Republican Party Shrugs Off New Dire Climate Change Warnings, Doesn’t Even Bother Reading Study

Politics • Views: 33,111

There will come a time when people will see the Republicans who shrugged off the dire warnings and refused to take any action whatsoever to prevent the oncoming climate disasters as guilty of crimes against the entire human race.

Republican lawmakers are largely shrugging off dire climate change warnings spelled out in a major new United Nations report.

Few GOP lawmakers on Wednesday said they had read the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) report, which warned that the planet would be unlivable if leaders failed to cut carbon emissions.

“I just got that, and I hadn’t gotten a chance to do a deep dive on it so I’m going to have to wait to comment,” Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R - WV) told The Hill three days after the report was released.

Even fewer said they were heeding the warnings that action needed to be taken to cut emissions by 2030.

“That’s the UN. That’s the group that was formed to sell this in the first place,” said Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the former chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee and one of the best-known skeptics of climate change in the Senate.

“They come from that prejudiced perspective,” Inhofe said of the report’s authors.

The United States is one of the only nations on Earth that’s in the grip of an anti-science political machine, and it will be our lasting shame.

They figure one or both of two things:
They will either be dead before it gets bad, or their wealth will insulate them from the disaster. Their arrogance and greed might as well be a bullet to the head of the rest of us.

Historically being rich and isolated from the concerns of the larger populace doesn’t tend to work out well.

Also, I find it kind of funny that the RNC and Trump PACs are spending money to get ads on LGF. That seems like money well spent.

The Earth is sending us a message. But the GOP - addicted to oil and coal money - refuses to listen. This truly is criminal negligence. Saying this while going through the hottest October in my memory here in Western NC. We’ve had temperatures near 90 and dew points in the low 70s (quite uncomfortable). Yes, this is weather and not climate. But it has been this way since May. I guess when Miami and New York are underwater, the GOP will think about thinking about listening.

The problem is, we keep calling it “global warming”. Up here in the wild north country, we are suffering from temperatures that are on the low end of average, plus unseasonably high rainfall totals. Neither of those spells “global warming” to the idjits who use the excuse of taking the name literally to deny its reality.

That’s why I think everyone should start using the term climate chaos instead.

You know, “The girl that got away” USED TO mean a girl you dated for whom you weren’t mature enough, so she left, and you regret it years later. It’s NOT supposed to mean “the girl who managed to escape when Mark Judge jumped on top of us and I lost my grip on her.”

I have never heard the phrase, “The bitch that got away.” Ever. That does, however, sound exactly like something an MRA would say about a woman who bitch-slapped him into next week when he tried to seduce pressure her into having sex with him.

Knife-wielding man who stabbed strangers after saying ‘happy Halloween’ shot dead by victim

What a dipshit, you’d think he would at least have the wit to say “trick or treat!”

NEW HAVEN, Conn. —
A Connecticut man was shot and killed late Tuesday after attacking two people with a knife on a New Haven sidewalk, police said.

The suspect approached a 27-year-old city resident and said “happy Halloween” before stabbing him in the elbow, according to police, WFSB-TV reported.

The victim’s cousin was waiting in a nearby car and got out to see what was going on, WTIC-TV reported. After the suspect stabbed him in the bicep, the 24-year-old man fatally shot the assailant in the chest.

The man had a valid firearm permit and was lawfully registered, the Hartford Courant reported. The victim is not being charged at this time.

No doubt ammosexuals will make much of this, while ignoring the other hundred or so fatal shootings today.

Me neither, but then I guess I may have been fortunate not to hang around with guys who think that way. To me, “the girl that got away” is what I described - the girl you dated who you realize years later was everything you wanted.

I had one of those. Luckily, she came back and proposed to me.

And of course, in the rush to leave the impression that Dems are being hyperviolent maniacs, outlets like CBS ditch context as ‘irrelevant’. Gotta show fealty to the almighty narrative after all.

Eric Holder: ‘When they go low, we kick them. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.’

During a campaign swing in McDonough, Ga., on Sunday, former attorney general Eric Holder notes former first lady Michelle Obama’s high-minded 2016 slogan, “When they go low, we go high.” Then he makes clear he disagrees.

“No, no,” Holder says. “When they go low, we kick ‘em. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.”

Several minutes later, Holder clarifies that he’s not advocating anything illicit.

“When I say we, you know, ‘We kick ‘em,’ I don’t mean we do anything inappropriate. We don’t do anything illegal,” Holder said. “But we got to be tough, and we have to fight for the very things that [civil rights leaders] John Lewis, Martin Luther King, Whitney Young - you know, all those folks gave to us.”

But nope, Dems are just violent savages that need to be shown the true meaning of ‘civility’ by their betters like Trump, Lindsay Graham, and Chuck Grassley, right?
