Jim Hoft Posts Pictures of Three Looted Stores in Missouri, Commenters Spew Torrents of Overt Racism

Still more insanely vile right wing hate speech
Wingnuts • Views: 27,749

All over the right wing blogosphere today, comment sections are packed with the ugliest kind of racist hate speech, reacting to the civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri — and the website of the Dumbest Man on the Internet, Jim Hoft, is among the worst.

Today one of Hoft’s followers sent him photos of three looted stores, and Hoft posted them with one of his typical wildly exaggerated headlines: TGP EXCLUSIVE: Photos & VIDEO of Ferguson, MO Mass Destruction | the Gateway Pundit.

MASS DESTRUCTION! Well, not really. Three stores. That’s not good, but it’s a long way from being “mass destruction.”

Here are the words Jim Hoft managed to emit to describe these images, in his usual weird, overheated semi-literate fashion.

DAY OF FURY - NIGHT OF FRENZY - MORNING OF DESTRUCTION

VIOLENT PROTESTS ERUPT IN FERGUSON, MISSOURI

Spread to Neighboring Dellwood - Businesses Torched and Looted

Last night several businesses in Ferguson, Dellwood and North County were looted and torched following the death of 18 year-old Michael Brown.

A QuickTrip was burnt to the ground last night after it was looted in Ferguson.

On Monday Morning Adam Sharp drove up to Ferguson to document the aftermath of last night’s looting and rioting.

The Boost Mobile store that was looted:

The QuickTrip was completely destroyed:

Adam interviewed on angry resident who said, “This isn’t justice OR peace!”

Angry #Ferguson Resident: “This Isn’t Justice OR Peace!” from Sharp Elbows on Vimeo.

This note was left on the QuickTrip store:

The Taco Bell lost several windows…

Adam interviewed the owner of Boost Mobile that was looted last night.

Two of his stores were looted. There was gunfire in the area.

And as he undoubtedly expected and intended, Hoft’s knuckle-dragging commenters responded to his barely readable diatribe with torrents of racism. Again, I’m concealing these ugly comments by default because they’re incredibly disturbing, like so many of the comments being posted at right wing sites today about this incident.

Chimping Out with the Ferguson, MO Pavement Apes!

[…]

You can take them out of the jungle, but you can’t take the jungle out of them.
Any excuse to cause violence, steal, and destroy.

[…]

If you want a TV…Free Food…or a Blender. Wait for a Pavement Ape to mess with the cops and then the looting begins.

[…]

Ah yes indeed The American Street Negro, never letting a ” crisis go to waste” and in this case as always is the case a non-crisis.

[…]

Pavement Apes…

[…]

Porch monkeys

[…]

If Obama has sons he would want them to be just like the animals that rioted here

[…]

The black people seem angry. Which is unusual as they are normally so peaceful and gentle.

[…]

Like Muslim males,

[…]

Don’t forget looting the weave store.

[…]

Let me sum up exactly what happened in this incident: a thug was shot for acting like a thug, which resulted in thousands of other thugs acting like the thugs they are. These savages deserve no sympathy from anyone.

[…]

Has to be the groids.

[…]

Again the zoo forgot to lock up the animals.

[…]

Just like muslims!

[…]

When are the pop-po going to start shooting to kill to stop these urban ANIMALS from the usual MO of looting any darn thing they want without any consequences

[…]

This is a good reason for all citizens and businesses to be armed. They could have rid the world of a few worthless slugs and reduced the welfare rolls at the same time.

[…]

Blacks love these stores.
They gotta gets they’s, noam sayin.

[…]

They act like Muslims do, both races can not act civilized.

[…]

Well praise da lord they didn’t touch KFC.

[…]

There are reasons why sub-Saharan Africa has never contributed anything to elevating the human condition.

[…]

Blacks use any excuse to riot and pilage. They certainly don’t seem capable of living in civilized society.

[…]

was obama involved in this riot?

[…]

Miraculously Church’s was spared

[…]

Uncivilized, uneducated animals raised by the same if raised at all.

[…]

You can take the knee grow out of Africa, but you cant ……………….

[…]

more like a ‘n i g g a moment’. See Boondocks on youtube or Cartoon Network adult swim. There are 3 episodes concerning ‘n i g g a moments’. This was one of them!

[…]

Look at the hatred spewed forth in the destruction of others’ property. Blacks destroy and whites rebuild. Why bother? Let blacks rebuild their neighborhoods for themselves. Why anyone would place a business in their neighborhoods is beyond me. And still they wonder why, as soon as any other ethnic group or race develops a little bit of wealth, whether white, brown, yellow or red, they move away from the black areas of the community to allow them to rot in their self-induced decay. Animals, animals, animals. If I was an office, the only way I’d go in that zoo is if I was loaded for black bear….These idiots walked up and started hitting the police officer? Are you kidding me?… And their elders in the community think this behavior is acceptable?…At some point you have to defend yourself and let God sort the deceased ones out.

[…]

Stupid F#cking monkeys will just use they incum tax sheck to rebuild theys nayborhood, yo….Theys too stoopid to reelize they destroyin’ each others stuff….

[…]

Not a trace of Rosco’s Watermelons remains…….

[…]

So the niggers response to racial inequality is to loot and burn its own community? Makes perfect sense to me, homeboy.

[…]

I thought that the darkies only liked watermelon, and fried chicken

Hoft knows where his reader base is. Meanwhile, he’s eagerly looking up the party registration of the cop that shot Michael Brown so he can excuse any right wing racism in this story’s wake even though as we see here, he has no problem fermenting it.

Back in 2008, a lot of us knew that Obama’s election would bring racists crawling up out of their swamps and suburbs, but did anyone think it would be this bad?

7 FemNaziBitch  Aug 11, 2014 2:02:37pm

Chaos is an opportunity.

I think people definitely use current events to create such opportunitites.
Others just recognize an opportunity.

Like the looting in NOLA after Katrina.

Insidious.

Nope. Not a clue.

I mean, I knew that a significant portion of Real Murica would flip their Klan hoods at a black man becoming POTUS, but the sheer level of crazy unleashed by the right these past six years has been stunning. They didn’t just go off the fucking rails, they nuked the rails from orbit.

The answer is in the children, who are far less racist, far less homophobic than generations before. They still have problems, but it’s much less.

16 HappyWarrior  Aug 11, 2014 2:05:57pm

Obama’s election though I think has brought out that part of the country that never accepted the Civil Rights Movement. I was stupid and naive enough in 2008 to think that Obama since he campaigned positively and with a unifying message could defy that. Instead, it’s gotten worse. Right wing racism is much more open than it was in the past.

A lot of it _IS_ real. That’s why the reactionaries are so scared. Look at the polling numbers on today’s youth - the far right has lost them and they know it. That’s why the next step is the same as it was in Spain back in 1936: Foment civil war so that those who couldn’t get elected can seize power.

You asking for books or what WBL has talked about? The best book I’ve read on the subject is Antony Beevor’s book on the subject and for a personal insight, Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia. Anyhow, as for his actual analogy, a lot of it comes from the fact that like 1930’s Spain we are seeing people who don’t accept a secularizing nation and people who think losing elections is an excuse to throw a tantrum and make threats. Combine that with people who want the church and state mingled and it’s a match made.

It is indeed an accurate analogy. This is very frightening because a million people died in the Spanish civil war and monstrous atrocities were routine.

re: #26 FemNaziBitch

I’ve been arguing, for a couple of years now, that the religious right and the TP are following a course of action similar to that of the Falangists in the lead up to the Spanish Civil War. All that remains is to find their “Franco” and all hell could break loose. Santorum has tried but hasn’t got the military cred or the charisma.

Now given how deeply infested the USAF is by Dominionism, I’d put my money on one of their generals especially after the freak-out over a non-zoomie woman getting a major command recently.

See “The Battle for Spain: The Spanish Civil War 1936-1939” by Antony Beevor for a good history of the subject. The parallels to modern America are quite chilling.

Instead him and his former running mate have been at the forefront of some of the most nasty attacks on Obama. McCain thinks he’s sly because sometimes he’ll try to appear above the fray but then he’ll do the shit he always pulls with Obama’s foreign policy endeavors. And Palin, well I don’t think words even need to explain the fact that she’s been fermenting some of the nastiest xenophobia out there.

I seriously think the younger generation’s inability to understand my generation’s hesitancy on marriage equality is a lot of what drove many of us to accepting it.

I did not support Obama in ‘08. Once he was elected though, I thought (and said), well, he was elected fair and square, let’s give him a chance and see how he does. He came through big time in my opinion and I switched to his side fairly early in his first administration. Many others, including virtually all remaining Republicans, were not willing to give him a chance. They did not care what he could do, or what he did, I will be convinced to my dying day that they care only what color he is.

I mean Dubya’s presidency was messed up but the man himself wasn’t a racist asshole like the clowns that run the party now. I can’t imagine Dubya tolerating the attacks thrown at the migrant children or the nastiness directed at Muslims. Not trying to say I like W or that he did not have flaws but his non-nastiness to people of different cultural backgrounds is a breath of fresh air compared to the Bachmann-King-Gohmert mindset that has taken over the GOP since Obama’s election.

Honestly for me regarding that issue, it just bugged me seeing people use the same defense against banning interracial marriage against same sex couples. Their incessant lies have been repeated so often they are now accepted as fact by the majority of RWNJs, so much so that they are cited as evidence in support of new, fresh conspiracy theories. War Machine threw the friend out of the house and then she says he allegedly made her strip and shower in front of him. Then she says the beating began … resulting in 18 broken bones around her eyes, a broken nose, missing teeth, a fractured rib and ruptured liver.

Mack says War Machine also “sawed much of my hair off with [a] dull knife.”

She says he threatened to rape her but was unable to perform.

I remember the RWNJ bracing themselves for riots if Obama lost on election night, especially in 2008. One string at Free Republic was full of hand wringing and near panic over the imminent uprising, as well as bloodthirsty promises of resistance. As the election result became obvious, some wag posted “Good news, people! He won!”

re: #62 HappyWarrior

What amuses me is when they try to claim they’re not racist by saying they’d support Ben Carson if he ran for president. Yet they want to claim Dems are the real racists even though they’ve had Obama. Besides right wing racial minorities like Carson, Bobby Jindal, and Ted Cruz have their own bigotries. I still remember Herman Cain saying he would not want to be treated by a non-Christian doctor. And of course we’ve seen what Cruz thinks of immigrants and Jindal’s attitudes on gays.

You gotta understand—Dems are the real racists because real racism is anti-white. I’ve been driving past this a couple times a day for a week:

That about sums it up. For every single solitary moron that calls that little tantrum a riot and calls the people who didn’t loot the same as those who did I just have one question to ask; Just imagine what it would be like to have your son shot dead. Dead in the street. Unarmed. I guess if you had a gun and wanted to take the law into your own hands because of (fill in blank) that’s patriotic? Rights and all? Your kid is DEAD. Like your rotten brain. DEAD. They have no souls.

Their incessant lies have been repeated so often they are now accepted as fact by the majority of RWNJs, so much so that they are cited as evidence in support of new, fresh conspiracy theories. These lies include such things as Obama trampling the Constitution with executive orders and the NSA actively recording every telephone conversation in the country.

The echo chamber has taken over.

If they fail to gain the Senate later this year - and I think they will - then logically, it should be obvious that the echo chamber is full of crap. But I doubt the wingnuts will arrive at the logical conclusion.

re: #50 HappyWarrior

This is a great post and being a little older than your son, I really appreciate this. Honestly for me regarding that issue, it just bugged me seeing people use the same defense against banning interracial marriage against same sex couples. I am not going to try to paint myself pure as snow. I used the word faggot on many occasions. I as a young teenager found gay eww. But you know what, I saw especially after meeting a distant gay relative and then getting to know some gay people over the years that they were fellow human beings. A lesson totally lost on the people who want to call gay people pedophiles or blame them for Nazism.

I never found gay ‘eew’. What I mostly found it was irrelevant. That is, it didn’t affect me in any way. In college, a friend propositioned me. It didn’t freak me out, or make me want to slug him, or anything. I just had no interest, and told him so. So, I’ve never understood ‘Gay Panic’.

The cops are almost certainly aware of this possibility and would turn such a group away. One could get through anyway, possibly using back routes, or just one racist cop could turn a blind eye, and catastrophe would ensue. It is possible, too, that such a group could be overwhelmed and killed by local residents in self defense. Alcohol, arrogance, and tactical illiteracy are not a good combination in unfamiliar areas. This would lead to a martyr mythology of immense dimensions, the American right’s own Horst Wessel.

There’s that, and there’s the progressive move by the Tea Party into more and more overt racism. A few freepers still refuse to toe the party line and are instead continuing to focus on police misconduct in Ferguson:

Given that the Ferguson cops aggressively confiscated cell phones from everyone present in order to cover up what they did I’d say the cops brought this on themselves. Their actions *after* the shooting are what’s really causing this riot. If they hadn’t gone into thug-mode to suppress video then this may not have been so bad.

But instead they decided to try to cover things up and that alone is an admission of guilt. If you’re doing the right thing then it doesn’t matter if someone posts the video to LiveLeak (because YouTube will censor it).

http://photographyisnotacrime.com/

and this one on the same string:

Speaking of evidence the police aggressively confiscated cell phones from witnesses in order to cover up what they’d done. Seems to me if the police wanted to make the case for their righteousness in this shooting they’d just play some of the video they confiscated, right?

re: #138 William Barnett-Lewis

Writing like this makes me miss old William F. all the more. He was at least erudite enough to wrap his classist (especially) & racist (only occasionally) rants in sufficiently flowery language to at least allow the gentle reader the illusion that he was a principled defender of the conservative cause.

In WFB’s inaugural piece in the first issue of National Review, the 10-dollar word “sublunary” was used in a piece defending the idea of racist white juries engaging in nullification to oppose enforcement of the Voting Rights Act because white supremacy was objectively justified.

The style and the substance were both typical.

Ouch, right in the childhood. :(

Crikey. I fell asleep at the keyboard and wake up to this. Unlike many of the other famous-person deaths in recent years, I actually liked Williams.

Oh, he was racist. He just usually preferred to hide it behind class in his writing.

Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Death of Actor Robin Williams | NBC Bay Area

RIP, Mr Williams. He had discussed a history of depression I think. I hope it was natural causes or an accident.

153 GeneJockey  Aug 11, 2014 4:04:39pm

Statement from William’s Publicist:

“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

154 ausador  Aug 11, 2014 4:05:35pm

It is particularly sad that many of the comments over at CNN are practically indistinguishable from the ones made TGP. One major difference is that at CNN your talking about something like 11,000 comments versus the 360 or so at TGP. :(

Holy shit…Robin Williams died.

157 thedopefishlives  Aug 11, 2014 4:06:42pm

Goddamnit. As if I wasn’t already worn down from the weekend’s derpocalypse, now this, something that actually hurts.

158 Kid A  Aug 11, 2014 4:08:25pm

Depression. I’m glad that we as a society are taking mental issues much more seriously than in the past. A very good friend of mine has been depressed for 20+ years, put a pistol in his mouth a couple of times too, but never could pull the trigger. What used to be seen as a sign of weakness is now looked at like any other illness.

re: #132 BeachDem

Anyone who writes “yoga-panted women with vastly complex Starbucks orders” should be writing in a 7th grade diary or on a bathroom wall, not a national publication (even if it is National Review.)

It was all one run-on sentence so he was trying to be clever.

Prayers for his friends & family. Suicide of a loved one is very painful.

Completely OT, but I really enjoy the documentary ESPN made about the Auburn vs Alabama rivalry. We lived in AL twice and it’s very well done.

I’m way too familiar with getting that close. It isn’t a good time when you feel death is preferable to the pain.

re: #8 FemNaziBitch

I feared it would be worse. I didn’t think he’d live to be reelected.

Seriously.

Why? History says most presidents, even ones that are hugely controversial, live through their first term in office and live to take office again if they win. Plus, security has generally become tighter, and security in his particular case is probably extra tight.

And then there’s the medical side of things. McKinley and Garfield probably would have survived given modern medicine, and Reagan probably would have died without it.

There was never any prospect of the kind of insider-job assassination that felled Indira Gandhi.

And my own sense of the pulse of the nation is that feelings ran higher back in the days of the Vietnam war and LBJ and Nixon. This opinion is consistent with the fact that in those years we had a spate of assassinations—-JFK, RFK, MLK, and attempts (Wallace)…and I’m sure I’ve left some out.

re: #55 Shiplord Kirel

I think this is right. The RWNJs have deluded themselves that they are riding a groundswell of anti-Obama sentiment. They are going to react very badly when the election doesn’t go their way. Constant harping about (mostly non-existent) voter fraud from the rightwing media has laid the groundwork for a massive rejection of the results.

Indeed. Some people don’t seem to be able to think straight about the prospects of “their team”. It doesn’t occur to them that Nate Silver’s remarkable success in calling the 2012 elections on the basis of preliminary polling was a resounding proof of the integrity of the vote. You can’t predict what will be done in back rooms on the basis of polling data. When the polls diverge wildly from the count, the count can be honest anyhow, but it might well be fake. When the polls agree nicely with the count, there’s not much chance of anything substantial being wrong with the count.

170 De Kolta Chair  Aug 11, 2014 5:23:32pm

From The Hollywood Reporter: “[Robin Williams] performed in the mid-1980s in a series of mediocre movies including The Survivors (1983), The Best of Times (1986) and Club Paradise (1986).”

WTF? The Best of Times was fun, with nice performances, especially from Pamela Reed. But I admit they’re right about the other two.

Not enough NOPE in the world for that particular brand of stupid. I have to wonder if steroids were involved; that just seems like such a meatheaded thing to do.

Or meth. Or both.

re: #100 HappyWarrior

Oh yes, he’s a “War Machine” when he likes to project himself as a tough guy but now that he’s in trouble for beating up his ex-girlfriend savagely, he’s claiming that he’s a helpless little who couldn’t have dealt with the manner without resorting to that. What a load of shit this guy is.

Well if he puts up a resistance to the right cop(s) that come to pick him up, he could learn some painful restraint holds from them to use next time rather than blunt force to subdue a person giving him “a fight for his life”.
