re: #1 Charles Johnson
I’m sticking to this: our president is using the rhetorical tactics used by domestic abusers.
Everybody is more guilty, or guilty first, so nobody can accuse him.
It’s not dementia, it’s not stupid (nor is it smart): it’s bottom barrel emotional manipulation by someone who really can’t imagine they could be wrong…both in the sense of veracity and morality.
Thing is, he has an audience that likes this style, which in some ways make him the kind of “populist tyrant” the Romans used to fear…directly addressing the crowd, whipping people up with flourishes such that procedure and proof don’t matter. Which, grossly, dovetails with the whole gaslights/ why’d you make me do that style.

I think we should all work from home Monday. In our underwear. Drunk.
Woke up this morning, had Fox News on. Said something about it, and I went and found it on Breitbart. Yep. They knew, and then Gateway Pundit said, I knew it. Just to be sure I checked Prison Planet and son of a bitch, Infowars had it yesterday. Got to get a National Enquirer to be sure……BRB.
I don’t think he’s even trying to start an investigation.
Right now, this is about lashing out, and getting back that sweet, sweet feeling of being embraced by people that believe him without doubt.
But here’s the scary part: the Bullshit Cycle means that this has become more “true” by repetition by someone at the top of the wingnut hierarchy, which will re-seed the notion in further blogs and “news,” which in turn will pass the information to more wingnuts. And the combination of coverage and constituents, plus partisan ass-covering, means that Congress and party officials will be incentivized to treat this as serious.
This is why I keep talking about doubling down: there’s profit in riding this kind of paranoid accusation, and a bunch of folks are currently doing that calculation of (1) add to paranoia and nuttery versus (2) more consolidated power. Whereas there’s definite cost in not backing this position, since that intense loyalty, zero-sum sense of allegiance means retaliation will follow.
Now consider all of the above in terms of the operating assumption of the current power core of the “wingnut” cadre: that lots of people don’t matter and aren’t American, and furthermore that anyone that breaks “loyalty” can be cast into that don’t matter category. This further incentivizes doubling down on paranoia, because most of the people hurt by increasing paranoia aren’t people that matter in their scheme…and some of those hurt are explicitly viewed as threats.
So basically, 45 might be making vague gestures, but there’s a lot of folk are willing to actualize this, make it true.

re: #23 Eclectic Cyborg
There is a there, here.
Many reporting most of the Dossier confirmed. Dossier says first FISA warrant was requested last summer and denied.
Louise Mensch only one reporting that a 2nd one was requested and approved for October, “right before the election”. Many others including the Guardian have run with this original source, which may be bullshit. But all of this has been out there. I’ve heard it for months. All the Breitbart reporting from this weekend is suspect due to timing and likelihood that they could be providing a conspiracy context to their base. And Bannon is always in the shadows when it comes to Breitbart and how they strategically use them.

Oklahoma lawmaker who once likened Islam to cancer asks Muslims: “Do you beat your wife?” https://t.co/2Ztsw4fbVy pic.twitter.com/noo7uihwOw

TULSA, Okla. — An Oklahoma lawmaker who once likened Islam to a cancer has handed out a form asking Muslims to answer questions that include, “Do you beat your wife?”
Republican state Rep. John Bennett’s office distributed the questionnaire this past week as the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations organized its annual Muslim Day at the Capitol.
Bennett told Muslims who wanted to see him at the Capitol to fill out the form.
Among other things, the form asked Muslims whether they would denounce terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. It also asked whether they believe former Muslims should be punished for leaving Islam.
A local official with the Council on American-Islamic Relations says the form contained “hateful, bigoted questions.”

President Pee Pee is too busy talking to the Churchill bust!
Well, good night, Lizards. The afternoon/evening shift of Lizardom here in Europe is done. Have a good one.
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show

You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker. https://t.co/SvAjuPdHfa

Hey Trump?
Yeah, he can totally kick your ass.
Knock it off, mmmkay?
Regular mode is screwed up for me. I get the ‘new comments’ thing with the number of new comments, but when I click it, it just goes away with no new comments appearing. Spy seems to be working.
I tried reloading, same deal.

Older article on Bennett (from 2014)
Oklahoma politician refuses to apologize for cautioning people to ‘be wary’ of Muslim-AmericansTULSA, Okla. — An Oklahoma lawmaker who once likened Islam to a cancer has handed out a form asking Muslims to answer questions that include, “Do you beat your wife?”Republican state Rep. John Bennett’s office distributed the questionnaire this past week as the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations organized its annual Muslim Day at the Capitol.
Bennett would have to answer these questions before I would meet with him:
When was the last time you drove drunk?
Has the local pastor been DNA tested to prove that he is not the father of your children?
Have you ever had sex with your sister? Your brother?
How much did you cheat on college exams?
Could you have graduated without cheating?
How much did you accept in bribes last year?
I’m sure we could think of more. It would be irresponsible not to ask.

Look at all that orange cake on his face.
That Jeff Sessions is respected is the biggest lie Trump ever told.

Is Charles playing around with the site? The comments seem to be reloading the entire thread.

Look at all that orange cake on his face.
It seems more like yellow cake.
And I’m not going to pursue that stream of jokes any further.
OK, odd. The numbering on this thread goes from 1-125 and then 69-121.
New comments in regular mode are loading in the middle.

Reloading the page works fine. Clicking on ‘new comments’ reloads all comments >68 after comment 68, before comment 69, rather than at the bottom of the thread.
Until I get the all clear I will stay in spy mode.
He weaseled his way back in
Priebus still left behind
Also in this from @jonkarl, Trump seems to have punished Priebus & Bannon, who were supposed to accompany to Florida https://t.co/rb7lb9szjb

Per WH release this afternoon Bannon will be with Trump at Mar a Largo tonight https://t.co/4XWu0hsxJw
— John Harwood (@JohnJHarwood) March 4, 2017
Oh, and even though reloading loads all comments in the right order, the new comments parenthetical = total comments since #68
I can’t imagine what kind of error could be doing this, but then I can’t imagine what the code that does this looks like anyway, so…..
Or…

And the quote/reply buttons don’t work either and some of the CSS is flunky.
I blame gremlins.

Let’s test that theory…
