I see that up in the Pages we have yet another entry from the Aigle-bot, this time linking to an entry at the New English Review, a nest full of Jihad Watch members, contributors to the likes of WND, Geert Wilders, etc.
The article is a pretty typical example to pigeonhole a mainstream (read "liberal") Protestant denomination as being "monomaniacal" in their anti-Israel stance, etc.
The CAMERA organization is really hitting bottom.

After days of ridicule for launching a conspiracy theory-fueled investigation into Barack Obama’s birth certificate, Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett on Tuesday backed off his threat to keep the president off the ballot in November and apologized to his state.
“If I embarrassed the state, I apologize, but that certainly wasn’t my intent,” Bennett said in an interview with Phoenix radio station KTAR. “He’ll be on the ballot as long as he fills out the same paperwork and does the same things that everybody else has.”

This week science fiction writer Elizabeth Moon argues that everyone should be given a barcode at birth.
“If I were empress of the Universe I would insist on every individual having a unique ID permanently attached - a barcode if you will; an implanted chip to provide an easy, fast inexpensive way to identify individuals.
It would be imprinted on everyone at birth. Point the scanner at someone and there it is.
Having such a unique barcode would have many advantages. In war soldiers could easily differentiate legitimate targets in a population from non combatants.

So, you'd have just let the failing companies go under?
Someone clearly does not understand the concept behind the their business plan. Bain did provide money to failing companies that they thought were positioned to earn good returns under new investor management. However just as often they seem to have acquired companies with a failing business model solely in order to borrow heavily against them, give themselves a dividend from the windfall and then within a few years (once the bankruptcy/IRS rules on the distribution were satisfied) have the company declare bankruptcy.
I don't like the idea of people playing "Heads I win and Tails I win Too" with other peoples money and livelihoods. But that seems to be the name of the game on Wall Street now.

The part of the answer is: Union needs to be more flexible. Union not bad for steel workers, union needed to keep them from getting hurt by low safety standards. But union must learn when it no can dig in heels, for union only have members if mills makes money.

It's ironic in that it was a Fox show but I immediately flashed on the intro to the short lived (alas) SF series "Dark Angel". Much better than that Firefly dreck but just as unfortunately killed off.
OK, now we agree of something. Moving Dark Angel to Fridays in its second season was foolish, though I think it was also that after 9/11 Fox didn't really like having a show where the heroine was fighting a corrupt American government.

In much of manufacturing, the cost of direct labor is much smaller than the cost for energy or raw materials or scrap/repairs. For a steel mill to really be efficient it has to have modern efficient equipment and controls, and that requires capital investment. But if you are on a mission to hurry up and make a business seem more profitable right now without requiring any investment, then the easy thing to do is slash labor costs by hacking the union to death.
In the big picture, labor cost reductions may be small gain, but they won't require time or a capital investment. And if all you need to do is show evidence of a turnaround in the works in order to leverage more cash out of the operation, then demonizing the labor force is an easy target even if it won't make the place stay competitive for the long term.

Barcodeing would eliminate whole departments within departments of government stuff.
No need for driver's licenses, credit cards, birth certificates.
Then there would be the increase in fraud/crime departments from people altering bar-codes and forging them . . .

re: #98 ProGunLiberal
I've never seen Firefly, but did see Serenity.
What are the problems with Firefly?
Oy. Where do I begin? There is no way that many inhabitable planets with near normal gravity will be in ONE SINGLE SOLAR SYSTEM. That all of the survivors could get moved interstellar distances but not have interstellar drives once they get there? That they heroes just happen to be clones of "Outlaw Josey Wales" level confederate soldiers while the ebil gobernmet is pure Union? That the whole "Wild wild west" schtick was never explained - why would Joe Snuffy be looking at the south end of a mule that's headed north in a universe where cheap fusion (see the Serenity class itself!!!) exists?
The real reason is that Joss Whedon is, frankly, the laziest writer this side of Stephen King or Annie Rice. He loves to blow it all off as unimportant but, despite the super particle of the week problem, the reason Star Trek is still around is because they at least tried to pretend to actually be SF. Firefly never even tried. I am surprised Fox didn't push it harder as it fit their political spin perfectly.
Dark Angel was real SF unlike Firefly. As DF notes, that probably scared the piss out of Fox in post 9/11 America.

The RPG Traveller had a story arc involving a Civil War that none of the factions could win. Towards the end there was a supplement called "Hard Times" about the collapse of civilization. One of the most ... difficult... illustrations I've ever seen in an RPG supplement was of a pregnant woman with a child at her feet in front of an ATM being told "Credit Denied. I think the SF concept was a low priority for him. Even though he decided to go so far as keep sound out of space. But I digress. His science, while you're totally correct in that it's horribly flawed, isn't all that worse than Star Wars. His strengths lie in his characters and dialogue. I'd argue that he had a much more interesting sci-fi concept at least in Dollhouse.

re: #115 ggt
THIS really pisses me off!
Margaret Sanger is kinda hard to defend because she was a believer in Eugenics and actually wrote down in letters to others many of the thoughts and ideals that the current "anti-planned parenthood" crowd accuse her of having. The fact that eugenics was popular then and that very many other people accepted it is still not an adequate defense.
Rather one needs to point to actual actions and I have seen lengthy and detailed responses on this site as regards Sanger and Eugenics. (statistics, clinic locations, her later statements, etc.)
Still none of that means a damn thing in the age of the 15 second (at most) sound bite. What can you say? Better what can you say that will be accurate?
"Well yes Sanger was a racist but so was everyone else then?"
"Sanger believed in the theory of eugenics because most all "smart" people did then?"
Your digging yourself a hole trying to defend Sanger, this isn't about Sanger, it is about Planned Parenthood. Defend the positive, relate the positive story of the current services provided of which abortion is only a fractional part. Who cares whether Sanger was a saint or a demon, and why get drawn into arguing about it when it only hurts your cause to do so?
The only point that needs to be made is that Planned Parenthood does a lot of good for many hundreds of thousands of people across this country. Irregardless of any views Sanger may or may not have had Planned Parenthood has, like all adult offspring, grown up and chosen it's own path. Margaret Sanger's opinions on anything ceased to matter to anyone except historians quite a while ago.

Amy kind of annoys me.
Speaking of the Doctor...
Recently, Doctor Who won a victory over Star Trek by becoming the longest-running science fiction series ever. Twice as many actors have played the Doctor over its entire run as have played James Bond. All the way back in the '70s, the role belonged to Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor), and his biggest fan in the universe was a geeky kid named David McDonald.
And McDonald was a megafan to an extent that few men could begin to realize. As a child in school, it was all he ever wrote about, to the point where his teacher had to tell him to stop before she had to fail him. His most treasured possession was the stripy Doctor Who scarf his grandmother knitted him.
But he was a talented kid, even if he channeled all that talent into incessantly ranting about Doctor Who (a teacher still has one of his essays about the Doctor, titled "Intergalactic Overload," in which McDonald talked about becoming obsessed with the thought of being the Time Lord himself). And where most kids eventually drop their fantasy of growing up to be, say, a Jedi, David McDonald stuck to his guns and joined acting school. Only, because they already had a guy named David McDonald, he changed his name to something that a lot of nerds will find instantly familiar: David Tennant.
Tennant worked hard, forging himself a successful career in Shakespearean stage productions, until one day, while recording a radio play, he learned of a project that was being recorded next door: a Doctor Who animation being produced in an attempt to revive the series after a 14-year hiatus. This was Tennant's big break. He crashed the production and managed somehow to convince the director to give him a small role. Now that his foot was in the door, he was able to audition for the role he was born to play once the series geared up again. And guess what? He lost to Christopher Eccleston.
Oh, but they gave Tennant the role a year later, when Eccleston quit. And Tennant went on to be voted the best version of the Doctor ever by fans, which makes sense, because he knew the character better than anyone in the history of the universe. As if that wasn't a big enough screw you to the realists who mocked his obsession, he also married the daughter of Peter Davison, the fifth Doctor. Because apparently his good fortune just wasn't implausible enough already.
163 | ProGunLiberal Tue, May 22, 2012 10:27:24pm |
re: #161 Kragar
Ah Tennant, biggest Fanboy in the history of being a fanboy.
Watched Dr. Who as a kid, became obsessed. Went into acting to become the doctor. Became the 10th Doctor, using the 5th as a guide. Had a charity episode where he met with 5th. In a later episode, he played along side Davison's daughter, a partial clone of the Doctor.
Then Tennant married Davison's daughter, and had a daughter.
The Doctor's Daughter had the Doctor's Daughter with the Doctor. :P

Something to scare Republicans white(r):
Strong Support for Gay Marriage Now Exceeds Strong Opposition
Strong public support for same-sex marriage exceeds strong opposition by a significant margin for the first time in ABC News/Washington Post polls, and African-Americans have moved more in favor, perhaps taking their lead from Barack Obama on the issue.
Overall, 53 percent of Americans say gay marriage should be legal, steady the past year but up from 36 percent in just 2006. Thirty-nine percent "strongly" support it, while 32 percent are strongly opposed - the first time strong sentiment has tilted positive. Six years ago, by contrast, strong views on the issue were negative by a broad 27-point margin.
See PDF with full results here.Further, this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, finds that support for gay marriage has reached a new high among African-Americans in ABC/Post polls, up from four in 10 in recent surveys to 59 percent now.
Another result shows increasing exposure: Seventy-one percent of Americans now say they have a friend, family member or acquaintance who's gay, up from 59 percent in 1998. People who know someone who's gay are 20 points more likely than others to support gay marriage.

I'd say it's why Romney's doing his damnedest to avoid anything that isn't economy related, because he knows the socon bullshit is a loser and he can't afford to let the ball get rolling. Obama's got him right where he wants him: Unable to move for fear that he'll shoot his own foot off.
And there 's the rub: we must not forget that Obama and Romney are both beholden to the same financial interests. Their economic policies will differ only in a few matters of degree.
But when it comes to social issues, the GOP is hell bent on setting the clocks back at least 50 years on minority, women's and gay rights in this country.

True enough, but Obama's got the last 3 years to run on. Romney's got Bain alone, and that's dissolving under his feet with each passing revelation. He'd have his governorship, except he's spent over the 4 years running away from that.
Which I think is why we've seen "Brochure-gate," "Wright-gate," and "Photoshop-gate" in the past few days, because the wingnuts are running scared. They gotta find something, anything, to turn voters against Obama.

Went up to Albany yesterday to lobby for the Freelancer Payment Protection Act. A few of the senators pawned us off with quite junior interns. Since they didn't respond to the sweet voice of reason, now we move on to step 2: getting all the members in their district to call their office and ask for them to co-sponser the bill.
It's continually depressing and useful how small a number of people it takes to get political change. If we get a hundred people to call each senator, we can probably influence their vote.

Sure. But if you get enough people, the money matters less. In local races, money matters less, too. Luckily for us, there's nobody who's actually against this bill, it's just inertia on the part of the Republicans keeping it from coming to the table. They're not concerned with passing good laws, but with keeping their majority, and they'll only bring this bill up to a vote if they think it'll help them keep their majority.

Video shows SC union leader striking Haley piñata
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A YouTube video of the retiring president of the South Carolina AFL-CIO hitting a piñata with Gov. Nikki Haley's face on it has the national union distancing itself from what it calls an "inappropriate joke."
The video shows Donna Dewitt striking the piñata Saturday of Haley's face featuring the Republican governor's quote that unions are not wanted in South Carolina.
The video circulated widely Tuesday in social media. Haley even encouraged her Facebook followers to check it out.
AFL-CIO media director Alison Omens sent a statement saying there is no place for that kind of joke.
Dewitt says there was no ill intent to the game, which followed the South Carolina Progressive Network's spring conference.
Dewitt is retiring June 30 after 16 years as the union's state leader.

re: #152 Tiny Alien Kitties are Watching You
Margaret Sanger is kinda hard to defend because she was a believer in Eugenics and actually wrote down in letters to others many of the thoughts and ideals that the current "anti-planned parenthood" crowd accuse her of having.
This PDF from Planned Parenthood does a good job of saying what Margaret Sanger did and did NOT write regarding African -American's and Planned Parenthood.
I will continue to defend Margaret Sanger because she earned by support and my defense.

Shakil Afridi, a Pakistani doctor who helped in the hunt for Osama bin Laden by trying to collect DNA from the al-Qaida leader and his family members, has been convicted of treason and sentenced to 33 years in prison, according to reports from Pakistan.
Pakistan's Dawn newspaper quotes Mohammad Siddiq, a spokesman for the tribal justice system in the Khyber district, as saying Afridi "has been sentenced for 33 years on treason charges and has been moved to Peshawar central jail after the verdict was announced by the local court."

The $1.45 Trillion Fighter Jet—and the Florida Deficit Hawks Who Love It
One of the Pentagon's most-criticized expenditures is warmly welcomed in tea partier Rick Scott's Sunshine State.
The F-35 fighter jet's first missile floated wide. The second found its target, and an explosion brought the bogey down. "Yes! Got him! Woo!" exclaimed the pilot, Jennifer Carroll, a 52-year-old former Navy officer and airplane mechanic. But it's Carroll's current job—lieutenant governor of Florida—that explains why her simulator flight was being closely watched by about two dozen members of the Florida League of Defense Contractors at an industry gathering in Tallahassee on a drizzly morning in mid-February. Next, with a technician from Lockheed Martin furiously pointing at indicators and whispering commands over her shoulder, Carroll nosed the simulator down to take on a ground target. "Three, two, one…blam!" she exclaimed, to laughter. "Osama, you're gone!" Virtual mission accomplished...

True. Facebook was over-valued from the start. People wanted to see Apple or Google numbers, but that's not going to happen.
If they'd valued the stock at $28 instead of $38, Zuckerberg would look like a genius now because the stock would be climbing instead of falling. Instead they oversold themselves and now the lawsuits are coming.

Yep. Both are over-designed and way over budget and that budget continue to balloon. I don't think there's any turning back though so I won't expect the F-35 program to be cancelled save any shocking new design flaw that would spin out of control. While over budget cancelling it now would cost more than a replacement.

What are they going to sue for? I think that's pretty hilarious. Those are the breaks and this is how the stock market works. They simply have to wait. Facebook will probably rise above $38 in the future. That's the way it's always worked. You bought stock to wait sometimes 20 or 40 years for it to make significant growth.

Yep. Bother are over-designed and way over budget and that budget continue to balloon. I don't think there's any turning back though so I won't expect the F-35 program to be cancelled save any shocking new design flaw that would spin out of control. While over budget cancelling it now would cost more than a replacement.
I would've preferred a Super Eagle-style upgrade. The F-15 rules the skies right now, with a perfect combat record. Why the hell mess with something that works?

Or the F-16 and F-18. The key I think is to evolve from a previous design. To build upon a proven platform and not to reinvent the wheel as much as they did with the F-35.

In their defense, the F-16 and the F/A-18 were rather radical departures from the trend of building bigger, heavier fighters, the culmination of which were the F-14 and F-15. But they weren't nearly as radical as the F-35, or even the F-22.

That would have been an option in '91, when we could simply written off the YF-22 & 23 as technology demonstrators, shit-canned the program in its entirety, and funneled the funding into a new generation of F-15 fighters. But now that we've built the damned things, we've got no choice, the die has been cast. Now everybody and their uncle needs their "answer" to the F-22 and won't rest until they're in service.

The days of having designers around like Kelly Johnson are gone. Today's Lockheed is nothing like it was back then. There was also a great deal of competition with Northrop, General Dynamics, Grumman, Douglas/McDonnell-Douglas, Vought/Chance-Vought. It was hand drawn and they used wooden jigs. re: #248 Gus
Part of this stems from the fact that FB was valued right off the bat at Apple and Google valuations, even though the company isn't anywhere near that kind of profit/revenue level. It was purely speculative and a money grab by Morgan Stanley even as Stanley's research side was warning that the revenues were going to fall short primarily because FB doesn't have the reach/revenues from mobile platforms. Where the suits come in is that the research may have trickled down to some investors/banks but not others - and who knew and when may be a matter of which investors/banks were preferred or not (and which would form the basis of the suit - withholding key information).
It was also unusual that FB was being downgraded even as it was being touted and the stock price was raised to the top of the listing range. There were late SEC filings pre-listing.
Then, there's the suits against NASDAQ for botching the listing and failing to clear transactions in a timely fashion. I think those suits have more merit than those against MS or FB. It's incumbent upon NASDAQ to clear trades in a timely manner so everyone knows what the positions are at each step of the way, but NASDAQ couldn't generate confirmations for several hours - leaving quite a few people up in the air.
Still, if you want in on FB, it's well below the listing price, so you don't have to kick yourself for not getting in on the action. And someone* was making money on every step of the way.
*Brokerages to be sure, but also the day traders and others profiting off the churn (chum).

That might be true but typically I'm asking myself "what austerity?" Greece didn't get to this point through austerity but the other way around combined with other wide and mitigating factors. Not the least of which a retirement age of 50-53 and a large segment of the population that didn't even pay into that retirement program through taxes. That's just for starters. Also, if they're going to ask for Germany's help then they have to accept Merkel's conditions or go somewhere else.

That's only half the story, though. The other half is that foreign banks were very happy to loan the Greeks vast amounts of money to subsidize the fiscal situation you're describing. And of course, they never foresaw the possibility that, in the event of a global downturn, the Greeks might be unable to pay them back.

Don't know. I'm looking at the starting point here:
Greek debt spirals after Olympics
Greece is facing a massive budget deficit as it tries to absorb the cost of the Olympic Games.
The Games is set to be the most expensive in the modern Olympics' 100-year history.
Social policy was done with borrowed cash... debts were created in secret.

2004...
The expected 7bn euro ($8.6bn; £4.8bn) burden means the national deficit is set to hit 5.3% in 2004, said Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis.
He said the previous government was to blame, for concealing the extent of Greece's economic troubles.
"A large part of Olympic, social and other spending was not written up in the budget," he said.
"The real deficit was not recorded... The public debt exceeds even the most pessimistic of estimations."

re: #286 ProGunLiberal
The Olympics debt is just a small fraction of the bigger problems facing Greece. The debt includes that which helped upgrade infrastructure in and around Athens, as well as stadiums that are now all but defunct and not in use. This article pegs the debt due to the Olympics at 2-3% but in money figures, it ranges from 6 to 27 billion euros depending on who was asked.
The socialist Pasok party, which oversaw most of the preparations, believes they cost €6 billion. The conservative New Democracy party thinks it is more like €10 billion. Then there are people like Sofia Sakorafa, a former Pasok MP and champion javelin thrower who participated in two Olympics, who calculates the cost to be nearer €27 billion.
Spyros Kapralos, head of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, settles for a figure in between. ''I wouldn't sign my name to it but I'd say €8 billion,'' he says. ''There was a lot of creative accountancy. And a lot of the works were done in such speed and haste they cost a lot more than they should have.''
The Olympic Athletic Centre (OAKA), is bad, but not as bad as the Helliniko Olympic complex on the other side of town. Here venues are not just ill-maintained but, like the economy, almost in free fall. Air conditioners and bits of panelling - apparently dislodged by high winds - lie on the ground, while the once gleaming apartments for athletes look more like a dilapidated council estate than the manicured compound they once were.
The complex's stadium, also built in 2004 - and used by Greece's national athletics federation - is cracked and crumbling, its seats broken, its stairs smashed, its track ripped.
''The conditions are tragic,'' says Kyriakos Chondrokoukis as he sits in the stands watching his son, world record-breaking high jumper Dimitris, warming up. ''A lot of money was spent but there's nothing to show for it. All we've been left with are a lot of empty shells. Go, go, and see for yourself.''
That's perhaps the reason that so many are targeting the Olympics as a cause - but it really is a symptom of larger problems with the Greek government. They spent on the Olympics, but then didn't do anything thereafter to take advantage of the infrastructure they built - and let it pretty much go to waste.
But there's also the fact that there was a divergence between public sector wages and tax revenues - widespread tax evasion played a role.

Wow, I was just reading about Cuba. LGBT rights is one of the things the communist regime DID end up evolving on.
Stuff like this makes ya wonder if today's Republicans would complain about Stalin's daughter if she came over today.
This actually reminds me of what happened when I saw Sergei(Nikita's son) Khrushchev speak on the 50th anniversary of Sputnik at my then community college. Some jerk actually tried to red-bait him despite the fact that Dr. Khrushchev has been a naturalized US citizen since 1999 and to boot he teaches at the Naval War College. The latter of which was mentioned in the introduction. I liked him. He clarified up the old shoe story and had some humor to him. I met the U2 Pilot, Francis Gary Powers' son at the same event.

Let's do a comparison as to the aid they offered when we were most vulnerable, Hurricane Katrina.
Cuba-
One of the first countries to offer aid, Cuba offered to send 1,586 doctors and 26 tons of medicine. This aid was rejected by the State Department. Also, before the 2006 World Baseball Classic, Cuba said they would donate their share of the winnings to Katrina victims to ensure the United States embargo against Cuba was not violated. However, after the tournament, the U.S. government refused to allow the donation.
Pakistan
On September 4 Pakistan offered to send a team of doctors and paramedics to support the relief agencies. Pakistan also pledged $1 million through the Red Cross.
Point to Cuba. Hell, Iran could be argued to have offered more.
Offered to send humanitarian aid and 20 million barrels (3,200,000 m³) of crude oil.

The first of what will be many class action suits against FB and those involved in the IPO has been filed in the SDNY (No. 12 CV 4018). I've read through the complaint and the main question being raised is whether federal securities laws were violated and whether the prospectus and registration statement issued by Zuckerberg et al., in connection with the IPO negligently omitted and/or misrepresented material facts about FB and its business. The lawyers are arguing that FB was experiencing a severe downturn in revenue growth, leading to lower revenue forecasts for 2012 - which they failed to disclose during the roadshow (dog and pony show leading up to the IPO). The underwriters for the IPO reduced their estimates, but those estimates weren't shared with all FB investors (the crux of the suit - as information is valuable and has worth to those who might have invested or chosen to not partake).
Count 1 is an alleged violation of Sec. 11 of the Securities Act (Civil Liabilities on Account of False Registration Statement).
Count 2 is an alleged violation of Sec. 12(a)(2) of the Securities Act (Civil Liabilities Arising in Connection with Prospectuses and Communications - loss causation).
Count 3 is an alleged violation of Sec. 15 of the Securities Act (Liability of Controlling Persons).

I searched "Brett Kimberlin" on HuffPo and found him in the comments of an article about how Karl Rove stole the 2004 election for GWB.
Another key element is the involvement of Brett Kimberlin as a source for reports in the case. We've heard Rove threatened Connell and his wife, that screenshots were obtained showing the out-of-state "man in the middle" IP address switchovers and that Connell's plane was reportedly tampered with on other occasions.
One possible reason this story has been whitewashed from mainstream coverage could be Kimberlin who has provided the media with credible intel at times but also served time in connection with bombings during the 70s. Kimberlin has been heavily involved in researching and reporting on "RoveCybergate" from the start, along with Brad Friedman, Larisa Alexandrovna and others - but not even the left-most MSNBC anchors Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann have reported on the Mike Connell election theft accusations for some reason.

Kimmerlin is a piece of work who seems to have picked up where he left off and is again engaging in acts that should get law enforcement attention. If there are threats and/or criminal acts being alleged or have already occurred, then the proper venue would be for law enforcement to take a look - local PD and/or FBI/JTTF, particularly in light of the guy's background - and not bloggers taking it upon themselves.
Doesn't matter who the principals are - wingnuts or moonbats. Criminal acts should be investigated by law enforcement and those who have been harmed by those acts should have the protections of the law.

So far I've just been looking into his background and affiliations and the story checks out so far. It seems the "threat" that caused RSM to leave his home was that Kimberlin started calling the employer of RSM's wife.
Not really a threat but an intimidating move to let RSM know that his personal life and family are being researched.
That is really creepy.

It crashes, stutters, stalls, Flash sucks on it. Went back to Firefox for a moment last night and that still sucks. MSIE always sucked. Opera sucks. Just way too many bells and whistles on a lot of sites. Especially now with multiple video advertisements. Added to that is the fact that Adobe Flash is crappy software.

Peaceful protest update: No vote on Occupy Oakland weapons ban
Occupy Oakland protesters have disrupted a meeting where city leaders were considering a law banning the use of homemade weapons by demonstrators.
Police cleared a meeting of the City Council's public safety committee on Tuesday after protesters began yelling that the measure would infringe their rights. Some swore, shouted down a speaker and hinted at violence if the measure passed.
The ordinance would allow police to arrest demonstrators carrying shields, clubs and defensive sprays.

Weaponized misogyny is when someone throws acid on young girls trying to go to school. Weaponized misogyny is when someone bombs schools where girls are supposed to be learning. Weaponized misogyny is when someone poisons 150 girls for the "crime" of trying to get educated.
Photoshopping a woman into a sexual act isn't weaponized misogyny and by making that link, Malkin degrades the real and very serious crimes against women around the world whose lives are put at risk by misogynists.

Dan Savages Announces Proposed Details For Debate With NOM’s Brian Brown
At a high school journalism conference last month, Dan Savage called out the Biblical hypocrisy when scripture is used to justify anti-gay positions while similar verses are ignored. The National Organization for Marriage’s Brian Brown accused Savage of bullying and challenged him to a debate: “You name the time and the place and let’s see what a big man you are in a debate with someone who can talk back.” Savage accepted this debate, and today on his podcast outlined exactly what time and place Brown could meet him:
SAVAGE: Where? My dining room table. Place? Seattle, Washington. Here’s the deal. We can fill a room with my screaming partisans and your screaming partisans and we’ll both play to our respective peanut galleries and I think both of us have a little bit of grandstander in souls and we will work that and I think that will create more heat than light. And so what I’d like to do is challenge you to come to my house for dinner. Bring the wife. My husband will be there. and I will hire a video crew and we will videotape sort of an after dinner debate.
The trick here is you have to acknowledge my humanity by accepting my hospitality and I have to acknowledge yours by extending my hospitality to you. And I’m willing to do that.

Anti-Racists Charged in Attack on White Nationalists
Five Indiana men were charged today in a violent attack Saturday that injured 10 alleged participants in a meeting to plan white nationalist strategy at a suburban Chicago restaurant.
Anti-Racist Action (ARA), a loosely organized group that fights racism, took credit on its website for the attacks, but it wasn’t immediately clear if the suspects are members. The group does have a Hoosier chapter. ARA spokespeople did not respond to E-mail requests for interviews.
The men were charged with felony mob action, felony aggravated battery and felony criminal damage to property, according to Steven Neubauer, chief of police in Tinley Park, Ill. The alleged attack took place just after noon at the Ashford House Restaurant. The men charged are Jason Sutherlin of Gossport, Ind.; Cody Sutherlin, Dylan Sutherlin and Robert Stuck of Bloomington, Ind.; and John Tucker of Spencer, Ind.
Police also charged two men who were at the meeting that was targeted. Neubauer said the men told police they were members of the European Heritage Association. It’s a white supremacist group that organized the meeting through posts on the Stormfront white nationalist website. The meeting was called the 5th annual White Nationalist Economic Summit and Illinois White Nationalist Meet-and-Greet. The two charged were Steven Eugene Speers of Grand Forks, N.D., arrested on a warrant for child pornography, and Francis John Gilroy Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.
Police are continuing to investigate the attack, hoping to identify up to 13 others who may have participated and then fled.
About 18 attackers, wearing masks and dressed in black, allegedly threw bats, hammers and chairs after entering the restaurant, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Ten were injured, with three treated at local hospitals. Damage to the restaurant totaled $10,000 to $15,000, according to co-owner Mike Winston.

Ja, my brother is taking it this fall for his first year of middle school. Hopefully he does better than I did with foreign languages. I think he will since unlike me he had Spanish as early as grade school.
