Is It Really “Ridiculous” to Say Trump’s “Star of David” Tweet Was Antisemitic?
At his website, Donald Trump has now posted a rather garbled and ungrammatical official statement on that antisemitic meme he tweeted on Saturday.
Trump’s position is that it’s “ridiculous” to claim the image he tweeted, showing Hillary Clinton superimposed on a pile of money with a red Star of David, is antisemitic.
These false attacks by Hillary Clinton trying to link the Star of David with a basic star, often used by sheriffs who deal with criminals and criminal behavior, showing an inscription that says “Crooked Hillary is the most corrupt candidate ever” with anti-Semitism is ridiculous. Clinton, through her surrogates, is just trying to divert attention from the dishonest behavior of herself and her husband.
Here, once again, is the image in question, as it was originally posted by its creator, @FishBoneHead1 — whose Twitter account is no longer active, oddly enough.
So let’s examine Trump’s claim that this image just showed an innocent star shape to evoke a “sheriff’s star,” and wasn’t intended to be antisemitic. We’ll do that by looking at a couple of the other things that appeared in @FishBoneHead1’s Twitter feed before he/she deleted it.
For example, this image of journalist Ruth Marcus (who is Jewish), featuring a grotesquely exaggerated nose.
Or another example, this image of Barack Obama edited to look like a Hasidic Jew (via @pwnallthethings).
Here’s some more evidence to take into consideration: a comment posted by “fishbonehead” for a Politico article a couple of years ago, ranting about “Wall Street and Hollywood Jews:”
I’ll let you decide if it’s really “ridiculous” to say the image Trump tweeted was intentionally antisemitic.
Trump’s social media director Dan Scavino is now taking responsibility for choosing the image Trump tweeted, and he admits he got it from the Twitter feed of @FishBoneHead1.
Who, by the way, is clearly a full-on antisemite.
