RH Reality Check Finds Possible Criminal Behavior by the Anti-Choice Fanatics Behind the Planned Parenthood Videos

Possible forgery, credit card fraud and identity theft

Sharona Coutts and Sofia Resnick of RH Reality Check have been investigating the far right fanatics behind the deceptive Planned Parenthood “sting” videos, and they’ve discovered some very interesting information. The operatives at the Orwellian “Center for Medical Progress” and their fake company “Biomax” may have violated a whole bunch of laws in the course of making these videos; specifically, David Daleiden and his cronies may have violated California and federal law on forgery, credit card fraud and identity theft: Exclusive: The Faces and Fake Names of People Behind Planned Parenthood Attack Videos.

News reports that BioMax operatives presented what appeared to be California driver’s licenses when they visited a Texas Planned Parenthood affiliate lend further weight to the claims of event organizers that Daleiden and his group did indeed present forged ID cards.

To be sure, it’s possible that Robert Daoud Sarkis, Brianna Allen, and Susan Tennenbaum are real people who are in fact associated with BioMax, despite BioMax now being known to have been a front company.

However, RH Reality Check has been unable to locate any such individuals, and neither the Center for Medical Progress nor BioMax itself produced any individuals by those names with ties to BioMax.

RH Reality Check called all phone numbers listed on the business cards. The office number for BioMax goes directly to voicemail. The cell number listed for Susan Tennenbaum is disconnected. A voicemail left on Sarkis’ cell phone was not returned by deadline. We also left messages for other people named Susan Tennenbaum throughout the United States, and all Brianna Allens in California, listed in databases of public records. Emails to the addresses provided on the business cards did not receive a reply. We were unable to locate a single listing for “Robert Daoud Sarkis” in databases of public records.

This new evidence obviously raises the question of whether any of this conduct is illegal.

There’s a real stench of criminality behind this gang, and I hope the Justice Department and other law enforcement agencies will investigate them to the hilt. Their connections with Operation Rescue, a terrorist group tied to numerous violent acts against doctors and women’s health clinics, are bad enough in themselves to warrant it in my humble opinion.

Whats frustrating is how easily these guys find supporters. You know how hard it is to raise funds for an honest look at a topic?

The persecution types can just FOAD. They will piss and moan about any progress, no matter how trivial or important, so their contribution to public policy debate is merely mindless obstruction for its own sake.

Perhaps Trump as GOP candidate will be enough to get the GOP moderates and the media both-siderists to finally stop their enablement of the lunatic fringe of the US right.

Fox News’ Shannon Bream falsely suggested that Planned Parenthood profits from the sale of fetal tissue, based on a misrepresented figure sourced from the website of a separate, for-profit middleman that occasionally interacts with some Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Following the release of the latest undercover video by the anti-abortion Center for Medical Process — which again falsely accuses Planned Parenthood of illegally profiting from the sale of fetal tissue for medical research — Bream reported on the July 28 edition of America’s Newsroom that while Planned Parenthood “says it has never made a profit” on the legal tissue donations, “there are things that raise questions.”

As evidence, she pointed to the website of a company called StemExpress, which “does business with Planned Parenthood affiliates,” where “you will see pricing for a fetal liver, in some cases, at over $24,000 for a single item”:

snip

But The New York Times explained that while for-profit companies like StemExpress often act as middlemen between the non-profit Planned Parenthood and medical researchers, Planned Parenthood itself only receives “small fees” to cover expenses:

When your argument which you believe with every inch of your being doesn’t stand up to scrutiny - in fact is discredited - you eventually behave like a scoundrel. “Pro-life anti-abortion” activists are criminals and scoundrels.

Eric The Fruit Bat  Jul 28, 2015 • 6:08:02pm

Not surprising - while they claim to be Christians they reveal themselves to be nothing more than slaves of the Prince of Lies by using the same tactics.

So when Judgement Day arrives, Christ will judge them and say: “I do not know Thee”.

Separation from everything they knew from the temporal world will be Hell indeed. No light. No warmth. An infinite void.

Liar. First, the price is $2400, not $24,000, but more importantly, as I posted previously, that is for isolated cells with a particular set of markers. Isolating those cells involves instruments that cost upwards of $250,000, run by highly trained experts whose expertise routinely brings >$150,000 annual salary. Dispersing solid tissue, FACS sorting, culturing of sorted cells, cryopreservation - these are highly specialized tasks that take expensive instrumentation and highly skilled staff.

I don’t hunt either. I eat meat, but I prefer not to kill it myself-in part because I would be afraid to screw it up and cause pain. (Yes, I realize that not all the meat I eat is likely to be killed humanely, but I do try to be responsible about buying ethically raised and slaughtered animals.)
Shooting an animal and having it survive for 2 more days? No. Just no.

I did not know there was a movie with that title. I’ll have to check that out. IMDb makes it sound like there was a little twist in the movie plot differing from the original story. Overall though, the same theme as the short story.

I haven’t read Richard Connell’s story in ages, but I’ve seen the 1932 movie many times. I’m a big fan of Joel McCrea, a very underrated actor.

I just finished reading Tom Hiney’s excellent 1997 biography of Raymond Chandler. I didn’t know Chandler was such a big shot pulp writer, though he only started making the real do-re-mi when he started writing screenplays.

re: #144 The Ghost of a Flea

That was at a 3D shoot. That particular target was a timed shoot - you had 30 seconds to shoot as many arrows as you could at the targets, but only the hits score. Rush, and you score low. Take too much time on each, and you score low. Get in a rhythm, and you do well.

BTW, related to my discussion of hunting with arrows, a good 3D shoot will teach you what you can and can’t do with a bow. A lot of the guys who set them up are sneaky bastards and put the stake - which you must be touching - in a place that requires you to bend, stoop, twist, etc just to shoot. And the target distances are NOT marked. It’s all hand/eye and experience. Tons of fun!

Just checked, the minimum legal draw weight to hunt lion with a bow in South Africa is 95 pounds. Most hunting bow makers do not produce anything with a draw weight over 70 pounds. 95 pounds is an insanely difficult draw for most people. There’s a reason that professional hunters in Africa use rifles exclusively, you simply can’t duplicate the accuracy, power, bone crushing and disabling ability in any kind of bow, even a crossbow.

What that asshole did was amazingly unethical. Most African countries won’t let you hunt Big 5 game with anything less than .375 caliber. Here’s a list of the minimum caliber requirements for game in various African countries.

You can talk about the cutting power of modern broadheads all you want, but at the end of the day you’re dumping around two orders of magnitude less energy into the target from a much less accurate platform that has drastically reduced range and takes much more skill to even contemplate using.

I have family that can hunt North American game ethically with a bow. I still think it’s an absolutely insane thing to attempt in Africa against the Big 5.

One thing I’ve come to believe is that we should not collectively call the right wing “the right.” The term has positive connotations, and the less politically knowledgeable could subconsciously agree with some political positions of “the right” because everyone refers to right wingers as “the right.” I much prefer to refer to these right wingers as the “right wing.”

When people here talk about stickbows, or compound bows that use pulleys to reduce the pull, they’re talking about long, straight, hold-at-arms-length-and-pull-back-to-the-ear European bows.

In India, IIRC, they mainly used short, recurved, composite bows, where you hold the nock to your chest and then basically punch with the bow. You can get a much higher instantaneous pull than trying to hold the arrow back to your ear while you aim.

Of course, punching in the right direction and releasing at just exactly the right instant is also tough….

Way, way back-in college I did a little archery. One of the guys had a 50 or 60# bow. I could shoot with it once and then my muscles got shaky from the strain. I cannot imagine doing anything constructive with a 95# bow.

With a compound bow, the force/draw curve actually drops after an initial spike. So, with a 95# bow, you’re holding a whole lot less. Maybe 30# or so.

By contrast, the force/draw curve for a longbow or stickbow increases with increasing draw length, so you are holding the full draw weight at anchor.

95# is insane for most people, even in a compound, but there are a number of folks who have trained themselves to shoot bows in excess of 100# on a regular basis. And I’m talking longbows, not compounds, so they’re not holding 30#. The warbows recovered from the Mary Rose, when replicated with recently-cut Yew, drew in the 100-160# range.

WRT whether it’s ethical to use a bow on African big game, esp. the Big 5 - first, it’s no longer legal to hunt some of them AT ALL,and ethical hunting must first be LEGAL.

Second, again, arrows work VERY differently from bullets. You can’t really compare fps, kinetic energy, or inertia between them sensibly. You want a bullet to expend all its energy in the animal - ideally coming to a stop just under the skin on the far side. An arrow, you want to pass completely through. And they do. It is quite possible for a skilled archer to bring down, with a bow, “ethically”, anything that walks on land. BUT for the Big 5, you’re talking extreme skill and extreme bows and arrows, not something off the shelf at Cabelas.

WRT why big game hunters use big guns? It’s easier, and you’re less likely to die. That’s also why they use double rifles instead of bolt-action rifles.

Well, you’re right, I should have distinguished—the short composite bow came in with the Central Asian nomads like the Mughals. The Aryans had the traditional longbows, and that’s what would be depicted in the Hindu scriptures.

The longbow was great for hunting, but the rate of fire that could be attained with short composite bows made mounted archers the terror of Asia.
