Creation Museum Crackpot Ken Ham Says Gay Marriage Will Lead to People Running Around Naked

These people are weird

Creationist Ken Ham has a new take on gay marriage; he’s worried that if everyone abandons the idea that the Bible is literal historical fact, and accepts same sex marriage, people will just stop wearing clothes.

Because why not? What’s to stop us? Here comes the nude apocalypse, people.

Weren’t Adam and Eve naked in their innocent state?

So when God created Adam and Eve, he also created Fruit of The Loom (with a half eaten apple?)

we wear clothes out of shame for our sinfulness, and when we lose that, well, we all know that god is gonna open up a dominion-size can of smite all over our bare asses

People wear clothes because being naked in public is just uncomfortable, cold, and nasty.

20
Brother Holy Cruise Missile of Mild Acceptance  Oct 27, 2015 • 3:12:59pm

IIRC Adam and Eve were naked until they ate the apple then somehow felt shame for being naked and discovered clothes. So if Ham is right, people will stop being ashamed, start running around naked, and in the end be like god intended before they ate the apple?

The problem with naked on a subway or an airplane is not being the first person ever to sit on that particular seat.

Before having children, Mrs. FBW had the oddest skin. Very pale, but it seemed that it neither burned nor tanned. She’d lie in the noonday summer sun for long enough to start turning me pink, but never got a visible tan line. Weird.

No longer that way, once she had kids. had to start using sunscreen. Indeed one time she got distracted when doing her back. She ended up with a sunburn all over, except for a white hand print.

I told this story to the Older Boy, and he said, “Mom worked for Saruman?”

Lying in the sun is of the devil. There are few things I hate more. Back in my teenage years I used to try and build up a bit of a base tan (back before there were good sunscreens.) It never worked and I hated doing it, so I wore long sleeves at the beach. Yay.

Burning my feet was the most entertaining one. I didn’t feel it until hours later, as we were driving home from Georgia to Indiana. I had put my socks and shoes back on afterward, and fell asleep in the car. When I woke up, my feet felt like they were on fire. I removed one of my socks and revealed cherry-red skin.

Will the climate in which the ssm acceptor resides affect the abandonment of clothing? In other words, will there be mass freezing-to-deaths in Chicago each winter, or will the desire to stay warm overpower the desire to rip off one’s clothes if one accepts ssm?

It really annoys me when politician wingers ask that question. Really? They’ve paid zero attention to their own campaigns and had no idea whom they and their fellow GOPers were pandering to the last 10 years in every ad, every conference, every piece of proposed legislation, every policy, every message blasted out on Fox? Really? They thought sane, decent people would remain loyal with those messages? What did they think would happen to their party, actions would not have consequences?

Jesus Christ!

When working with LN2, one problem is inhaling it. No oxygen. You just lose consciousness. Then you die. That’s why those tanks have platforms to keep your head out of the N2 gas. Our LN2 cell cryopreservation room has an ungodly loud Oxygen alarm, in case you’re in there getting cells out and the O2 level drops too much.

Cripes, doing it to yourself intentionally? That sounds like snake oil.

Magnet quench and the accompanying N2 release was the biggest hazard associated with the magnets in the lab. Protocol was to GET THE FUCK OUT as fast as possible for exactly that reason.

So finally a word from Prof. Wiseman himself on the situation with his alleged genocide denial:

statehornet.com

Here is the exact quotation that initiated this situation:

“Native peoples created small-scale hunting and gathering societies, large-scale fishing societies, grand agricultural civilizations. Native peoples tended to speak numerous kinds of languages and created in that a diversity of cultures. Not only were [sic] there a diversity of cultures, but there were a large number of people on this continent when Europeans arrived. I don’t like to use the term ‘genocide’ because ‘genocide’ is something that is done on purpose, but needless to say European diseases primarily, European diseases primarily, will wipe out Native American populations in the two continents and hence one of the reasons why later in history many Europeans will imagine that these continents were empty. But we know that as many as twenty-five million people might have lived in what we call Central America today. Another seven to ten million people lived in what we call North America today.”

My understanding of genocide has been gleaned through years of experience, study, and analysis. I was raised in a Jewish household in the shadow of the Holocaust and understand firsthand the social and cultural weight of that term. My studies included the oftentimes emotional investigation and analysis of atrocities committed against Jews and people of other religious, racial, and cultural identities, including Native Americans.

It would seem that the aim was to explain the main reason for Native Americans dying out, which was not genocide but diseases. The initial out-of-context quotation doesn’t make that clear.

I would add, however, that something is missing from Wiseman’s article, and that is the acknowledgment that acts of genocide were indeed perpetrated on Native Americans, even if they were not the main reason for most deaths.

Some of you may recall, a friend of mine was killed in a motorcycle accident this summer. She left behind two young children. O/T
Survived first day subbing. Today was a inner city intermediate school in High Point, mostly African American low income kids. Great group for the most part and I was able to work through the rough spots. The one real challenge was a 6th grader who looked and acted like a miniature Joe Pesci , foul mouth and all. (I found out he had just come back from suspension for cussing out another teacher.) He tried to push buttons and I wouldn’t let him.

That brings me to another point on that fucking horrifying video of a school resource officer throwing that girl part way across a room, breaking her arm and cuffing her and the one girl who tried to defend her…all for the first girl not participating in class and chewing gum before being told to leave.

If adults cannot handle minor rebellion in the classroom without breaking a girls arm and brutalizing her…I have no goddamned idea why they are anywhere near our schools. I had a lot worse than that today, and I never felt the need to hit a kid or call the SRO.

I’ve noticed that medical MRI facilities always have much better venting infrastructure, piping quench gasses out the roof. Regulations for NMR lab facilities are probably a lot more lax since no live patient is going to get shoved into the core.

It will be interesting to see how the results from this article CL highlighted play out: not mentioned in the snippet is that the family in question owns the Tadich Grill in SF.

mr. klys and I had been, not knowing the history, and enjoyed it - but we won’t be going again, sadly, unless substantial information turns up showing that the initial story is wrong. There are too many tasty places in SF to eat that don’t require us to put money in the pocket of bigots, whether the bigotry is due to racism or religion.

As an aside, the article has been blowing up in the predictable way and their response has been non-existent. The reporter did attempt multiple times to get comments for the article, so they had warning that something was coming.

People suck.

I’ve noticed that medical MRI facilities always have much better venting infrastructure, piping quench gasses out the roof. Regulations for NMR lab facilities are probably a lot more lax since no live patient is going to get shoved into the core.

Hahahahaha, piping? PIPING?

We did have an article taped to the door about a sheriff’s deputy who forgot to remove his service weapon when near an MRI machine though.

Here’s why I’ll never vote GOP.

I moved to Minnesota in September of 2008. Minnesota is one of the states where you can do same-day registration to vote. I had rented an apartment in an area of St. Paul with a rather high minority population (and I’m white.) I had all the documentation required by the state to vote in the 2008 Presidential Election. I was turned away by some ‘election official’ for not having all the proper documentation. As I was leaving I was met by someone who took down all of the info I brought with me as well as my cell number, and then I proceeded to drive to work.

No sooner had I got to work I received a call on my phone-it was from the Obama Campaign (1-800-CHANGE), saying that the ‘election official’ at the pooling was place was wrong and I should have been allowed to vote-which I did on my lunch hour - Ironically, when I did show up to vote the person who stopped me apologized for doing so.

So THAT is why I will NEVER vote GOP.

Here’s the Wisconsin legislature, laser focused on jobs.

Assembly set to approve bills on concealed knives, treasurer

The Assembly is poised to pass a bill Tuesday greatly expanding the ability to carry concealed knives without a permit, allowing switchblades, bowie knives and even swords to slip into hidden sheaths, pockets and purses.

Also Tuesday, Republicans will consider whether to give voters a chance to eliminate the office of state treasurer, coming closer to a goal they have sought for years.

The action on the knife proposal comes four years after Republicans passed legislation to allow Wisconsinites to carry concealed guns, knives and other weapons with a permit. But the measure up Tuesday would eliminate the need for a permit for any kind of concealed knife and would prohibit local governments from enacting their own ordinances.

Facebook’s advantage here is that they make a concerted effort to get everyone’s real name. A lot of trolling gets quashed simply through the potential for consequence that this creates. I quit Facebook because I couldn’t stand how inane everything there became. I also don’t like the policy of forcing real names to be displayed, but getting them in the first place is smart.

Twitter instead created a deeply classist system, one for little people (anonymous or otherwise) and the verified user system only open to the well connected and famous. This I think generated a lot of resentment, which only added to the toxicity.

Dammit, b.d. beat me to this joke. I should have gone with “This just in: Lindsey Graham loves giving head”

Sitting here at my Computer reading a thread about being naked (and the majority of people who embrace nudism shouldn’t) while wearing Khakis and a polo shirt. This thread is definately calling out for some Joan Osburne however.

Joan Osborne - let’s just get naked

I just pointed it out but you had a joke. Dana should have asked : Senator have you ever poured a beer before? When?

“People were united” because 3000 died - not because of anything GWB did or did not do. Guess that means the more disasters George had during his Presidency - the more he united the country. Next it will be the wonderful work done in the aftermath of Katrina.

I left the container of French Onion Dip out last night and all day today. (appx 24 hours or so). As much as I would LIKE some FOD with my chips, discretion says that wouldn’t be prudent.

I’ll eat 12 hour old pizza with no hesitation, but not anything with dairy in it that’s sat out. (and I don’t believe that pizza actually goes bad, it just gets hard and curled up)

And yes, I know the cheese in pizza is dairy, but it’s different. hush.

A friend of mine used to have nude backyard parties at his house in a north Minneapolis suburb and I was always invited but always chickened out. I finally got up the nerve to go and I walked in through the back gate to see dozens of people that I knew and realized immediately that I didn’t want to be there. A greeter at the back gate told me where to go undress and let me know that I should put my wallet in my car. I was never so glad to have a reason to leave. I went back to my car, hopped in and headed south.

There’s only so much that I need to know about my friends.

OK, that didn’t work.

Here’s the link to the page that has the video. It’s three DC students talking about how police security at their high schools makes them feel.

Thanks—and don’t forget, we have a “date” when you come east for the holidays!

Have not forgotten. Can’t wait.

You know, there’s not much we can say about the future with certainty, but I think its pretty safe to say that two or three hundred years from now, people will still wear clothes.
Even if people do stop wearing clothes someday for some reason, I can guarantee you that it won’t have anything to do with gay marriage.

Only if they’re processed or grilled over an open flame.

What if the person you ate ate a lot of processed meat?

It’ll have something to do with being an empath.

Who’s ever hosting the debate had better wand the candidates before they get on stage. A cavity search might be a good idea as well.

Don’t forget the one between the ears. That’s where they keep the really dangerous stuff.

I can honestly assure Mr. Ham that there’s no way “everyone” will be walking around clothesless. Not while I’m breathing, at least.

If you ever go anywhere naked people congregate, you’d appreciate clothing more and more. Most people look more like Ma and Pa Kettle than Angeljna Jolie and Brad Pitt.

I really liked that tune, but this for me is the best tune The Beloved ever released: a real stone cold classic old-skool chill out tune for UK ravers in the early 90’s.
