Rep. Tammy Duckworth, a veteran of the Iraq War who lost both legs when the helicopter she was piloting was shot down, just said to Donald Trump, “I didn’t put my life on the line for democracy for you to invite Russia to interfere.”

And with that great start, here’s our first thread of the evening for the final night of the 2016 Democratic convention

Can I say now that I’m really tired of CNN saying this is the biggest speech of Hils life and she has to make people trust her and yada yada yada. Oh and today trump said…!

I cannot believe average Americans see him as a champion of the working man. I’m shocked by how gullible people are.

Yeah the idea of Trump as the working class’s champion is vomit inducing. His past is filled with stories of him screwing regular people over. Kaine brought up what happened in Atlantic City last night. Hopefully we see an ad with some of those business owners because that lie really needs to be destroyed. Trump cares about one thing only and that’s Trump.

I want to see ads of workers. Business owners are fine but these disaffected people are not business owners, they’re workers. We need to talk to workers…the average guy and gal.

The main stream media is completely failing to perform its most basic function.

The most pressing political story of the year is that Republicans have nominated someone for POTUS who is categorically, absolutely and totally unqualified for the office.

This looks to me like something that should be reported on.

And so will this:

thetab.com

PHILADELPHIA — Bernie Sanders delegates furious with Hillary Clinton’s nomination are planning to storm out of her speech tonight, The Tab has learned.

Chris, a delegate from Washington State, told us: “Half the Bernie delegates walked out on Tuesday and didn’t come back. Today the other half are walking out.

“They are going to put tape over their mouths and walk out the second she gets up on the stage, right then and there. I’ve been talking to my fellow delegates - they’re certain. The word is leaking out now. There’s nothing the DNC can really do about it.

“It’s a protest about what happened and to make sure our voices get heard. We’ve been ignored by our party and this is how we respond.”

Chris, another Bernie delegate from Missouri, added: “They’re walking out tonight. I already walked out earlier this week - I’m now trying to sell my ticket.

“We demanded a formal apology for the American people from the stage of the DNC, and we didn’t get it. I supported Bernie Sanders and feel like he didn’t get a fair shake.”

Allison, a Bernie delegate of Illinois, added: “There is a walk out planned. We are not sure if the Secret Service will let us, so a back up is that we are all going to stand up when Hillary speaks and turn our backs.”

Jason, a delegate from Hawaii, said: “We can’t really comment on that, but different people will be doing different things,” and another from the same delegation chimed in: “There is something going on tonight - you’ll want to be there.”

One delegate we spoke to, Catherine from Michigan, told us she won’t be participating.

She said: “I have heard about these plans. Bernie Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton and I support his endorsement, so I won’t be walking out.

“I’ve also heard outside agitators are trying to convince Bernie delegates to leave tonight.”

You’re absolutely and completely right. Worse, they gave him literally billions of dollars in free advertising, flatly refuse to fact check - or reality check anything (except his wife’s convention speech).

And if, God forbid, this guy is elected, he’ll only talk to friendly outfits and since ratings are King, either they’ll play or pay. So let’s guess how that plays out.

It’s disgusting.

We had a pretty cool moment today. My surviving grandmother- born seven years after women got suffrage was talking to my two year old niece about when she’s older, she’ll be able to say she was alive for the election of the first woman president. My niece is obviously too young to understand that. Hillary had a nice line to all the young women and girls out there- “I may be first but one of you will be next.” I just can’t help but to think of all the capable women in history who were largely ignored because of their gender. And that alone is why I will always defend feminism as being necessary.

I keep on seeing them say that the DNC has suppressed progressive voices and I just want to know how and which voices. They got the most progressive platform ever. Bernie got to speak and Bernie has been praised by top Dems like Kaine and Obama. Honestly, I think the Democratic Party’s been pretty damn generous to Bernie and his supporters considering many of them treat the DNC and Democratic Party as no better than the RNC.

There was a comment at Wonkette that kind of said what I feel:

Y’know what I really hate? And what I hope isn’t a factor anymore soon? The fact that I feel like I can’t be a full-throated Hillary fan. Like I’m supposed to always temper my enthusiasm with a few Hail Bernies to make up for her handful of sins.

God I feel that way too. I’ve come around on her as you know because I’ve learned so much more about what she’s actually done and lemme tell you, it just disgusts me to see her made out to be this sell out and Bernie made into the patron saint of prrogressivism.

I can never stay up the whole night. In fact, I actually look at it kind of like I did as a kid at Christmas: Wake up the next morning and there’s a new President on his (or her) way to Washington. Except for that one time when I woke up and found out that we didn’t actually elect a President…

Oh I could never do that. 2000 was crazy man. I was taking Civics that year. 8th grade in the state of Virginia is when you learn Civics. Just so happened that four years later was the 2004 one when I was in 12th and we had Government. I wasn’t really emotionally invested in 2000. I like everyone in my family wanted Gore to win and I certainly was disappointed by what happened in Florida but 2004 I got really into to the point where I was pretty damn obnoxious in school and even canvassed for Kerry in Pennsylvania because I thought PA was that important. I still remember driving to a Starbucks in Washington D.C that fall morning and it was raining. Boarded a bus with a bunch of people. I was probably the youngest one there. A good amount of college students but I ended up being paired with an older middle aged woman. I never saw any of those people again after that day so I always wondered what happened to them.

They did apologize but you know what, fuck em. They didn’t bother to actually search what it was. They wanted to question Kaine’s patriotism and they love insisting that Democrats don’t understand or respect the military. I could understand it if was a random right wing yahoo but a state party pulling this shit. It also doesn’t even look like Honduras’s flag. They just assumed because Kaine has talked proudly of his time there as a missionary that he’d be wearing a pin with their flag on it.

Bradley Cooper returned to his native Philadelphia Wednesday night to attend the Democratic National Convention, subsequently angering some conservative fans of American Sniper, the 2014 film in which Cooper portrayed Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

During Wednesday night’s broadcast of the DNC, cameras intermittently cut to a bearded Cooper, who could been sitting with girlfriend and Russian model Irina Shayk. And while that seems innocuous enough, at least one segment of the Internet disagreed.

His mere presence at the DNC, combined with the fact that Cooper is a Democrat, ultimately started a whirlwind of social media comments that had Cooper as one of the biggest trending topics on Twitter Wednesday night:

I was listening to Joy Reid on Michael Signorelli’s show today and she said the idea of the independent voter is a total myth because of how polarized everything is now, everyone’s minds are pretty much made up.

However, she alluded to Hillary trying to appeal to the suburban white mothers that lean Republican (“Hillary Republicans” as I noted above), and said if she gets half of the white women vote, it’s over for Trump.

I said many months back that because of Trump’s abortion comments, 15-20% of women that are registered Republicans will either vote for Hillary, or not for either. And a vote for neither is essentially a vote for Hillary. I stand by that even more so now.

I started writing a post about Trump’s “I WAS GONNA HIT THEM SO HARD” rant, but then I thought nahhh. He said this to get attention, and he’ll get it from a lot of people I’m sure, but not from me. Then, when people get upset that he seems to be fantasizing about physical violence (which he is, of course, and everyone listening knew it), he’ll claim he meant “hit them” rhetorically.

On this one, I disagree. This, to me, is critically important. It’s a pattern of abuse, threats and intimidation. And that pattern needs to have a 10,000,000 candle power light shining on it 24/7.

What if this schmuck wins? Will he use the NSA on those he feels slighted him? All the fear people have of spying on our citizenry, he’s virtually extolled that as a plan. He turns press away from events. Public events where he wants to be elected to the highest office of the land.

Posted about this the other night.

Bloomberg has donated $4.3 billion dollars.
Trump’s not likely to be worth $4.3 billion dollars.

In fact, it’s likely that Trump hasn’t donated more than a few million at most (and I’m being real charitable). Tom Farenthold tried to track down all the donations, and could come up with a few thousand bucks.

Put simply, Bloomberg has donated Trump’s entire net worth and not even noticed.
He could donate Trump’s charitable giving for years in a few minutes time.

Trump is a chump, and everyone knows it. Except Trump, who has to act like a bully to get his way.

I’d take Bloomberg in that fight. He’d duck the Trump punches, then drop low to wrap his arms around Trump’s legs just above the knees and then flip him on his head so fast Donny wouldn’t know what hit him. Why? Because he’d slam his orange head into the floor so hard it would knock him out.

Is there not one piece of trash Trump is willing to pick up and lick?

Thanks, I had no idea who he was, but he’s good.

He’s also the only one I’ve heard so far who included atheists along with other religions, races, etc.

Really really refreshing to see that from a cleric.

Kareem has a mike clipped to his tie.
They weren’t even going to try to adjust the podium mike.

I have a friend who is really happy to have heard Hindus mentioned. She mentioned earlier during the convention how they’re always overlooked.

Rev Barber is just … wow…

I am inspired…again…as I always am with him.

And remember, the Berners got into it with him about an event in NC—said they told the Berners they couldn’t bring signs and politic but not the Hillary people—and his Moral Monday events are NON-political.

Hadn’t heard about that. They really do seem to have problems wherever they go don’t they? I am so glad they failed.

I’ve never understood the lack of empathy of some on the right when it comes to some parents losing a child. It shouldn’t matter whether the kid was gunned down by a citizen or a police officer or committed suicide or lost his/her life due to an accident of some sort. The key thing is that a parent lost a child. That some on the right continue to demonize the loss of these parents’ kids tells me everything I need to know about their alleged Family Values.” They have none.

I need to hear that from some Christians, but I wish that Muslims here in America didn’t feel like they had to say it.

A big THANK YOU because while many Democrats have much regard for not hurting the feelings of Republicans, some of them have none to return when it comes to hurting our feelings. I’m all for giving them a taste of their own medicine, and my new position is that if they can dish it, they can take it.

That would be from his Asst Secretary of the Navy days I believe.

And he was probably already plotting about how he would sacrifice that ship to America’s enemies!

Two (formerly) committed Republicans getting up in front of the DNC to not only disavow the official Republican candidate, but overtly support the Democrat.
Not some thing you see every day….

Didn’t the GOP roll out a Democrat congressman (from Georgia?) in 2008 at the RNC?

2004, Zell Miller. Who then challenged Chris Matthews to a duel.
