201 steve_davis  Thu, Sep 6, 2012 8:12:01pm

re: #106 Petero1818

The speech is a good one. He did not need soaring rhetoric, as that is what the GOP will attack. He needs to do what he is doing. Outline his achievements, outline the path he intends to follow with details. The speech is not the most exciting. But it is the most important.

Maybe way too obvious to even mention, but the fact that he had an area of the speech dedicated to change, and an area dedicated to hope, just was masterful. As I've said elsewhere, Obama doesn't play chess. He plays Go. And Go is a game where for most of the time, the person who is winning often is doing so in ways that only extremely skilled players recognize. Often, territory gets ceded somewhere so that goals can be achieved elsewhere. And the president is the best I have ever seen at taking an opponent's talking points and actually using them to his strength. He even had other speakers get into the whole "are you better off than you were four years ago?" and show that yes, indeed, we are.

He'll say it was a demonstration of fake empathy, and that the President is motivated only by his voracious ego.

People, the DNC has been GREAT. The speeches were wonderful—pretty much everyone knocked it out of the park. If President Obama loses, it won't be because of a poor showing at the DNC. The Dems did the a spectacular job. You have every right to be happy & proud of them.

Romney: ‘Americans Will Hold President Obama Accountable’

“Tonight President Obama laid out the choice in this election, making the case for more of the same policies that haven't worked for the past four years. He offered more promises, but he hasn’t kept the promises he made four years ago. Americans will hold President Obama accountable for his record – they know they’re not better off and that it’s time to change direction. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will restore America’s promise and deliver a better future for our country.”

Mitt's experience as a businessman was always being the big money guy who flew in for the meeting, bargaining from a position of power in a conference room full of people who were probably smarter than him but needed his money too much to object.

And that got him here. But now he is in way over his head. He is going to wilt in the heat of the debates and campaign against Obama.

I thought he said he wasn't going to watch the speech.

CONCORD, N.H. - Mitt Romney said on Thursday he hasn't been watching the Democratic National Convention and has no plans to tune in for President Obama's speech, though he acknowledged that he's heard some details about what the president will address.

Christ, what a petty, two faced lying piece of shit. Either watch the speech and respond to it or don't and shut the fuck up. Letting advisors summarize it and send out a vague non-response is just so much pathetic chickenshit.

Bill Clinton really highlighted Barack Obama's short comings to me. I know Bill Clinton can't run again, but if the choice were between Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, I would vote for Bill Clinton. Barack Obama is a very good politician and a talented speaker. But Bill Clinton is just way better all around. He is better at delivering a message, and I bet he still has the magic touch as an executive who gets things done. I can't imagine he lost that talent. But there are no Bill Clintons on the ticket. Anyway, Barack Obama has done a good job. He deserves to win and Mitt Romney does not.
