Wingnuts just love to go ballistic over foot washing. I remember them flogging something about an airport adding a foot washing area to one of the restrooms for Muslim taxi drivers. This was off course taxpayer funded creeping shariah, and they couldn’t accept that it was a public safety issue. The taxi drivers were washing their feet in the sinks and getting the floors wet. It was cheaper to put mop sink and bench in a corner than to have slip and fall lawsuits.

Off topic… already… this isn’t about creeping sharia but maybe belonged downstairs, but here it is - WND is running an article that looks like an attempt to stir up sympathy for Matthew Heimbach:

WHITE STUDENT CLAIMS BLACK-ON-WHITE CRIME PROBLEM

The reference this story on Heimbach:

White Student Union Claims Towson Has Black-On-White Crime Problem

The WND story isn’t heavily commented, but then again it’s not on their top banner. Yet with comments like:

Isaac Pentlin • 4 hours ago
Like I said , The media, Hollywood and Politicians have painted an albatross around white peoples neck. Whites are a target for blacks..

It’s pretty clear what WND is trying to sell.

What is it with Gellar and Halal foods? Does she think consuming halal food would be like consuming peanuts for someone with a peanut allergy? I just don’t get it.

I think she thinks it’s an additive; some sort of compulsion drug that makes people more willing to enslave themselves to islam.

I’m sorry, I used the word “think” in there. I know it’s not the right word for Gellar, but my vocabulary isn’t up to finding a proper alternative.

Apparently, religious faith and religious laws are contagious. Eat halal foods and the next thing you know, you’re dressed in a burqa, speaking Arabic, and reading the Qur’an.

Getting back to how MUSLIM!! as a red button for American politics is evolving… I notice that outside of the highly religious atavists (such as the example legislator from Tennessee used in the Colbert piece) that being a muslim isn’t getting much “heat” anymore, as far as coverage.

Perhaps we are far enough from 9/11, and even the wind down from the Iraq War, that only those who are obsessed with waging religious war (e.g. Geller) are finding new “stories” to run.

I notice that even the mainline “conservative” outlets like NRO don’t run a lot of stories on Islam, unless they are covering Israel.

Sure, in the deep heart of wingnut-ville the idea of “muslim” has taken up space right next to “black” and “teh ghey” as automatic hot-button words from which to revile.

Yet the larger public does not seem much anymore to be in the market for scary-Muslim stories.

Seems to be her rage at the fact that you have to pay a fee to get things labelled Halal ( I assume that also goes for Kosher certification).

I am sure Cadbury saw it purely as a business decision: the cost of the fee will be more than outweighed by the potential increase in sales.

True enough.

The essence of the Kosher Conspiracy, originally a John Birch Society meme, is identical to Pam’s Halal Conspiracy. Just substitute “Kosher” for halal and “Jews” for Muslims. It’s the same thing.

Former U.S. Soldier Charged with Conspiring to Use Destructive Device While Fighting with al Qaeda-Affiliated Group in Syria

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Eric Harroun, 30, of Phoenix, was arrested and charged with conspiring to use a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) while fighting with the al Nusrah Front, an organization commonly referred to as “al Qaeda in Iraq” and designated as a foreign terrorist organization since October 2004.

Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Valerie Parlave, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, made the announcement.

Harroun, a U.S. citizen who served with the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2003, was charged by criminal complaint with conspiring to use a destructive device outside of the United States, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison, if convicted. Harroun made his initial appearance today in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Theresa C. Buchanan.

The al Nusrah Front is one of several aliases used by the al Qaeda in Iraq terrorist organization, and since November 2011, the group has claimed responsibility for nearly 600 terrorist attacks in Syria.

According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Harroun allegedly crossed into Syria in January 2013 and fought with members of the al Nusrah Front against the Bashar al Assad regime in Syria. The affidavit alleges that Harroun was trained to use an RPG by members of the terrorist organization and that he fired an RPG and posted online multiple photographs of himself carrying or posing with RPGs and other military weapons. Harroun allegedly participated in attacks led by the al Nusrah Front and was part of an RPG team, for which he carried anti-personnel and anti-armor rockets.

There is a chocolate company, Nazareth Candy Company, owned by Arab Christians, which has both kosher and halal certification. I found this out years ago, when I attended an engagement party in Mea Shearim (the very, very, very ultraOrthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem). There was an elaborate display of cake and chocolate, including foil wrapped Santas and Easter eggs! Of course they had no clue what the Santas or the Decorated eggs were supposed to represent, but the chocolates were supervised by the Eda Haredit (kosher certification organization).

When I met recently in Washington with the top civil servant in one of Europe’s foreign ministries, this was his greatest fear: What will they do when they come “home,” their fighting skills now honed through months of combat alongside other jihadis from Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and many other countries?

A recent Gatestone Institute paper by Soeren Kern gives some numbers. […]

His remarks were reported by Melissa Merrick, the director of Spirit Lake Victim Assistance, at the website Last Real Indians. Merrick participated in the meeting and described Cramer’s comments as “roughly 20 minutes verbal attacks directed at me and meant for all Native people.”

Cramer allegedly said he didn’t feel safe on Native American reservations because of a provision in the Violence Against Women Act that allows tribal courts to prosecute non-Native American individuals for sexual and domestic violence crimes committed on tribal land.

The congressman also berated tribal leaders for being “dysfunctional” and said he wanted to “ring the Tribal council’s neck and slam them against the wall.” Although Cramer voted in favor of the law, he told the group that the provision was unconstitutional and that non-Native American perpetrators would not receive fair trails.

[…] But Agema told The Associated Press he maintains his belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, and said he will “absolutely not” resign.

So there.

Now, you might say that some of the GOP members in Michigan have asked Agema to step down. But notice this:

Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak said in a statement that the Republican Party “remains in support of traditional marriage but that never should be allowed nor confused with any form of hate or discrimination toward anyone.”

Any statement in the contrast undermines the party’s platform and “common sense conservative message,” he said.

But when asked if Agema should resign, Schostak told reporters that is “between Dave and his family and himself.”

“I have no point of view on that at all,” he said.

In other words, it really is all about the messaging, not in changing the substance.

This Pope is a different kind of man than so many.

(CNN) —
Pope Francis washed the feet of a dozen prisoners, including young women, at a youth detention center in Rome as part of a Holy Thursday Mass ahead of Easter.

The pontiff poured water over the young offenders’ feet, wiped them with a white towel and kissed them.

The act of foot-washing at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper is part of the Christian tradition that mirrors Jesus’ washing of his disciples’ feet.

Francis’ decision to celebrate the Mass with young offenders at the Casal del Marmo center represents a break with tradition but is in step with his record in embracing simplicity and humility.

Great, not only do I have to put up with the religious right here in Idaho, now I will probably have to support their schools with my tax dollars.

Charter school facilities funding bill passes Senate

BOISE — For the first time, Idaho’s 40 charter schools are close to getting about $1.4 million to help offset facilities costs when classes begin next fall.

Under a bill approved in the Senate Thursday, charter schools would get a share of tax dollars based on student enrollment.

Screw them. If people want to send their kids to a private school, fine by me. Just don’t ask me to help pay for it when our Public Schools are in dire need of those funds.

131 Kragar  Thu, Mar 28, 2013 4:20:31pm

So they’ve conceded the battle is lost, so now starts the blame game:

WND link, be warned.

The merits of the traditional marriage argument are strong in both cases, according to Staver, but he was not at all impressed by the oral presentation in defense of Proposition 8 by attorney Charles Cooper.

“Cooper did a terrible job, both in terms of his oratory delivery and was horrible on the substance,” Staver said. “He was asked a question, ‘What is the reason why marriage is different or unique? Why would states want to protect marriage?’ He didn’t come up with an answer. (Justice Antonin) Scalia then threw out the answer about how children do better when they’re raised with a mom and a dad.

“They didn’t know why that has not been presented in the brief. (Justice Elena) Kagan and Scalia had mentioned that to Cooper and Cooper had a home run that he could have knocked out of the park.”

Staver said Cooper failed to make a stronger argument because of an attempt to argue the case on limited grounds.

“Unfortunately, they have positioned this case from the very beginning, which is the reason Liberty Counsel wanted to intervene in this case, as a very marriage-lite kind of situation. They haven’t really wanted to address the issue of homosexuality, and they haven’t really wanted to address the difference that children have when they’re raised in a home with a mom and a dad as opposed to two men or two women. That’s a significant difference and it’s a significant reason, not just for procreation which obviously is essential, but also for creating the best environment for the well-being of children,” Staver said.

“DAMN IT COOPER! ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!”

Tucson ammo seller lied to make Loughner go away

[…]

About 7 a.m. the morning of the attack, Loughner tried to buy more ammunition.

A clerk at Walmart, 7635 N. La Cholla Boulevard, later told deputies that Loughner was acting so erratically that he lied and said the store was out of stock.

Loughner approached the clerk walking really fast. After seeing that there was no 9 mm ammunition in the display case, he urged the clerk to look for more in the back.

Feeling uneasy about how rushed Loughner seemed, the clerk announced that he was out of stock before he even checked.

“I could tell on his face that he was really angry about it,” the clerk told investigators. “He just kind o’ swung away and just walked off.”

Another employee who helped Loughner at the customer service desk said, “He’s one of those types you don’t forget.” She also said he seemed rushed.

Loughner successfully purchased ammunition shortly afterward at another Walmart store, 8280 N. Cortaro Road. He spent $83 on eight boxes of bullets.

Then I stand corrected. My understanding was that they were private schools that had to meet minimum State requirements.

Probably, but I have to admit that every single president in my lifetime had half of the country saying that he was the worst in all of history, even Jimmy Carter.

Ok, maybe Ford was exempt, so obviously the answer is to have a president that we didn’t elect.

You do have a point. However, his policies have massively weakened the United States, and have caused unneeded havoc and misery. And that is not even talking about the raging bigotry.

I put him and Kissinger in the same category. And I want Kissinger packed off to Paris.

Erick son of Erik published a little sermon this morning, the title of which is Christians Side With Mammon. Mammon Sided with Barabbas.

Besides the obvious error - mistaking a late 1st century story that was crafted for religious identification/indoctrination for actual history - the bald-faced hypocrisy is a riot.

Here is a guy, Erick Erikson, who has used his website to endear himself to a mass audience enough to get a contract with a news network, said website which is filled with all sorts of targeted advertising pushed by advertising agencies who have not one whit of concern for “morality”, said website with bloggers who throw out hate as freely as they breath… and here is same said Erick casting stones at Tim Keller (who is nominally associated with the same Christian denomination as Erickson) for mentioning that Christians can accept living in a country whose laws recognize gay marriage.

Stark hypocrisy.

Speaking of Sharia, I guess Pam hasn’t heard about the Pope yet. She’s busy tweeting about the horrors of halal Cadbury Easter eggs.

There are Kosher chocolate easter bunnies, too. Go figure. I’ve always assumed that if the candy maker already had certification, why remove it just because they’re putting the chocolate in a different mold.

Also, if a Jew goes over to a goy friend’s house for an Easter party, he can eat the candy *

* Well, not this year, because it’s during Pesach, and I’m sure chocolate easter bunnies are chometz.

Well, if you hear of a rescue that can’t be returned to the wild, maybe (after you have a place with a yard). Otherwise, wild animals as pets usually turns out not so good.

Tucson ammo seller lied to make Loughner go away

More stories about Loughner just before his shooting spree are in the sidebar.

The timeline, reading today, was really fucked up - the cop who pulled him over on his way to the Gifford event & Loughner started crying (park service cop, yeah, but he still can pull over) that was crazy. Then his dad who disabled his car every night?

Then Lanza’s crazy house of firearms.

The best we can do is look at the people we know and If they are off, and people are allowed to be “off”. But if you are a friend or family member you owe it to the public to do something if you know they have guns.
