Romney Slips Up, Reveals Alien Amercia Plot

Pulling back the curtain on a trans-universal scheme
Humor • Views: 27,013

Their conspiracy theories and fake outrages and persecution fantasies are so irrational and bizarre, we’ve wondered many times whether today’s right wingers might actually be from some other universe.

Well, today we have persuasive evidence that this conjecture, crazy as it might seem, is actually the reality. Because Mitt Romney slipped up and let the alien cat-like creature out of the bag: he’s not really campaigning for President of America.

Oh no, my friends.

In truth, Mitt Romney is trying to become leader of the parallel universe version of the United States, known to its weird wingnut inhabitants as “Amercia.”

Mitt Romney (L) performs Amercian ceremonial dance with Yog-Sothoth (R)

This explains many things; for example, Romney’s robotic mannerisms, his seeming inability to empathize with the concerns of human beings, and his strange stilted grammar. And the laws of nature must be different in Amercia, which would explain why so many wingnuts are Birthers.

The only question left to answer: is the Romney-thing trying to bring about an alternate universe End Times, merging America with Amercia and canceling out both universes entirely in a blinding flash of derp?

Stay tuned for further developments.

This is the guy we want to get the 2:00am call when something horrible has happened that involves our people or troops?

Imagine Mitt across the table from Putin at a summit meet in the height of negotiations about missile defense or Syria. How well is that gonna go?

Of course she does. No principles.

OT: I read the response to Carrier you linked to earlier and it's a rather hysterical, ad hominem-filled rant that veers into various directions like a drunken sailor. I prefer Thom Stark who doesn't bear obvious ill will towards Carrier. Once you get a grip of his critique, it's very convincing and shows exactly how Carrier went wrong in some of his claims, and since the Dying Messiah thesis is crucial for Carrier, Stark's critique is also sort of a nail in Carrier's thesis coffin.

(CNN) -- The long-running battle between a Tennessee Muslim community and its critics over a new mosque took a dramatic turn with a county judge's ruling that could bring construction to a halt.
"Everyone is really shocked, many people are crying about this," Imam Osama Bahloul, leader of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM), said Wednesday.
"We did exactly what other churches in the county did," he said. "We followed the same process that other churches did. Why did this happen? Some people feel like it is discrimination."
The judge, Chancellor Robert Corlew, ruled Tuesday that plans for the new mosque, previously approved by a local planning commission, are now "void and of no effect."

Church wants Creationism taught as part of Ga. science standards

A Carroll County church wants Georgia schools to stop teaching evolution as fact.

Educators across the country are now developing what's called the "next generation of science standards."

A member of the Villa Rica Church of Christ told Channel 2's Diana Davis evolution should not be a part of those standards.

Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution is what almost all of us were taught in science: Billions of years ago, we all evolved from a common ancestor.

"It's bad science, and it's bad for the culture," according to Villa Rica's Church of Christ's Bob Staples.

Staples and his church are fighting for schools to include another view.

"What message are we sending to our children when they come away saying, 'I'm an ape with less hair?'" asks the church pastor, Patrick Gray.

Staples, who is a college math teacher, serves on a state committee that is working to develop science standards for education.

O'Reilly And Lila Rose Team Up To Spread More Lies About Planned Parenthood
May 29, 2012 11:20 pm ET by Marcus Feldman

Discredited anti-choice activist Lila Rose went on The O'Reilly Factor to push her latest hoax video attacking Planned Parenthood. Rose and host Bill O'Reilly want people to think that, in the words of Rose's group, Planned Parenthood is complicit in "widespread sex-selection by means of abortion." In fact, Planned Parenthood has stated that it "finds the concept of sex selection deeply unsettling" and the organization "does not offer sex determination services; our ultrasound services are limited to medical purposes."

Furthermore, Huffington Post reported that Planned Parenthood "condemns seeking abortions on the basis of gender, but its policy is to provide 'high quality, confidential, nonjudgmental care to all who come into' its health centers."

O'Reilly and Rose mentioned none of this. Instead, they aired footage from Rose's hoax video of a person walking into a Planned Parenthood office and pretending to be a patient. O'Reilly and Rose pretended that the actions of the employee were representative of the organization. O'Reilly even asked "Are we now China in this country? If Planned Parenthood is advising woman to abort because of gender choice, then we are China. And you should remember that the next time a politician or famous person endorses Planned Parenthood."

At the close of the conversation, when the woman who says she's pregnant thanks the Planned Parenthood counselor for not "placing judgment" on her choice, the counselor replies cheerily, "Good luck, and I hope that you do get your boy."

'Martian Pink' diamond fetches $17m in Hong Kong

The "Martian Pink" diamond fetched $17.4 million at auction in Hong Kong this week when it went on sale for the first time in 36 years, more than double the estimated price.

Billed as the "largest round fancy intense pink diamond" ever to come up for auction, the stunning gem was the highlight of a Christies' jewellery auction that raised $80 million on Tuesday, the auction house said.

"Having appeared on the market for the first time in 36 years, The Martian Pink sold by Harry Winston in 1976 created a sensation during its worldwide exhibition tour and achieved a staggering US$17.4m after a 10-minute bidding war," said Vickie Sek of Christie's Asia.

Contra the claim of creationists, a few small changes lead to big things:

Handful of genetic changes led to huge changes to human brain

Changes to just three genetic letters among billions led to evolution and development of the mammalian motor sensory network, and laid the groundwork for the defining characteristics of the human brain, Yale University researchers report.

This networks provides the direct synaptic connections between the multi-layered neocortex in the human brain responsible for emotions, perception, and cognition and the neural centers of the brain that make fine motor skills possible.

[...]

"What we found are the genetic zip codes that direct cells to form the motorsensory network of the neocortex," said Nenad Sestan, associate professor of neurobiology, a researcher for the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, and senior author of the paper

The paper investigated the genetic changes that occur during the early stages of development of an embryo and that direct cells to take on specific functions. Bits of DNA that do not code for proteins, called cis-regulatory elements, have been previously identified as critical drivers of evolution. These elements control the activation of genes that carry out the formation of the basic body plans of all organisms.

Sungbo Shim, the first author, and other members of Sestan's lab identified one such regulatory DNA region, which they named E4, that specifically enhances development of the corticospinal system. E4 is conserved in all mammals, indicating its importance to survival, the scientists explain. The lab also discovered how SOX4, SOX11, and SOX5 – sections of DNA called transcription factors — control the expression of genes and operate cooperatively to shape this network in the developing embryo. The changes in the genetic alphabet needed to trigger these evolutionary changes were tiny, note the researchers.

By manipulating only three genetic letters, scientists were able to functionally "jumpstart" regulatory activity in a zebrafish.

Walker DNR Appointee Sought to Privatize Trout Streams

Scott Gunderson, appointed by Scott Walker to a top position in the DNR, once pushed for legislation that would have privatized thousands of miles of Wisconsin’s waterways, including portions of every trout stream in the state. The 2004 legislation, authored by Gunderson while he was representing the 83rd District (Waukesha) in the State Assembly, redefined “navigable waters” in a way that would have denied public access to between one third and one half of Wisconsin’s public waterways.

Notice the "sportsman" picture of Walker at the bottom of the article holding a fishing rod upside down.

Americans' skulls getting bigger over time

American heads are getting larger although it's unclear why that is happening, forensic anthropologists at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, said.

Examining 1,500 skulls dating back to the mid-1800s through the mid-1980s, the researchers found U.S. skulls have become larger, taller and narrower as seen from the front and faces have become significantly narrower and higher, a UT release reported Wednesday.

Get paid to put up a Walker yard sign

The latest gubernatorial campaign finance reports are due today from Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. The two face off in a recall election on June 5th.

The reports will show that Walker has a lot more money than Barrett. What they won't show is that Barrett has a lot more volunteers. The difference is obvious when you drive through the countryside in Wisconsin. Giant, prefabricated, blue signs declaring “We Stand with Scott Walker” are planted at the corner of many a cornfield. The Walker campaign reportedly pays up to $125.00 per sign to the farmers and other country-dwellers who agree to have them erected on their land. Walker pays for the sign and the labor to put them up. It’s almost a little creepy driving past the same obnoxious sign here and there, sitting on land occupied by people who will perhaps vote for Walker, but who would never put up a sign on their own without the financial incentive.
