BTW just to shatter a few stereotypes, as we have seen how sharp witted Stormy Daniels is, I’ll guess few people know that Tera Patrick has a profound knowledge and interest in middle east politics. I suspect we have a very savvy internet/cell phone tech generation that is leveraging these skills enough to overwhelm the less apt.

Yes, quite a nuanced view. So what happened was a script for a film about the porn star world of a few years ago. It was a kind of thing that spun off of porn star karaoke at a local restaurant and other local industry crew events.A writer I know went and did a ton of interviews and hung out at public events having ordinary conversations with the talent from the biz, men and women. The film itself never quite happened, which is a shame given the second script.

If he were Af-Am would be dubbed a “thug” and his bombings spun as related to BLM.

if he were Hispanic would be dubbed a “gangbanger” and his bombings linked to MS-13.

if he were Arabic would be dubbed a “jihadi” and his bombings linked to ISIS.

Or if here were an outspoken liberal dubbed a “terrorist” and his bombings linked to Antifa.

But he was a white, Christian fundie, so he’s a “troubled young man.”

But remember, folks, we’re a “post-racial society.”///////

Supposedly. The bill throws some money at the wall boondoggle to placate Hair Furor and more money to combat Russian intrusion into the electoral process. I think Trumpo has to sign it by the end of the day to forestall a government shutdown.

Well this is kind of blowing up right now in the Mormon parts of the Intermountain West:

First, what happened was a recording and a transcript of a conversation between a woman who had been a Mormon missionary and the president of the Missionary Training Center in Provo was released by “MormonLeaks” on Monday. Basically, this guy Joseph Bishop (who is now 85) pretty much confessed on audio to sexually assaulting her in the 1980s.

On Tuesday, the Fox station in Salt Lake, Channel 13, released a story after the PR arm of the Mormon church (“Mormon Newsroom”) released what I consider a self-serving statement which essentially trashed the woman. (“She was only a missionary briefly! And she’s an ex-member!”)

fox13now.com

Today, the lawyer son of Joseph Bishop made the rounds to various press outlets saying that the woman had been the one exposing herself to his father. Here’s a quote from an AP article:

Greg Bishop said there was no sexual assault and that the woman exposed her breasts to his father, unsolicited, during the encounter in the office in 1984. He said his father was apologizing in the recorded conversation for anything he did to make her feel like she could do that.

usnews.com

I’ve read the transcript and I’m seriously unimpressed by this defense of his father.

Finally, late today, two reporters from the Salt Lake Tribune posted their article, and Greg Bishop doesn’t look quite so golden:

Former Missionary Training Center president admits to asking a young missionary to expose her breasts in the ’80s, BYU police say

The former president of the Missionary Training Center for the LDS Church has admitted that he took a young woman into a small room at the Provo campus and asked to see her breasts in 1984, according to a December report released Wednesday by Brigham Young University police.

sltrib.com

Trashing a victim is really not a good look, and it comes slightly a week before this guy Sam Young leads a march to the church office building in Salt Lake City to ask church leaders to put a stop to invasive sexual questioning of minors by local church leaders during interviews. It’s not a good look at all when the Mormon church has bishops asking 11 year old boys in interviews if they masturbate. (And no, I am not lying and that’s the tip of the iceberg.)

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts (R) appointed today a replacement justice for a state supreme court justice who resigned over an ethics investigation into sexual harassment.

Johnathon Papik graduated from Harvard Law School in 2008, and has worked as a corporate lawyer. He has never been a judge. He was chosen from a group of four finalists, and has the least experience. He will also be the youngest supreme court justice at age thirty-six.

omaha.com

He worked as a clerk for two federal judges, including Neil Gorsuch.
