Anti-Choice Leader Admits Women Could Be Punished for Having Abortions
Here’s a very revealing interview with anti-choice Catholic priest Frank Pavone, talking about Donald Trump’s statement that women who have abortions would need to be “punished” if and when abortion is outlawed (again). Pavone starts by parroting the standard vague anti-choice political deflection, that the women are really just “victims” and people like him only want to punish doctors who perform abortions.
But in this interview, he’s confronted with a caller to the radio show who presses him on the obvious logical inconsistency between rhetoric that calls abortion “murder” and a political stance that says “no punishment for the murderers.” Pavone waffles for a little while, but eventually he admits that yes… in some cases he’d be open to the idea of treating women who have abortions as murderers.
This is the truth about the anti-choice movement that they desperately want to hide from the general public because they’re dimly aware it makes them look like the heartless woman-hating bastards they are. If they get their way and abortion becomes an illegal procedure equivalent to murder, women who have abortions would become criminals faced with capital punishment. And it wouldn’t be just in “some cases,” because the vast majority of women who have abortions choose them freely; they’re not “coerced.”
Don’t believe the deflections. Anti-choice activists are lying to you.
