Rep. Joe Walsh Will Now Become a Right Wing Hero Because He Acted Like a Total Jerk on CNN

“Ashleigh,” he said. “Ashleigh. Ashleigh. Ashleigh.”
Wingnuts • Views: 42,149

Rep. Joe Walsh, who said his opponent Tammy Duckworth was “not a true hero” despite losing both legs in combat in Iraq, greatly improves his image by getting into a shouting match with CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield, repeating “Ashleigh” over and over in a truly endearing manner, concluding by calling her “kiddo.”

What’s not to love?

That tone glosses as "I respect women" to me.

If I really felt sorry for him I'd suggest somebody take his mic away from him before he digs any deeper.

Sitting inside a coffee shop during a recent 30-minute interview, Walsh had several of his trademark characteristics on display: a feverish intensity, an embrace of rhetorical combat and unfettered criticism of his opponent, who lost both of her legs and part of her right arm in 2004 after her helicopter was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade.

“I have so much respect for what she did in the fact that she sacrificed her body for this country,” said Walsh, simultaneously lowering his voice as he leaned forward before pausing for dramatic effect. “Ehhh. Now let’s move on.”

“What else has she done? Female, wounded veteran … ehhh,” he continued. “She is nothing more than a handpicked Washington bureaucrat. David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel just picked her up and dropped her into this district.”

I am a former Republican (I quit the party into Bush's term) I am sort of centrist with some conservative leanings (I self identify as a European Christian democrat social market advocate) and as a former Republican, while I was a Republican I could not figure out what Sarah Palin's or Joe the Plumber's appeal was and I don't get the appeal for this sorry excuse for a man, Joe Walsh.

Is it because thise characters voice the inner demon the right wing in America has to supress because they know they can't say stuff like that in polite company?

I think you've hit the nail on the head. People have this bottled-up rage and demagogues like Walsh just tap into that power source.

OT-Voters being disenfranchised has replaced my superpac money fears.

More than a quarter of a million voters may be unable to vote in PA on election day. That is an astounding number.

[Link: www.dailykos.com...]

Pennsylvania's new voter ID law could mean as many as one in 10 voters could be barred from voting this year, the state's Department of State and Department of Transportation have determined. The secretary of state is actually touting this, saying it “confirms that most Pennsylvanians have acceptable photo ID for voting this November.”

If they can't buy, it they will steal it. I pray to God this law will be blocked or knocked down by the courts soon.

He was behind all the Democrats in January. They're calling him a "vulnerable" candidate...

Walsh won a narrow, 291-vote upset in 2011, ousting Rep. Melissa Bean, D-Ill. After winning, media reports surfaced indicating that he had a number of financial woes, including tax liens, a foreclosure, and over $100,000 in unpaid child support. Walsh’s 8th District has been significantly redrawn for the 2012 election and is considered much more friendly to Democrats than it was previously. Public Policy Polling has said that Walsh “may be the most vulnerable Republican incumbent in the country.”

27 Gus  Thu, Jul 5, 2012 6:21:19pm

January 2012: "Walsh trails a generic Democratic opponent 49-35 and may be the most vulnerable Republican incumbent in the country."

You know? Now that I think about it I remember the Trump speech in Vegas where he was using curse words to describe the Chinese, etc. While I don't like the Communist Chinese regime, politics calls for a diplomatic communicative style but the crowd was hooping and hollering and eating up the demagoguery. So yea, you are right and it is freaky and chilling to me.

West and Walsh appear to be in competition with each other to see who can make the most outlandish, irresponsible, insulting, childishly petty comments about someone with whom they disagree.

Question: why do you never blog about extremists in the Democratic Party ? Sure, there are more wingnuts on the other side and the Republican Party has a real problem with that, but someone like Barron would have deserved a post.
