneybotic. Romney has no sense of comedic timing, or anything, really.
