The city of Belen could get sued over a nativity display in one of its public parks.

The display has become quite controversial in the past month, even though it’s been there since 1992.

Annie Laurie Gaylor, the cofounder of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, said taking legal action may be the only option when it comes to getting the nativity display removed from city property, since the mayor refused to move it after her foundation sent him a letter in July, asking him to do so.

[…]

“I mean frankly, I laughed when I heard the mayor excusing this because Belen is Spanish for Bethlehem. This is just not an excuse for religion to be in our government,” Gaylor said.

Before the foundation can file the lawsuit, it needs plaintiffs who live in Belen, and local counsel.

In the meantime, citizens are raising money for the city of Belen on gofundme.com preparing for a lawsuit.

It also is no excuse that the capitol of the state, when translated, means ‘Holy Faith’.

Well, Tebow has been cut by the Eagles, and 7 out of 10 comments in RWNJ land is that it’s “because he’s a devout Christian”.

I suspect the typical NFL Head Coach / General Manager couldn’t care less if you were a lapsed Unitarian or an active Christian. They care about “Will you make the team better, and does that keep my job secure another year”.

As for me, I suspect that our Tennessee Titans will be having yet another rebuilding year. (Think this is the 7th straight one).

BREAKING AT GOATNEWS!

BREAKING: Did #BlackLivesMatter Members Kill Abilene, TX Cop?

GotNews can independently confirm that an Abilene, TX police officer was the target of a hate crime by an anti-cop group.

“Abilene police officer that was found dead was found at his home, bound, burned, shot multiple times, with racial words and phrases carved into his body,” says a source close to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Another FBI official confirmed the attack and said that it may well have been in response to the perceived mistreatment of Sandra Bland, a mentally ill woman who killed herself in police custody. Conspiracy theorists believe that Bland was killed by police.

No word yet on what anti-white or anti-cop slurs were used.

Former NYPD cop-turned radio host John Cardillo, using sources independent of GotNews, confirmed the anti-cop violence.

It’s CONFIRMED! Anti-cop violence probably by members of Black Lives Matter! CONFIRMED, I say! Sources!

Oh. But, uh…

Update: heavy.com reports that both killers are white.

OOPSIE.

GoatNews can now CONFIRM that Black Lives Matter had nothing to do with this murder! CONFIRMED! BREAKING!

The comments are excellent.

What an irresponsible article! To quote, “GotNews can independently confirm”—-NOTHING! “GotNews can independently confirm”—-that they are ridiculous! “GotNews can independently confirm”—-that that care not one iota for the truth! This is merely another way to stir up trouble and hatred, Pointing the finger like this is the way to ensure that another finger just may end up on the trigger.

[…]

GotNews just proved themselves to be nothing but a JOKE! ! ! ! ! !

[…]

GotNews has ALWAYS been a joke. They are nothing more than a click-bait garbage website. Anybody that comes here for news is an idiot. Only reason I’m here is I clicked a link on my FB news feed without looking to see what website I was headed to. My mistake…

[…]

GotNews, you are liars! Get the story right!

Yes, it’s another heinous massive fail for the Ginger Avenger.

They killed, then robbed Officer Allen
THE LATEST: 2 arrested for murder of Abilene police officer

“We were able to link the suspects to property taken from Don Allen’s residence,” Standridge said. “Additionally, physical evidence recovered at the scene has linked the suspects to the crime. While I cannot discuss the specifics, we are confident that we have taken the correct people into custody. We do not believe there are any other suspects.”

It’s entirely possible Allen walked in on them robbing his place

Its patsy Saturday when the football factories, at their home stadiums, play teams from the minor conferences to get their seasons off with big wins. The loser schools get a lot of money and their players get the holy crap beat out of them.

Its a college football tradition. Builds character, I guess.

I’m reminded of this Bible verse:

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 (English Standard Version (ESV))

2 For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.:

Looks like The Donald and wannabe mini-me Ted Cruz are going to an anti-Iran treaty sponsored by three out-there groups on September 9:

That’s the day Trump, along with Ted Cruz, is scheduled to speak at anti Iran deal rally in Washington, D.C., co-sponsored by three groups that have a long stoked hate versus Muslims: The Center for Security Policy, Tea Party Patriots, and the Zionist Organization of America. The worst of the three, by far, is Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy.

I had a baby grasshopper sighting today. I came out of Starbucks this afternoon, and he was on my windshield, about 1 inch long and bright bright green. For the 2 blocks to Walmart at 20 MPH he was just hunked down on the middle of the windshield, facing into the wind.

Pulled into the parking lot, and figured that he would be gone by the time I came back from shopping. I was surprised to see him camped out on the roof of the car. I’m guessing that he got blown off someplace along the way home.

Modern variation on an old, old joke, cf. Malvolio getting pranked in Twelfth Night:
