Trump Speechwriter Now ADMITS Melania’s Speech Was Plagiarized From Michelle Obama

Unreal
Politics • Views: 40,146

Immediately following the exposure of the blatant plagiarism in Melania Trump’s GOP convention speech, the Trump campaign sent numerous surrogates out to the media, claiming it was untrue, there was no plagiarism, how dare you even suggest such a thing, you liberal idiots?!

Today a Trump speechwriter admitted she was responsible for plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech, and offered to resign.

Trump rejected her resignation, because what’s a little plagiarism to a guy who already retweets white supremacists and is running on a white nationalist platform?

But it gets even better. Because the reason this speechwriter included these passages at all was because Melania Trump read them to her as examples of the kind of things she wanted to say in her speech.

[Meredith] McIver explained that she included the passages from Michelle Obama’s speech after listening to Melania Trump read passages from the 2008 address.

“Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.”

So to recap, Melania Trump actually chose those plagiarized sections of the speech herself, from a woman who’s been relentlessly demonized by the right wing, then didn’t even remember where they came from when it came time to deliver the speech. Or did she?

So Paul Manafort, Chris Christie, and all the other Trump surrogates who bombarded the media with denials now owe everyone an apology for lying, when they had to know the plagiarism was real. They probably already knew which staffer was responsible when they were on CNN and MSNBC and Fox News, lying about it.

The sheer unprofessionalism and dishonesty of the Trump campaign has never been more evident.

I would bet Melania knew exactly where they came from, but simply didn’t know using virtually the exact wording from Michelle Obama’s speech was something she shouldn’t do.

It’s Trump. No one apologizes. No one will be fired, and it’s yet another glimpse into how this scammer operates.

But that’s not even the worst thing to come out of the Trump campaign today. That’d be the veteran’s outreach nut who thought Hillary should be executed.

Trump’s response? Yeah, I’m not cool with that - wink wink nod nod.

Anyone in any other campaign would have been fired or forced to quit w/retractions/apologies. Not Trump. He’s pushing this BS to 11ty and thinks there’s room to get even louder.

I am starting to look forward to this election season. I think this is just the beginning of a non-stop roller-coaster ride of outrageous and risible behavior by the Trump campaign.

You are forgetting this bit:

One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was “really not prepared to be president of the United States,” and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination. But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

“Making America great again” was the casual reply.

Someone close to the Trump campaign said his opponent should she shot for treason. This isn’t normal, but in this election, it is. So, no real coverage about how serious this threat is. Especially when they are chanting “Lock her up!” and “Guilty!” at their convention.

“Okay I need you to help Melania with her speech, just write down whatever she tells you.”

“But…

“Whatever she tells you! That’s what I am paying you for. Do it!”

“Mr. Trump, If I may suggest-“

“No! Shut up! I tell you what to do and you do it!”

*sigh* “As you wish.”

[plagiarism is found out]

“How could you let this happen?!”

“Mr. Trump I tried to warn you-“

“Shut up! We need a plan…uhhhh. Okay here’s what we’ll do: You take the fall, say you’re going to resign and I’ll refuse to accept it!”

“Uh, doesn’t that still kind of make me look bad?”

“That doesn’t matter. This is exactly what we need to do. I love it!”

“Mr. Trump…”

“Be quiet. Everything is under control. I’ve got this. I’ll even pay you a bit extra to make it worth your while.”

“How much are we talking about?”

“I’m done with you, get out! We’ll talk later. Hey someone tell Chris Christie to bring me my lunch!!”

…and no extra money ever comes.

That’s merely just the latest proof Trump doesn’t care about anything other than his own personal fame.

And I’m still hoping the media asks Pence flat out whether he or his staff agreed to the same kind of provision proffered to Kasich.

I honestly have come to believe that Trump wants to see violence come from his words and actions (or lack thereof). It would give him a sense of power unlike just being in charge and ordering people around or firing them. If he could get a whole city to devolve and turn into a burning, violent madhouse I don’t think we’d see anything but an evil smile on his stupid face. He has literally done nothing at all to tone this shit down and has embraced white racist thugs while denying he knows what they’re about.

I didn’t always think this, but watching events unfold in the last couple of months have convinced me otherwise. He is encouraging and bringing out the worst in people. And I’m sorry (not sorry), but if you are still casting a vote for this fucking goon then you are just as responsible as he is for excusing this mess.

Leave it to Kasich to be the stand-up guy in this scenario. For all his wrongheaded ideas, it at least appears the man has something approaching a moral center, unlike the rest of the motley crew.

I am delighted that this debacle has shed light on the incompetency and dishonesty of the Trump campaign. Furthermore, the lack of savvy in their response dragged out the whole affair and ultimately made the whole mess bigger.

But let’s move on to other issues because gleefully* harping about some embarrassing plagiarism for too long will make our side appear petty. It will also give the appearance that we don’t have significant points to make about real issues.

*I am not pointing the finger at others for the gleefulness; I confess that I have been gleeful over Melania’s humiliating debacle.

I have a hard time believing she didn’t know it was something she shouldn’t do. I mean she worked in the fashion industry—even if shes was a model or whatever she would’ve known about intellectual property in relation to art, design, photography, etc.

That is, unless she’s really, really stupid or self-absorbed to the point of being uninterested in the world outside unless it directly affects things within her own personal little bubble. I’d like to believe that she’s nothing like her husband, but I’m beginning to have my doubts…
