Trump: Mueller Should Not Testify to Congress Because I’m Completely Innocent

Politics • Views: 26,005

Trump has been yelling “NO COLLUSION” over and over. He’s even using it as his greetings and goodbyes — instead of “Hello” he yells “NO COLLUSION” two or three times in a row.

So, since Robert Mueller’s report completely exonerated him (narrator: actually, the report said specifically he was not exonerated), and concluded there was “NO COLLUSION” (narrator: actually, the report came to no conclusion about this), why in the world would he be so vehemently opposed to having Mueller testify publicly about it?

You know how when you see someone loudly, repeatedly proclaiming their innocence and lying about things that are easily checked, you just sort of know that person is guilty as hell? Yeah, that.

How pathetic is that? She can’t post racist shit on a web site, so her life is completely ruined?

I’d say if that’s the criterion, she didn’t have much of a life to begin with.

It’s weird how that propaganda technique of continually repeating a lie is countered by most normal human perceptions.

Maybe OT, but any Lizards know a method of avoiding email spam-bombs?
My wife and I (we were the only names we recognized on the recipient list) just got about 350 bogus emails (no text, just a few numbers/letters) from unknown senders, sent in blocks of 50 or so. No links, fortunately, - and we blocked and deleted them, but it’s definitely a PITA. I’m guessing there’s not much that can be done, but thought maybe the LGF braintrust might know a way to avoid them.

re: #39 Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel

I have a more-than-usual interest in accidental discharges, since I am still occasionally annoyed by the 37 year old tunnel of scar tissue through my left leg.

Wikipedia Gun violence in the United States

In 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries (23.2 injuries per 100,000 persons), and 33,636 deaths due to “injury by firearms” (10.6 deaths per 100,000 persons). These deaths included 21,175 suicides, 11,208 homicides, 505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm, and 281 deaths due to firearms use with “undetermined intent”.

It is quite striking, and I think under-reported, that a sizable majority of gun deaths are actually suicides. In their homicidal ignorance, gun humpers will say that suicide victims would just find another way, but nothing is as easy or as certain as a gun.

re: #52 7-y (Expectation of Great Things in Due Course)

So, guns enable both successful suicides and successful mass killings. 🤔

From the wikipedia article:

90% of all suicides attempted using a firearm result in a fatality, as opposed to less than 3% of suicide attempts involving cutting or drug-use.

That is a damning statistic. Not thousands, but hundreds of thousands, of people would be alive today if they hadn’t had access to guns.

Trump will be trouble for the US government and the country after he leaves office, and whether he is convicted of something or not. He will be a rallying point for disaffected nutjobs for years to come, and I expect he’ll continue to cause damage to the GOP since they’ve doubled down so much backing him they will have trouble for a few decades even starting to back away from it.

re: #103 Michele: Out of the closet, Into the fire

Nope. We can win by a landslide or by the hair on our chinny chin chin. The narcissistic asshole will have to be removed by force come inauguration day.

My prediction is that GOPers will put out every stop imaginable to cheat their way to a win (e.g. throwing out absentee ballots from black voters like that NC congressional race, letting the Russians hack voter registration systems, etc).

All we can do is plan for it and figure out a workable method to fight back.

So has anybody else looked at the new HBO min-series Chernobyl?
Looks to be pretty intense.

Chernobyl (2019) | Official Trailer | HBO

Starts tomorrow.

I picked up the new book Midnight at Chernobyl at the library and didn’t even realize that the HBO miniseries was upon us.

I’d suggest reading the book as it gives even more depth to what happened and the aftermath. It’s 33 years after the fact, and most of the world has moved on. The kinds of factors that go into a disaster such as that are still around us. We have nuclear reactors nearing the end of their lives, equipment ages, and storage facilities are nearing capacity with no national repository here in the US. Natural disasters could also lead to nuclear disaster as we saw with Fukushima.

Hubris is one of the great dangers, and the book shows how that can end up as every bad decision was compounded by even worse ones, even if they were made with good intentions.

One of the interesting facts was that despite the graphite fire and the decision to dump sand, boron, and other chemicals to suppress the fire, it turned out very little actually hit the exposed reactor core.

NAS about 5 mi away. A punchout, or the stirring tale of a bad student meeting a bad jumpmaster?

I could bet no one is sport jumping on a Sunday at NAS JAX with a 737 still in the river
Plus I know one one the skydiving airfields is Herlong on the West Side tinyurl.com , And, i would assume that if another one is used, it would be Craig tinyurl.com
And, if someone punched out of a military aircraft, we probably would have heard about it by now

Only thing I can possibly figure maybe some kind of promotional event. But, there’s really nothing even close

Also, Ive seen plenty of folks land off. I’ve landed off. And when I did, I landed next to the runway on the wrong end. Not damn near out of the county

Missed the NIN thread Charles… been a huge fan of NIN since Pretty Hate Machine came out.

Year Zero is a great album that encapsulates so much of what is going on now - The Beginning of the End, The Great Destroyer, and Survivalism (with Discipline on The Slip being the immediate follow up with the video making that explicit).

All I really hear in Donny’s tweets is a man who is desperately trying to explain why he’s such a failure. The only piece of major legislation he championed has popularity worse than gonorrhea and the others failed miserably or (as in the case with the new infrastructure bill) are so handicapped by the deficits caused by the tax cuts that his own party opposes them. He wants so badly to run on being this economic genius, but the polls show only his base of deadenders think they’re somehow magically benefiting.

Chernobyl (2019) | Official Trailer | HBO

Starts tomorrow.

re: #105 lawhawk

Decided to get HBO just to watch the series (and some others I find interesting). If the trailer is representative of the series, it looks to take a similar route to BBC’s “Surviving Disaster: Chernobyl”, but without the nerfing or cutting down to size of the BBC version.

I suspect that cries from the usual crowd about the miniseries that “exagerates the danker and the horor” etc. will be heard. Nope. From what I’ve heard, the producers, like the producers of “Surviving Disaster: Chernobyl”, had an explicit aim for accuracy, only this one won’t pull as many punches. But I won’t be surprised if after a bit, a survivor goes on record and says “It was that bad … and then add some”.

If I begin getting reports the miniseries is pure, unadulterated nightmare fuel, I’ll know it hit its mark.

My primary checkmarks are if it truthfully tells the sad story of Valery Legasov (they sure picked the right actor to portray him), the utter horrors of radiation sickness (already in 1908, Dr. Charles Allen Porter had stated in an academic paper,
the agony of inflamed X-ray lesions is almost unequalled in any other disease.”), and the utter desperation with which the liquidators and others acted.

Secondary checkmarks is if correctly tells the story of the three unsung heroes of Chernobyl: Alexey Ananenko, Valery Bespalov, and Boris Baranov. Those three saved Europe from a far greater disaster, because if they hadn’t felt their way in the dark to the valves which emptied the basement levels from water, the Chernobyl disaster would’ve been orders of magnitude worse, with something like a 3 to 5 Mt blast centered on Unit IV.

Those four are people who I will properly honor as the heroes they are if I ever face the situation of being able to visit their graves or meet them in person (Legasov and one of the divers are dead).

HBO, don’t you fucking turn out to have dropped the ball on me.

Bonus thing: You know the public announcement scene in the trailer?

UPDATE: Dem Backpedals On ‘Tentative’ Mueller Date For House Judiciary Testimony

Well, that’s a real non-surprise.

You might should read the article:

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, walked back his statement from earlier Sunday claiming that special counsel Robert Mueller had agreed to the “tentative date” of May 15 to testify before the panel.

Cicilline, during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” said representatives for Mueller had agreed to the committee’s proposed date, but warned there’s no “absolute guarantee” that the former FBI chief would show up to testify.

“Just to clarify,” Cicilline tweeted hours after his Fox News interview, “we are aiming to bring Mueller in on the 15th, but nothing has been agreed to yet. That’s the date the Committee has proposed, and we hope the Special Counsel will agree to it. Sorry for the confusion.”
