GOHMERT! Defund Anything That Obama ‘Cares Deeply About’

The dumbest man in Congress has some advice for the GOP: Defund Anything That Obama ‘Cares Deeply About’.

Well, the Founders gave us the power of the purse. It’s going to take a lot of courage to stand up to the president and say, ‘We’re going to start defunding anything that you care deeply about that’s not important to the American people.’ We’re going to start defunding the Attorney General’s office. We’ve got a bill that would actually, and we’ve been pushing to get this into an appropriations package, it says anybody that’s in contempt of Congress can’t be paid their salary. We need to do that, we need to start eliminating money for any agency, including the White House, that is not following the law. And then you get their attention. That’s what the Founders anticipated.

And I know our speaker says, ‘Oh, gee, but we’re only one half of of one third.’ But we’re the most important half of the appropriations process, so if we don’t agree to an appropriation, it doesn’t happen. It’s time we took a stronger stand in that regard.

In his latest crazy rant, Louie “Terror Babies” Gohmert also warned that Central American families crossing the border are turning the US into a “third world country.”

Because Louie is the full right wing package of bad craziness.

That would be the same “American people” who voted for him to be POTUS twice?

2 RealityBasedSteve  Jul 7, 2014 7:11:12pm

That ties in nicely to the page Skip Intro posted on the Texas GOP

If Gomert didn’t exist, we would have to make him up….

And like that he was gone. Underground. Nobody has ever seen him since. He becomes a myth, a spook story that criminals Liberals tell their kids at night. “Rat on your pop, and Keyser Soze Louie Gohmert will get you.” And no-one ever really believes.

Do Costcos usually have actual book sections?

The ones I’ve been to in Connecticut might just have a table or two, indistinguishable from a pile of remaindered books you might find at a Barnes and Noble. No shelves, nothing resembling a bookstore.

Texas woman stands her ground:

“I told him, I said, ‘What kind of momma you got that raised you up like this? You ought to be ashamed of yourself,’” Lillie McClendon, who celebrated her 83rd birthday two days before on Independence Day, told ABC station KTRK-TV.

McClendon had just come out of the shower and put a load of laundry in Sunday when she noticed a wide-open window and some things out of place, according KTRK in Houston.

“I couldn’t see his face, just his eyes like that. All he was asking about was, ‘Where’s the money at? Where’s the money at?” McClendon said.

I”m really enjoying the Mississippi GOP senate primary fiasco. McDaniel claims they have found thousands of voters who cast ballots in both the democratic primary and the GOP runoff primary, while Cochran’s people say there are only a handful of potential crossover votes. Can McDaniel get enough mud on Cochran to give Democrat Travis Childers a good shot at winning? Stay tuned!

I love how they’re treating Thad Cochran like a flaming pinko commie librul when he’s just as much of a wingnut as the rest of them.

Also, the fact that the GOP and Tea Party are fighting over what should be a safe Senate seat is hilarious. I don’t know Mississippi well enough to know if it will help the Dems, but circular firing squads are always good for a laugh.

I assume McDaniels knows he’s extremely unlikely to win. His purposes may be to get Cochran defeated, and get Mississippi to go to a closed primary so that he can win next time without having to appeal to blah people.

The more bad blood created between the “establishment” and the Tea Party, the more convinced the latter becomes that “the fix is in” and the GOP is “declaring war on them,” the better the odds that the DNC will retain the Senate majority next year.

I know this! Back when I first started reading LGF! It was the summer of 2004, right around there, and I hear Charles on Matt Drudge’s radio show at work and they were talking about doctored Reuters photos from Gaza IIRC.

To me, for a long time the site seemed impenetrable, especially in those early days. I went to the Bud Werner Library almost daily and opened my laptop and clicked Register at LGF and I never could! On top of that was the reading, which was right-wing the way I saw it in those days. I came to LGF in ‘04 and ‘05 to see a “conservative” voice on the internet.

Well, despite a whack on the head from Stinky one time I got to be teleskiguy at LGF years after I started reading the blog. And LGF just ain’t what it used to be in those daze!

I Was a Teenaged Fox News Robot—Sean Hannity Destroyed My Childhood

When I watched MSNBC or CNN, my father would walk by and change the station.

“That’s liberal propaganda,” he’d say as he grabbed the remote and changed the TV to Fox News. “You have to watch this station. This is the only place you’ll get the real news.” Then he’d mutter about the “liberal media.” Not knowing any better, I believed him. My information diet throughout middle school and most of high school would therefore consist solely of Fox News.

It didn’t take long for me to fall into the star-spangled rabbit hole. Within months, I was reciting conservative rhetoric as if the spirit of Ronald Reagan himself was instilled within me. I had a Ronald Reagan poster proudly displayed over my dresser. My father and I discussed how we longed for the Next Reagan to save America from the ways of the wicked — the ways of the left.

I Was a Teenaged Fox News Robot—Sean Hannity Destroyed My Childhood

I listened to Hannity a couple of times. Other than he seemed to be like Rush on Valium, I could not understand his choice of a theme song, Martina McBride’s “Independence Day.” Did he never listen to the entire song? It’s about a woman who shoots her husband and sets their house on fire and then turns the gun on herself, and their kid gets put in an orphanage.

re: #131 Pie-onist Overlord

They hate Costco because it does everything WalMart doesn’t. Provide affordable goods to consumers while paying their workers a solid wage (in some places 2x the minimum wage). The workers take pride in their jobs and they’ve got a solid following; the wage structure within the company means that the CEO doesn’t make 200+ times what the cashier make, which is the situation in WalMart. And Costco provides health insurance to more of its employees than Walmart does to its employees.

You don’t go hearing stories about Costco employees ranting about poor work conditions, unlike Walmart, or how Costco destroys communities

The threat of a ground operation against Hamas in Gaza just jumped exponentially; that will happen when Hamas continues its rocket barrages against Israeli citizens throughout Southern Israel.

Moreover, Hamas has chutzpah to demand that it will honor ceasefire agreed back in 2012 if Israel releases the prisoners it rounded up in the past few weeks as a response to the murder of the 3 Israeli teens.

Agreed that the parents are the reasonable ones in ongoing events, but let’s not ignore that Hamas, which is a terrorist group for both Israeli and US purposes, operates in West Bank and Gaza. Hamas is responsible for the attacks, so rounding up those members of the group is a reasonable step - reduce the number of terrorists who can carry out further attacks.

And in the future, Israel will turn around and release those prisoners in some lop-sided swap for one of their own.

If I thought that would actually reduce the number of attacks, that’d make sense. But they’re not going to round up enough people to stop the attacks. It’s a futile effort and a lot of it is happening without any sort of due process. If you can be arrested for just being Hamas, why don’t they just arrest all of Hamas?

The only group that gains from escalation of the situation is Hamas.

Gah… it’s another summer of endless ranting about how shark attacks are on the rise. Except that they really aren’t.

In 2013, the International Shark Attack File, maintained at the University of Florida, recorded 125 incidents around the globe, including 72 “unprovoked attacks” by sharks on humans. That was down from a record 81 unprovoked attacks the year before. Forty-seven of the 2013 attacks occurred in U.S. waters, down from the 2012 record of 54.

So far this year there have been six shark attacks in the U.S., none fatal — but beach season is just beginning.

What gets lost in the number of attacks is the number of people who are going to beaches - so that you can determine the rate per 100,000, which can help figure out the statistics of being involved in an attack.

The overall statistics? You’re more likely to be killed going to/from the beach in your car than you are by a shark.

NYS has laws for safe havens where you can drop off a baby without criminal charges for child endangerment (hospitals, police and fire stations, etc.) A busy subway station isn’t one of them. At least there were a lot of people who wanted to make sure the baby stayed safe through it all.

Costco stores only carry a couple hundred titles. Mostly best sellers and some older volumes (Disney, Potter, etc.) Same goes for DVD/Blu-Rays. They don’t carry every title. Just certain selected ones.

It’s the ones that they figure will move quick and provide a profit. In other words, they’re items that will not have to be returned and cost on moving under performing inventory.

Police ended up finding the woman who left the baby on the uptown 1 platform at Columbus Circle. She’s being questioned by the NYPD, and reports indicate that it was because the out-of-town woman could no longer take care of the child.

NYS has laws for safe havens where you can drop off a baby without criminal charges for child endangerment (hospitals, police and fire stations, etc.) A busy subway station isn’t one of them. At least there were a lot of people who wanted to make sure the baby stayed safe through it all.

The Safe Haven law only applies to babies 30 days or younger.

Those were the two dialects my SIL spoke. Cantonese was native to her family and village in Malaysia. She learned Mandarin as well since, as you mentioned, that’s the common dialect across regions. She also knew a smattering of Malay, enough to get by with native speakers of that. And English from school as well - taught by native English speakers. That was where she picked up her English “nickname” to be used at times rather than her Chinese given name.

President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here. It’s not going to get better, and in fact irreparable harm can be done in this lame-duck term as he continues to make up his own laws as he goes along, and, mark my words, will next meddle in the U.S. Court System with appointments that will forever change the basic interpretation of our Constitution’s role in protecting our rights.

It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.
