just as tumultuous as the Flynn supposition was and folks reading the tea-leaves, stained cup and moistened lips post the drinking of said same; tomorrow is supposed to bring us some Manafort news and while the President continues to stew in his own juices, I am looking forward to determine just how much further down the rabbit hole this goes… to sum up…

we know that we have thus far on the table…

Perjury and Obstruction of Justice pretty well established (if not outright admitted by POTUS himself)

what else is coming?

Illegal Campaign Finance violations?
Espionage?
Treason?
RICO?

and it remains to be determined who exactly gets fingered for what… we all have Stone, Trump Jr. and Corsi as free spaces on our Trump Corruption Bingo cards, who else gets pulled into the morass?

Pence?
Ivanka?
Jared?
Kelly?
Preibus?
McConnell?
Scalise?
Ryan?

it’s exciting in the same way as watching a car wreck in slow motion and while there’s a very petty part of me that is ready to watch this downpour of shoes dropping another part of me is outraged and saddened that these people think so little of the rule of law and the very things that this country is supposed to stand for that I want to watch them be punished severely to what they did in wrecking the illusion that we could continue to grow as a country and act upon the better angels of our nature as Lincoln had wished. He was a Republican and these asshats have destroyed the party that he was identified with for over 150 years and now its a harbor for bigots, money-grubbers and dunces.

I’ve come around on the idea that Pence was brought in to be a patsy. Manafort wanted him, he ended up running the transition when a lot of illegal shit happened, and he’s the sort so desperate to have the big desk that he’d go along with anything Team Trump said to get there

I have great confidence in Mueller and the Democrats who will be taking over the House in January. Slowly but surely, the case is being built against Trump. If he somehow fires Mueller, he’ll still have to deal with state Attorneys General.

So in a year when the board was totally in the GOP’s favor, when they had almost half of the available seats up for grabs in states where Trump had won two years prior, the GOP managed to pick up 2 seats to leave themselves at 1 seat more than they started the previous session with. Truly this is a momentous win and something that should be at the top of every news broadcast, not the 40 seat victory achieved through getting more votes than any previous election.

I still remember being shown an endorsement for Kavanaugh that was from a “liberal Democrat woman” that was supposed to show he had bipartisan support. But you didn’t get past the second paragraph without realizing that the writer was a good friend of Blackout Brett for years whose entire argument for his nomination was “he’s such a nice guy.”

I hate to break it to Yertle, but the “War on Coal” was lost years ago, these fuckers are like the poor bastards bottled up in Berlin, fighting a defensive battle that all but the most deluded believers knows is a futile act. The Blue Wave was not just comprised of anti-Trump votes. It was also normal Democrats going out and doing normal Democrat things because the stain of Bill Clinton’s legacy wasn’t resting on the election. I still like Hillary, and I would vote for her if she ran again, but I understand that a lot of people voted against her purely because of Bill and that motivated Republicans to get out the vote against her.

I know I’ve known this is true for a long time, but it helps to be reminded of the following: if you donate to Trump’s campaign, the campaign uses your money to pay for events at his properties. It’s like money laundering, one step removed.

I bet the folks that donate to Trump’s 2020 campaign do not care one bit how Trump spends their donations.

Some may even say “Atta boy Trump, you go on and piss off them libs!”

I think one of the things the Democrats need to do in the next big round of elections is do a little civics teaching in their campaigns ads and materials and especially when in interviews.

It doesn’t need to be preachy, just a run through on how the American system works and how it no longer does. A reminder the government is the people not the Republican Party.

It might be a way to get the point across about what the Republicans are doing without direct attacks on them.

And do we need it…

My own timeline is getting overrun by berniebros tonight for pointing out he lost the primaries and had no chance in the general against Trump.

It’s all the same bulkshit arguments they were making 2 years ago.

Bernie is not a Democrat.
He refuses to register as a Democrat still.
He was allowed to run on the Democratic party apparatus.
He took advantage of this and even improperly used DNC data files.
He ran knowing how the system works, and lost by all the measures.
He then bitches about the system that he chose to run under; his supporters are even more insufferable.

@AP
BREAKING: President Donald Trump is expected to nominate U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Of course, this is all part of the plan (Bolton) to downgrade the UN Ambassador position, from a cabinet position, to that of a representative of the Secretary of State

Ayep. It’s about sending a message that the current administration views the UN as subservient to the US, rather than an equal on the world stage.

Some experts are already warning American businessmen in China that they may be arrested as pawns in that kind of game.

And Trump will lose - because he’ll blink first. He will think he’s winning by giving up leverage, power, prestige, and undermine our economy and national security in the process.

The death penalty in general does. The Amendment prohibits “cruel or unusual punishments” (not “cruel and unusual”, like most people misquote it).

Argue as you will about whether the death penalty is cruel, there’s no way to deny that nowadays it’s unusual.
