The Donald Trump Campaign Gave Media Credentials to a Notorious White Supremacist

Now Donald Trump is giving press credentials to a white supremacist
Politics • Views: 61,394

On the heels of his endorsements by the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke, the Donald Trump campaign has granted press credentials to one of the most disgusting antisemitic white supremacists in the US: the host of Tennessee’s “Political Cesspool” radio show, James Edwards. (Google cache link so you don’t have to visit a white supremacist web site.)

I attended a Donald Trump rally in Memphis on Saturday night as a fully credentialed member of the media and enjoyed the unique experience of being able to air a live broadcast of The Political Cesspool Radio Program from inside the press pen while the event was in full swing. (Next Saturday’s show [March 5] will feature a previously taped 20-minute interview with Donald Trump, Jr.) It was a very memorable day and I’d now like to take my audience behind the scenes.

After receiving my credentials from the campaign I was instructed to get there early for set-up and to go through security. At approximately 1:30 PM I arrived at the Millington Regional Airport, where the rally was to be held inside one of the hangars. There was already a long line of supporters waiting to gain entry even though I was on-scene nearly five hours before Trump ascended to the podium. With rock music blaring and people tailgating in the parking lot it felt very much like a college football atmosphere. There were plenty of vendors hawking Trump merchandise but the most impressive display was a concession stand offering the “Make America Great Again Trump Burger”. Naturally, this monster featured 100% American beef and 100% American cheese. Other items being offered included the “Ted Cruz Burger” (which featured Canadian Bacon), Bernie Sanders Pork Nachos, and Hillary Clinton SOFT drinks – that had been scrubbed clean.

I was fortunate to be able to bypass the crowd and long line by parking in a VIP area designated for members of the press, which was located directly behind the hangar. When I got out of my car I almost immediately ran into NBC News and Trump beat reporter Katy Tur. Katy first became known to me a couple of months ago after watching this interview. I must say though that she comes across as having an overall pleasant personality on television and she was most certainly a sweetheart when we talked. Interestingly, she is the former girlfriend of Keith Olbermann, who once referred to me as “the worst person in the world” on his unimpressive television show.

We’ve written several times before about James Edwards and Political Cesspool; Edwards is an overt racist who believes white people need to breed more so they can outnumber the “lesser” races, and also believes slavery was beneficial to African Americans. His radio show has hosted many of the stars of the white supremacist underground, such as David Duke, Jared Taylor, Ted Nugent, Pat Buchanan, etc.

This isn’t James Edwards’ first success in acquiring media credentials, either; in 2015, he received press credentials for the right wing CPAC conference, attended by many top Republican politicians.

I’d compare this to a KKK rally, but at least those attendees are granted the dignity of having their faces covered.

The Klan “rally” in Anaheim this weekend didn’t involve faces covered in anything but blood.

All along, Trump’s campaign has been about pushing boundaries.

He constantly takes the temperature of the crowds in front of whom he stands - that’s why sometimes he goes fishing for boos.

Today’s victories will show Trump that he can pretty much say anything and still get nominated.

He could probably even shoot someone on 5th avenue and still get nominated.

With his praise of Tienanmen square I wouldn’t be surprised if he shoots a protester at a rally.

The thing that bothers me about it is that it played out pretty much exactly like the Klan wanted. They showed up to have a “peaceful” march or whatever, and got the shit kicked out of them. Sure, it was only a fraction of what their forebearers did to others over the centuries, but still…

But still, every time I think about it, I’m left with the final thought of “but on the other hand, fuck those guys.”

The Daily Beast points out:

Speaker Ryan to Trump: STFU

[…]

Still, many rank-and-file lawmakers on Capitol Hill are terrified of Trump and won’t dare cross him,
lest their constituents pledge allegiance to Trump over a Republican incumbent. “I’ll wait to see what happens, nothing’s happened yet,” Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA) told The Daily Beast when asked if he could support Trump.

Trump has now secured the endorsements from five sitting members of Congress, which analysts predict will grow as he continues to pick up delegates leading into the convention.

[…]

That anger is on display across the nation today as voters are expected to come out in droves largely to support Trump. When asked if the GOP is on the brink of destruction, Ryan demurred.

“I never believe that our party is beyond the point of repair, but of course we don’t want to see division within our parties. We are conservatives, we believe in the American idea,” Ryan said before adding that he will throw his support behind Trump—even with his quiet endorsement of racism, xenophobia, and sexism—if Republican voters pick him. “I plan to support the nominee. I think I’ve said enough this morning about what’s happening right now—but my plan is to support the nominee.”

“Conservative” ninnery will only help Trump. Trump is just taking advantage of their group-think.

The thing is there was no way it was going to be “peaceful” it’s the freaking Klan and their mere presence is disturbing the peace in most places. Yes they wanted a fight and they got one and had I been there I probably would have helped beat their asses too. I will say that the stabbing was going too far.

This is not Bernie Sanders’ America - it’s Donald Trump’s

This is an America where a significant fraction of Americans are far more afraid their kids won’t be able to get an assault rifle than they are their kids won’t be able to get a decent education.

This is an America where more Americans are daily terrified by a handful of raggedy-assed ISIS fighters in a foreign land than they are of a growing legion of heavily armed militant religious fanatics in their own midst whose openly stated purpose is armed overthrow of civilization and the bloody murder of those Americans they deem not American enough. And when foreign terrorists actually do attack America, as two did in San Bernardino, California, this is an America far more concerned that those terrorists had access to an iPhone than they are those same murdering lunatics had no problem getting guns - yes, this is actually an America that would impose immediate and draconian laws literally requiring a manufacturer to create a new technology in order to regulate cell phone encryption, but not to control the goddamned guns used to murder 14 Americans and seriously injure 22 more.

The America we live in is far more afraid that some vaguely defined shadowy terrorist is going to kill their kids than it is their kids don’t have healthcare or enough to eat or a decent paying job with a wage they can live on that won’t be outsourced to India.

Trump is taking advantage of their weakness as politicians as well as boxing them in as low energy spineless do-nothings.

He has the media and all conservative politicians bullied and scared to say anything fearing the famous Trump blubber mouth threats that they will in turn mention and talk about being outrageous.

We’re going to have a lot of delegates after tonight and you’re going to see very clearly after tonight that Donald Trump has no chance of ever getting the delegates he needs to be the nominee,” Rubio said Tuesday, according to Bloomberg.

Exit polls reported by Fox News also showed that late-deciding voters had been swayed by this argument, and by Trump’s struggles to deal with questions about his support from white supremacists. Those late deciders went for Rubio in Virginia, Georgia and Oklahoma, Fox News reported.

I actually got interviewed for an exit poll by an AP reporter today after voting, since the precinct I live in is close to 50-50 on a Democratic/Republican split demographically.

She asked who I voted for (Clinton) and why her instead of Sanders (because although there are several things I agree with Sanders on, I realize there’s no chance in hell they would be implemented in today’s political climate, and some of his views are too far to the left for my political tastes.)

I was then asked about what I thought about the Republican campaign - I told her that it could be summed up in two words - an “absolute disgrace”. When asked to elaborate, I said that the three frontrunners on that side were the worst of the worst that a political party could offer - Donald Trump, a fascist wanna-be (and yes, I DID use those words) who almost daily gives lip service to white supremacists, and Cruz and Rubio, who repeatedly put their bigoted fundamentalist religious views far ahead of the rule of constitutional law.

“You know what, dear? You have a different opinion,” Clinton said, apparently ending the conversation. “He is a Somali-American elected to the city council, and I am really proud of that.”

She then said, “Why don’t you go run for something then.”

Huh?

Blind Frog Belly White  Mar 1, 2016 • 4:45:48pm

That ‘Regal’ ballroom reminds me of something I said to Mrs. FBW last night:

If Newt Gingrich is the stupid person’s idea of what a smart person sounds like, Trump’s decor is the poor person’s idea of what a rich person lives like.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. He’s also the weak person’s idea of what a strong person sounds like.

After watching Lawrence O’Donnell last night, who did an excellent job ripping gaping holes in the Trump mystique with a story on Trump University, it became really crystal clear that Trump is nothing more than an amazingly successful con man.

No news there, of course. But there’s a saying that the easiest people to con are the ones who think they deserve something for nothing. What could be more ‘something for nothing’ than a magical Wall that somebody else pays for? Or blocking an entire religion from immigrating with no negative repercussions? Or hugely increasing military spending while cutting taxes? Or bullying every other nation into doing what we want? Trump’s voters think that this shit is not only POSSIBLE, but that they DESERVE it!

And of course, what is White Privilege but the ultimate ‘Something For Nothing”?

I tend to think that may be a little harsh. Where the work needs to be done is all through the ranks of politics. Just like the Republicans. We need county people like clerks, auditors, sheriffs, state reps, clerks, district attorneys judges, school board people and the like. From all those that stick and move up comes the talent for the top jobs. People get to know them for long periods, etc. Then you have your grooming come more naturally.

Hillary looks to basically run the table other than VT (and that delegate math is starting to look more and more like a rout). VT total is 10 delegates. VA is 51 so far going to Hillary, 26 to Bernie.

And that sound you heard was the GOP accepting that a racist blowhard fascist is at the top of the ticket. And they’re fine with it since they had no problem with racist blowhards or hate mongers (the rest of the GOP field not named Trump).

When I get mad at something, someone, or a group of people, I usually vent at the nearest target who is affiliated with the group I am angry at.

It just so happens my two closest friends are a Republican, and a Sanders supporter. So when someone from one of the groups attacks me, they end up get getting the backlash.

Watching that rat bastard from Ohio. I bet there are many establishment types that would push money Kasich’s way to bump out both Rubio and Cruz.

Today I saw a NOT LIBERAL bumper sticker. Isn’t that just so Republican? It didn’t say Vote Republican or Proud Republican, just NOT LIBERAL. Negativity all the way.

And my first thought was, wow. An intolerant jackass. No interest in ever meeting him.

Hope his boss saw that bumper sticker and said. ” I was going to give you a liberal raise and enact a liberal vacation and flex time policy but I noticed that you don’t like liberal things”

Every channel I turn to makes me want to puke. SE Cupp spouting her nonsense on CNN. Can’t even fathom turning on FOX. And the fact that Nicolle fucking Wallace has a job as a political pundit after the Palin bullshit just nauseates me.

Guess it’s time to watch cooking shows with my laptop in my lap.

My FB feed has been filled with “how to stop Trump” posts today. I think the backlash from evangelicals has been too little, too late, unfortunately. However, it does make me wonder about the general election; not that any of them will EVER vote for Hillary, let alone Bernie, but if Trump is that detestable, will they still lower themselves to voting for him?

212
Jenner7  Mar 1, 2016 • 5:20:40pm

Nichole Wallace (I think that’s her name) on MSNBC doing the hand holding for Trump. They were talking about Hillary’s “trustworthiness” and how he’s going to go after her on the emails. Um, yeah, you do that. If it’s a contest on trustworthiness, she wins. Give me a break.

Edgar Mitchell, died last month at age 85. He was one of the good guys.

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.

[…]

Instead of an intellectual search, there was suddenly a very deep gut feeling that something was different. It occurred when looking at Earth and seeing this blue-and-white planet floating there, and knowing it was orbiting the Sun, seeing that Sun, seeing it set in the background of the very deep black and velvety cosmos, seeing - rather, knowing for sure - that there was a purposefullness of flow, of energy, of time, of space in the cosmos - that it was beyond man’s rational ability to understand, that suddenly there was a nonrational way of understanding that had been beyond my previous experience.
There seems to be more to the universe than random, chaotic, purposeless movement of a collection of molecular particles.
On the return trip home, gazing through 240,000 miles of space toward the stars and the planet from which I had come, I suddenly experienced the universe as intelligent, loving, harmonious.

Follow up to a convo we had downstairs about President Clinton entering a polling location in MA, here is a nice article about it. Short story: No violation, but Clinton was reminded of the 150 foot rule where he cannot solicit votes. He was in a polling location with the Boston Mayor to thank the poll workers.

boston.com

So, I read this comment, and immediately had an image of my mind of Hillary entering a polling location in MA. Then I saw the “he.” Oh, yeah, right. THAT President Clinton.

Let’s hope my un-caffeinated brain has predicted the outcome in November.
