Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t blackmail illegal? Like, call in the cops and FBI and have someone arrested legal? Is the Enquirer doing this because they got immunity from Muller, and think they’re untouchable?

There’s a roadside display of trilobite fossils (actually, reproductions) in Hunan province, near where I used to work. It’s near an important stratigraphic reference site. Anyway, some trilobites were teeny tiny, smaller than ants. Others were as big as dinner plates.

We will build as much wall as we can based on feasibility, land use, and funding,” it continues.

Again: if Trump had been serious about the wall and had intended it as anything other than a symbol and rallying point, he would have commissioned a planning study including design proposals, engineering and environmental reports, legal issues, and of course a budget and timetable.

For all his claims of having experience with large-scale construction projects, he seems pretty damn clueless about how to approach one.

Bezos, Pecker, and National Enquirer is the news leading the morning shows. Of course it is; it’s salaciousness at its core - sex, extortion, billionaires, and a crummy tabloid engaging in sleazy/criminal acts.

None of this is good for Pecker, whose deal with prosecutors could be in jeopardy. It’s not good for AMI/National Enquirer, and it likely ends the career of the idiot lawyer who prepared the extortionist statements.

I’m sure Bezos wasn’t thinking that this would be how it all turns out when he decided to have an affair, but that’s between him, his soon to be ex-wife, and his mistress.

Meanwhile, Trump’s got to worry about indictments, subpoenas, and investigations coming at him from all angles, thanks to Trumpworld being inhabited by all manner of conman, grifter, and corrupt/criminal actors.

Our states don’t operate in vacuums which is why frankly I’ve always had a problem with the states rights argument. What I actually didn’t know is that Indianapolis in fact has a higher gun violence rate than Chicago does but you never see that because Obama, HRC, and other Dems don’t have connections to Chicago.

A couple of weeks ago I left a bad review on Amazon…first time I’ve ever done that. The vendor was trying to cross-sell a man’s shoe insert to women and it is WAY too big.

The vendor contacted me from China, telling me if I would take the negative review down they’d send me a $50 Amazon GC.

Wrong woman. I can turn a $5 shoe insert into a feminist manifesto in 2.5 seconds. Don’t mess with me.

I ignored the email. My review was correct.

Anyone else ever have a vendor on Amazon try to bribe them like this?

They can plot, but that’s all they can do since they’d have no ability to obtain the land along the border to build it. They’d be in an even worse position than the government to obtain the land. The government could seize by eminent domain - and that’s a costly proposition.

Yup, more than once even. A little ashamed to say I figured it was easy money, both times. I know that stuff is pretty much endemic on Amazon. Used to be as bad on eBay except also with sellers threatening negative feedback for buyers - which is why there’s no such thing any more. Seems eBay has more or less managed to stamp it out, but Amazon just DGAF, apparently.

Yes. A couple times and each time I smacked them down and reported their activity to Amazon.

Also happened to me only once on Yelp when I posted a negative review about a restaurant. The owner tried to go after me with a lawsuit. I wasn’t the only one he did this to. He harassed a lot of YELPers the same way. A bunch of us complained about The Burger Kitchen. Yelp contacted Gordon Ramsey (of all people) and his did a two part episode of Hell’s Kitchen about the place. He included a segment where the owner was confronted by a bunch of YELPers he threatened (Including me). Ramsay tried to save the place but it closed.

Not quite sure what you mean. One problem is that reviews are less reliable because the negative ones get bought off. That’s a problem precisely because customers do *not* report it.
If on the other hand you mean a problem for the seller, well under the current system I think you’re right. EBay for example used to (been a while since I read the T&C’s, tbh) reserve the right to read any communications between buyers and sellers to scan for any such transactions taking place. And you better believe they put some effort into that, too.
It’s still not perfect but it does help weed out bad apples.

This was an ethics thing to me. They were marketing a man’s product to women. There was no way to make that product work for women. The vendor was being deceptive. And when they contacted me it pissed me off even more. If they want to sell to women, make a smaller size…and it does not have to be pink, lavender, or sky blue.

For AOC when she inevitably makes her first SNL appearance if not already, I suggest Melissa Villaseñor who may in fact be the first time, I could think of a SNL person being older than the politician they’re spoofing. But I’ve seen Melissa before. Not really familiar with her acting chops but she’s a terrific mimic too. And I think it oculd be a potentially hilarious situation if you got the real AOC in on it too like SNL did when Will Ferrell played Janet Reno. I always gave Reno props for being a great sport about those skits.

But the reason why I like and respect KMc a lot as a performer is she’s willing to outside of a traditional comfort zone. Sketch comedy has often had men playing women but not as much women playing men. I think her best impression of a man is by far her Sessions but the Rudy is pretty solid as is Graham. I’m not really familiar with Ross so I can’t judge how she got him but I admire that. Oh and her Justin Bieber is hilarious.

I presented the data (“I am X shoe size, these are the 5 things I tried to make this product work for me, it did not.”) I’m a former QA manager, I show my work. Then I concluded that this is obviously meant for a man’s shoe and women need to be aware of that.

So I decided it needed to stay up.

It absolutely will hurt their business. Not the one review, but an accumulation of negative reviews will hurt sales and possibly even increase costs with the platform (I know it does on eBay, and with formal complaints with PayPal for example as well - not sure about Amazon). Thing is, that’s a good thing. It disincentivizes shoveling crap onto a platform like that and you should absolutely leave the review up - good on you for not taking the payoff, if anything.
