The usual questions in a scandal like this is “What did he know?” and “When did he know it?” While the former is still pretty up in the air, the growing evidence is that Trump either knew about Flynn’s phone conversations shortly after they happened or (more likely) knew about them as they went on and has been lying about it for weeks.

Now prosecuting Flynn for violating the Logan Act is a long shot, especially now that he’s “resigned” (I personally think he was pushed rather than jumped), but conspiracy generally is prosecuted and it was a big part of the list of charges against Nixon.

This is what they’re forced to go with when faced with evidence that a member of the administration was actively engaged in steering national policy to benefit himself, “It was for a good cause.” In whose opinion?

They’ve been able to lower the reservoir water level by several feet in recent days as they’ve been letting 100,000 cf/s down the badly damaged main spillway. More rain and snow in the high country is in the forecast. 😟

He actually has driven himself in the past:

He picked it up and said where would you like to go for dinner? I’ll make a reservation. I had no idea. The only place I could think to go in a car was to Peter Luger’s in Brooklyn. He makes the reservation on the car phone and we go.

He was nice looking, not handsome, but nice. Preppy. Normal. Not a conversationalist, but neither was I. I didn’t think he was very bright.

Putin wants to dial back hostilities because the cost of maintaining just the military Russia presently has is crippling their economy. And that’s a military that, as we’ve seen in Syria, has trouble operating for any length of time without suffering major issues. It’s why he’s all for a new nuclear treaty, because the nukes that Russia continues to maintain are draining money from even the most modest modernization efforts.

Honest question… how many militaries (militarys?) are actually competent? We can figure the US, because they get a lot of work. The UK and Australia since they tend to join us. After that? We haven’t ever actually seen the Chinese military in much action. And Iran’s military hasn’t been engaged in a major conflict since the early 80s. So is there anyone else?

Given that Trump will be 74 by the time the national conventions roll around in 2020, it wouldn’t be unwise for any Republican to lay the groundwork for a potential run. And if all the talk is true that it’s only a matter of time before the GOP turns on him and tries to remove him, there’s no way the Republican campaign isn’t contested (see: 1976).

Sort of an interesting article about Stephen Miller’s extended family.
buzzfeed.com
We knew he came from a Democratic family but his extended relatives on his mom’s side seem genuinely ashamed to be related. On a funny note, my mom’s family is from the same town as them. They are right about the bigotry. I recall my grandfather telling me about a Klan rally that went through their hometown and as much as I loved my grandfather, he was from progressive minded on race like my dad’s parents were. It is sad to see someone like Miller whose own famliy benefited from welcoming immigration policies become the face for some of the worst racism we’ve seen in the executive branch in our lives.

Rand is only “party” as long as it fits his personal needs (much like Bernie and the Democratic party).
Rand was, is, and will continue to be a Libertarian pretending to be a Republican so he can run for president the rest of his life like his dad and suck up campaign donations.

Yeah. It seems running as an “independent” in any form is just plain good for the ol’ personal bank account. And the great thing…you don’t really have to perform on the job. Just stay on TV, fire at the sitting targets get a campaign going and suck up some bucks.

When will the US political media cut through all the bullshit and just assume, a priori, the following two things?

1) Everything Democrats say about Republicans is true.

2) Everything Republicans say about anything is a lie.

That’s your starting point, media professionals. Of course to run real stories the assumptions will need to be checked with real evidence.

99 point repeater nine percent of the time, the assumptions will be true. Report accordingly.

In some tiny fraction of the cases, the assumptions will be false. Also report accordingly. Discussion of pigs flying or of the blizzard in Hell is optional.

This will be a real time-saver.

A real post from a texass ‘patriot’; he’s a naturalized, god-fearing, originalist that is creaming his jeans with the authoritarianism of 45:

Gov. Jerry Brown is asking the Trump administration for federal assistance in responding to a potential failure of a spillway at the Oroville Dam in Northern California.

Is that so? Certainly something to take into consideration. Now, while we’re talking, how about those “sanctuary cities” that you so staunchly and fanatically refuse to do something about in spite of them being in direct violation of Federal law? Perhaps we could do something about those as well?

Brown has criticized Trump on many of his initiatives, but at a news conference Monday he lauded the president’s plan to invest $1 trillion on infrastructure.

Ahhh… The sound of a humiliated rebel taking a knee and kissing the ring of his liege lord.

It just never gets old.

re: #198 Patricia Kayden

Sickening. When you read about what Ruby Bridges had to go through for the first year of desegregating a White school, that painting is even more of an insult. What has Devos gone through which is even comparable to a Black child facing racial harassment in the Civil Rights era?

DeVos is the equivalent of the KKK escorting George Lincoln Rockwell (no relation to Norman who created the iconic Ruby Bridges painting!) into a public school in order to harass children like Ruby Bridges.

re: #3 Targetpractice

The usual questions in a scandal like this is “What did he know?” and “When did he know it?” While the former is still pretty up in the air, the growing evidence is that Trump either knew about Flynn’s phone conversations shortly after they happened or (more likely) knew about them as they went on and has been lying about it for weeks.

Aren’t you assuming that Trump’s memory lasts more than 10 minutes? He could have told Flynn to make the call and then not remembered that he actually had that conversation. Do we have any evidence that he has much of a short term memory?

I don’t gamble. Don’t like the slots or any of it. But that bet is tempting.

What a clusterfuck.

Not at all surprising. I fully expect that by the end of next week that Stephen Miller and Stephen Bannon will orchestrate a purge of anyone in Trump’s inner circle of anyone who doesn’t share their ‘insane “vision”. There is a real possibility that they would leverage their influence to actually get someone like their good friend Richard Spencer direct access to Trump as well.

She was saying someone else got access to her account, and that’s why those were liked/retweeted.

My question: Was it Don Jr? Or Donny himself. Because we know both those xenophobic bigots have repeatedly tweeted white supremacist deplorable crap.

Who else would it be? Or could it be?

And what does it say about the entire admin when they keep running in the same white supremacist circles. Do they not know each other without the appropriate hoods and robes?
