Amid a segment on The O’Reilly Factor about the so-called “war on Christmas,” Fox News co-host Gretchen Carlson suggested Thursday night that the problem was caused because courts were willing to listen to complaints from religious minority groups.
She explained that courts ordered religious displays at public buildings to be removed “because we listen now to the less than 1 percent in society that feels this way.”
Again we see Fox News pushing for a theocracy in America, with a blatant, disgusting misinterpretation of the Establishment Clause. This isn't just Gretchen Carlson's idiotic rambling -- it's a constant theme at Fox.
The right wing has gone completely nuts in the past 10 years. Whatever "principled conservative" might have meant originally, it's an extinct species now.
• A 2004 BBC poll showed the number of people in the U.S. who don't believe in a god to be about 9–10%.
• A 2008 Gallup poll showed that a smaller 6% of the U.S. population believed that no god or universal spirit exists.
• The most recent ARIS report, released March 9, 2009, found in 2008, 34.2 million Americans (15.0%) claim no religion, of which 1.6% explicitly describes itself as atheist (0.7%) or agnostic (0.9%), nearly double the previous 2001 ARIS survey figure of 0.9%.
• The highest occurrence of "nones", according to the 2008 ARIS report, reside in Vermont, with 34% surveyed.
• According to a study conducted by Gallup in May 2010, 16% of Americans declared they have no religious affiliation.
Roughly anywhere from 6 to 16 percent are non-religious which can include atheists. If one were to stick with the lower figure of 1.6% I would like to remind them that Jews make up 1.2%, Episcopalian/Anglicans at 1.1% and Mormons are at 1.4%.
Why do you think that is?
I think women see animals as children and—for them—children aren't allowed to possess sexuality. These women are very eager to castrate everything. They think that men are always brutal and forceful and they want to protect children and animals from them. They think we’re raping the animals, but I believe there are nearly as many women zoophiles as male zoophiles.
Tell me about the animal brothels.
A Danish newspaper wrote in 2005 that Danes were coming to Germany for these animal brothels. Although the head association of animal shelters in Germany said they didn’t know anything about animal brothels, lots of people thought there must be some. A year later, Parliament asked if the search had any results but the police said they didn’t find any. We don’t know of any and, to be honest, if anyone’s going to know, it’s probably us.
Fox News really doesn’t seem to have anything better to do in December than continue to manufacture the silly “War on Christmas” and then take real umbrage to the fake campaign. Despite Jon Stewart’s epic dismantling earlier this week, Bill O’Reilly continues his reverse-crusade, and now he’s implicating women and LGBT people in the process. Last night, he and Bernard McGuirk, executive producer of Imus in the Morning, revealed that they actually believe there’s a war against Christianity that’s being led by champions of the right to choose and LGBT equality:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
An Ohio Senate subcommittee has agreed to hear the case for making drug tests mandatory for welfare recipients, reports the Columbus Dispatch. The bill was introduced over a year ago, but now contains revisions including $100,000 allotted to rehab and treatment programs. Another provision modifies the original requirement by only testing people who admit on the application that they have used illegal drugs. Applicants must pass the drug test before they can receive benefits.
MSNBC just reported that Morsi has delayed the beginning of voting on the constitutional referendum for out of country citizens...perhaps an indication that he is buckling under pressure and will delay the Dec 15 national vote.
Maybe the people who work at Fox News would be happier if we built them a time machine and sent them to John Calvin's Geneva. They'd get Christianity everywhere like they've always wanted. Seriously get the fuck over it. We protect the rights of minorities in this country both religious and non-religious alike and that's the way it should be.
I don't even get what his logic is. Does he think the US should intervene?
He seems to think that if Obama had not spoken highly of Morsi after the ceasefire talks Morsi would not have taken his subsequent actions on the Egyptian constitution. There's also an underlying conspiracy theory that Obama is supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in the background and an idea that cutting off US military aid would stop this.

Considering the amount of money that goes from the US to Egypt, there's some undeniable influence, but what should be done with that influence is a huge question. Withdrawing all the money is probably not in anyone's interest, except in the very very short run.

Yeah, and it's not like US military aid prevented Egypt from toppling Mubarak. It's just a silly excuse. Egypt ended up with Morsi because they elected him. Elections have consequences and all that jazz. Sometimes while looking at this I do think that Morsi could be worse. That's the fear of course from the Egyptian people on the street. It's much like the USA though in that the greatest support of Morsi and the MB is outside of Cairo and Alexandria. It's a "red state."

So all those crazy things he said can just be disregarded As Democrats and the media continue to hammer Virginia lieutenant governor hopeful E.W. Jackson for his past comments on social issues, the Christian minister says he is battling what he calls the “mainstream media’s caricature” of him. In an email sent to The Daily Caller this week, the running mate to Republican gubernatorial ...
More: How California Is Debunking the GOP's Obamacare Talking Points This is some powerful stuff. I wouldn't want to be an Obamacare repealing Republican asshole in a state that isn't embracing the Affordable Care Act in 2014. Once small businesses learn that California (and other states embracing the ACA) are less expensive, they'll flock out of the states that don't. Covered California, the agency ...
Tesla haters just lost another quiver in their dwindling arsenal. The upstart electric automaker has paid off the entirety of its Department of Energy loan -- a whopping $451.8M -- and did it nine years ahead of schedule. "I would like to thank the Department of Energy and the members of Congress and their staffs that worked hard to create the [Advanced Technology ...
6) If husbands want more sex, women should do everything they can to give it to them. Focus on the Family's marriage counselor Juli Slattery is blunt about: Married men need sex, and so wives who aren't providing enough need to step up. While she claims she isn't trying to guilt trip women into having more sex, she argues that sex is a ...
If you need further proof that Congressional Republicans are waging a War on Women, you need look no further than Thursday's congressional committee hearing on H.R. 1797: District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, a bill sponsored by notoriously anti-choice Representative Trent Franks (R-AZ8) that would criminalize abortions after the 20th week. There are currently 98 women serving in the House of ...
The spoiler version is that out in California, where the state government and advocacy groups are actually interested in doing Obamacare right, things are looking pretty good. They're standing up their exchanges and it turns out premiums for basic bronze and more comprehensive silver health plans will actually come in lower than anticipated. This is almost unambiguously good news for Obamacare. You can ...
Last month we shared some photo illustrations by science artist Ron Miller that showed what the night sky would look like if other planets in our solar system replaced the moon. Now Miller is back again with an equally interesting concept: what would landscape photos look like if Earth had a ring like Saturn's? It's nice having a moon, but "for spectacular skies ...
Bioresorbable splint used for first time, successfully stopped life-threatening tracheobronchomalacia, case featured in New England Journal of Medicine Ann Arbor, Mich. - Every day, their baby stopped breathing, his collapsed bronchus blocking the crucial flow of air to his lungs. April and Bryan Gionfriddo watched helplessly, just praying that somehow the dire predictions weren't true. "Quite a few doctors said he had a ...
Spacecraft could determine their position anywhere in the solar system to within five kilometres using signals from x-ray pulsars, say astronomers. Navigating in space is a tricky business. The usual method relies on Earth-based tracking stations to work out a spacecraft's distance using radio waves, a process that is accurate to within a metre or so. That's fine for the radial distance, but ...

"Crisis Pregnancy Centers" (CPCs) or Pregnancy Resource Centers advertise on your campus and in your community. They pose as comprehensive women's health clinics and advertise under "abortion" and "family planning" services, but do not offer abortion services, contraception, or referrals. CPCs often provide false information about abortion, birth control, and the effectiveness of condoms for the prevention of STIs and HIV. Ultimately, their ...
Matthew Lang at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, says the danger arises when the rifle falls into the hands of those who are neither hunters nor military snipers. "If it starts to find its way to individuals that plan to use it for other purposes, there will be a lot of time and money spent figuring out how to secure any public area ...
Nice, right? Anyway, here's my thesis: Raiders of the Lost Ark is not an action-adventure movie about an archaeologist who plays by his own rules and saves the day. Instead, the film is an exploration of Marion Ravenwood's crippling drug addiction. An addiction that was born from her unhealthy relationship and continued association with Indiana Jones. Is it true? Who cares. Can I prove ...
As shocking and appalling as Wednesdays brutal murder was, Woolwich (wool-ich) is a not so surprising location for such an attack. As someone pretty local to Woolwich, I thought I might give a little profile of the area, if anyone is interested. Woolwich is traditionally a military area, with the old Arsenal at its centre and the new barracks one of London's important military ...

It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...
