It takes a ton of nerve for a city boy to fuck with soybean farmers…I really hope this backfires on him.

I would rather watch the Rod Steiger/Christopher Plummer film

re: #345 The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge

Don’t go away on my account! I don’t disagree that there are people who have plans to deal with this crisis—I just meant that the GOP will not be part of that, and in fact will obstruct every effort to save us.

I think they’ll go down. Think of the Soviet Union in 1953, when the Party and the Military ganged up against Beria and broke up the MVD. I think something like that will happen. The GOP base, of course will go apeshit, and there will be bloodshed, but they’re much less potent a force than they think they are.

My response…

Sorry, didn’t see your comment.

It’s not you…it’s me.

I’ve always been a political animal and never has it been so tough to try to remain positive.

I’ve always believed in America being good, and if threats inside this nation come up, the good guys put it down.

To hear others now say that is not going to happen and to be sure it will all turn to crap is just real hard to take.

So sometimes it is just better to go away and await developments.

It was my mistake for mentioning it. I should just log out and stay away.

So there was a story about how when “Hey Jude” came out as a Beatles single and Paul McCartney painted the title in big letters in whitewash across the windows of the Apple Boutique in London.

The neighbors across the street were Jewish refugees from Germany and were rather shocked to see that when they woke up the next day…

“…Uhtegi seemed vaguely embarrassed to have told this whole story, but every word stuck with me because he is not the only Estonian who has told me a story about dreams that have focused them on what they need to do. The defense of this place is a visceral, sacred duty—especially for the men from the generation of independence.

***

This, Uhtegi argues, is what is typically missed in the reports about how vulnerable the Baltics are to a potential Russian incursion.

“You know why the Russians didn’t take Tbilisi in 2008?” Uhtegi asked me. “They were just up the road, 50 kilometers or so, and nothing was stopping them.”

Having spent many years in Georgia, I knew the answer to this one: because Georgians are crazy. Uhtegi barked a laugh. “Yes. Exactly. Georgians are crazy, and they would fight. The idea of this unwinnable asymmetric fight in Tbilisi was not so appealing to the Russians.”

He continued: “There are always these discussions. Like, yeah. The Russians can get to Tallinn in two days. … Maybe. [The Estonian capital is about 125 miles from the Russian border.] But they can’t get all of Estonia in two days. They can get to Tallinn, and behind them, we will cut their communication lines and supplies lines and everything else.” That dead-eyed Baltic stare fixes me again. “They can get to Tallinn in two days. But they will die in Tallinn. And they know this. … They will get fire from every corner, at every step.”

Good piece by @MollyMcKew on #Estonia’s plans for total defence. Reminder that deterrence isn’t just about nukes or spending 2% of GDP on defence - it’s about demonstrated will to raise the cost of aggression. #Trump needs to remember that in Helsinki www.

Estonia and all the Baltic states all have large Russian expatriate communities. It will get ugly if it comes down to that.

And do not think that this is not part of Putin’s Long Game. He is out to re-establish the old Russian Empire.

There is a similar doctrine in Sweden and Finland. Certain events mean immediate resistance without orders. There are certain routines regarding standing down which I am not at liberty to discuss, but suffice to say that the time a accidental mobilization happened in Sweden things were Charlie Foxtrot for a coupla days, compounded by national radio going out and saying it was an accident, which changed the orders…

Long story short, a mistake was made at signalling junction, and this signal went out over a geographically limited area:

Beredskapslarm

It is a “Preparedness Alarm” (Cadence 30-15-30-15-30-15 etc.) which basically means anyone in the total defence is to move to their war assigned placement.

A long time ago, back around 1990, I sent away for some information here on Lyndon LaRouche, just because I was interested in hearing what had happened to him since he embarrassed the hell out of the Illinois Democratic Party by getting nominated for Lieutenant Governor.

It got me a call from a far-right party in Germany (seems that he is quite the idol among the far right here in Europe)

I told them that I had no interest in them other than that I found Lyndon L a great example of what a small but active minority can do in a complacent democracy.

I understand the counter argument: we are protecting the law, but how do you spot an illegal alien? is there some sort of outward sign that might tip us off? hmmm…

Signs urging Omaha residents to report ‘illegal aliens’ spotted in Dundee

Where I come from, it’s illegal to post signs on telephone poles.

I have a counter proposal. It’s still illegal to hire anyone without certain records and forms. So how about a campaign to discover document and report employers of undocumented aliens? Also catching the guys likely to be underpaying, illegal 1099, underpaying overtime as a bonus. Publicly shame those enterprises…. (wait for it)

Starting at Mar A Lago.

Unsolicited. From Remnant Publications, according to the ‘required by PO’ card in it. To ‘Current Business Owner’ at this address.

Actually, probably from your local Seventh-day Adventist church. A quick scan of the Remnant Publications site finds that (a) this is actually a copy of Ellen G. White’s “The Great Controversy” and (b) the publisher does “zip code mailings”, which means this junk can be targeted to every house in the zip code.

This is money that could have been better spent…

Still ranting about the Nirth Cirtifikit! JHC.

Anyway, just because the Republic of Kenya didn’t exist, doesn’t mean that the “Colony of Kenya” wouldn’t be called Kenya.

My GrGrGFs immigration paperwork says country of origin “Germany” 9 nears before “Germany” existed too. Must be fake because it doesn’t say Grand Duchy of Baden or some shit.

How about this-report your boss who hired you as an illegal, and it gets you a work visa. Guaranteed.

I am so tired of the favored treatment accorded affluent white color criminals(especially those who are Caucasian) like Manafort or Rick Scott (or Trump), especially the ability to buy their way out of jail time or buy verdicts. They have done far more damage to this nation than the typical street thug. They need to be punished accordingly.

My God, the GOP is turning America into a vile, ugly place. It was always full of racism, but under Trump, it’s just proudly out in the open. These signs were just put up in Omaha NB.

Why aren’t people tearing down these signs, instead of passively accepting them?
