In today’s episode, Cody explores the possibility that maybe if an alleged adult in the room, say John Kelly, is profiting from the kids in camps, those camps aren’t going to go away anytime soon.

I’m back to where I was a couple of weeks ago. If we don’t start impeachment, nothing else we do matters.

Also see this, which I posted downstairs:

I daresay it’s enough to make me wonder if some of the conspiracy theorists are right - Pelosi and establishment Dems are either compromised in their own right, or see a vested interest in keeping trump in power.

Update on the young woman who was shamed for wearing shorts while leading worship. Her church has her back:

Also, what she was wearing:

For the record, I’m bigger than she is and I’ve worn shorts this short while picketing at Apologia church.

on the tax returns lawsuit - i think this is spot on

Joyce Alene
@JoyceWhiteVance

1/2 House Dems have a strong case-the law says “shall” turn over. There’s a lesson here for those of us who are impatient with Congress. Successful lawsuits require a factual record that the court reviews. W/out a solid one, meritorious cases can be lost…

2/2 Chm Neal took time to get the govt’s position locked in, giving Mnuchin enough rope to hang himself & establishing there’s no legitimate legal basis to w/hold Trump taxes. Lawsuits aren’t on an instant gratification timeline, which is frustrating but important to understand.
11:43 AM - Jul 2, 2019

also, the reason for not taking NYS up on their new law allowing congress to ask for NYS returns, is that would blow a hole in the federal case. this has to be done in sequence. NYS is a backstop/B plan.

What is especially weird is that the woman who shamed her is the same size. It’s not like someone who was a size 6 was giving shit to a woman who is a size 12/14. That terrible woman was the same damn size.

Methinks there is something more **cough** skin color **cough** going on there.

Sheboygan serial toilet clogger sentenced to 150 days in jail, probation

SHEBOYGAN - A 35-year-old Sheboygan man was sentenced Monday to three years of probation for clogging women’s toilets in Deland Park and at his place of work.

Patrick D. Beeman was originally charged with 12 misdemeanors of criminal damage to property, but seven of the charges were dismissed in early June.

As conditions of probation, Beeman will have to serve 150 days in jail, pay more than $5,500 in restitution, not be allowed to possess or consume alcohol or any controlled substances, and complete 100 hours of community service.

While the state only recommended Beeman serve 30 days in jail as part of his probation, Judge Kent Hoffmann sentenced him to 30 days for each of the five counts of criminal damage to property, served consecutively, citing the need for a more severe punishment.

So we had a roommate who dropped his toothbrush in the toilet and could not bring himself to reach in and extract it, so he just flushed it, where it got caught in the pipe and started collecting bits of paper and matter so that a few days later, the toilet no longer flushed…

I would give him 150 days for that.

Trump’s Reality Television Approach to Foreign Policy

We’ve been talking about this, but there is more here from Mark Burnett saying that they had to reverse-engineer The Apprentice, because DT would “fire” the wrong people, just on whim. They had to go back and edit the film to make it seem like he was firing someone properly.

Someone who worked on that says, “I find it strangely validating to hear that they’re doing the same thing in the White House.”

Apropos to little…

200 years ago, military parades fulfilled an important State goal. Today, in the age of airplanes and digital communications, not so much.

In those days most commanders of units were, in many ways, sub-contractors. They were given and managed the state funds responsible for paying, supplying and feeding the soldiers in their unit. And they were often quite far distant from the central administration that gave them the funds.

Like Alabama sheriffs, if they could scrimp on their outlays, they had control of the rest. By declaring more soldiers than they actually had, or supplying them poorly, they often could keep the money.

A military parade was one way to verify that they had as many soldiers as they claimed. And that they had all the required equipment. It also allowed the State leadership to verify that the unit could march into battle without losing organization, in the days when that was how battles were fought.

If something was not right central inspectors had an opportunity to look into things more deeply, right then.

It seems to me that a convincing case is being made that the Border Patrol is a failed organization.

And by “convincing case” I mean that the decision makers in the House and in the civilian immigration world are being convinced. This usually would mean, (in a responsive and law-abiding administration) that the entire Border Patrol, from top to bottom, would be investigated and re-organized. Or replaced.

With the current, lawless, ineffective, and unresponsive administration, and the corrupt McConnell leadership in the Senate, it appears that this process will not happen until 2021 at the earliest. It sounds like the smartest folks in the Border Patrol are leaving as fast as they can.

and this is one of the reasons, as a farmer, I hate GMO crops.

I was raised and trained for best practices integrated pest management.
That means judicious use of pesticides ONLY WHEN NECESSARY.

To incorporate pesticides into the genetic structure of a crop defies that best use practice and is no different, IMHO, than willy-nilly use of steroids and antibiotics in livestock just to eke out a few more pounds of meat.

End result in either case is a built up immunity.

I caught crap here at LGF a few years ago when the GMO discussion focused on the woo-woo nutritional aspects because my farmer’s opinion about built up pesticide immunity was also pooh-poohed as woo-woo.

Thanks for posting this!

This is a bit alarming.

I do not think that it means a nation of 8 million is going to launch a war against a nation of 80 million over 1000 miles away.

Much more likely is that it means Israel is going to try and neutralize Iran’s allies who are entrenched along the Israeli border. Most specifically, Hezbollah.

Strategically, an Israel-Hezbollah war would be most effective for this to happen before a general war with Iran. Rather than such conflict flowing from a US attack on Iran and catching Israel by surprise.

Hezbollah has tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of missiles and the ability to bombard most of Israel. If there is going to be a war, Israel would strongly benefit from having mobilized and deployed before the heavy shelling began. Additionally, if Israel needs resupply, the US not being in a general war with Iran would be more able to resupply.

I do think that in almost any case, any US administration would end up having to support Israel over Hezbollah.

From the people who say they are “pro-life” and “all lives matter.”

These people just need to admit they’re Nazis already.

I don’t see the Sherman tanks yet. There are lots of Shermans still around, some of them in operable condition. The Museum of the American GI in Texas has one you can schedule rides on.

Sherman Experience

I wonder if Trump could lead the parade in it? Will he fit through the hatch?

Disgusting. So killing civilians is perfectly okay now. This is Bush’s legacy.

His father too. I wouldn’t be shocked if Fred Trump had ties to the German American Bund.

Is the Mayor of Portland Mr. Wheeler going to clamp down on his piece of shit police department? I mean, why can’t we have a better police department in places like Berkeley, Portland OR, Seattle? Time to set some examples.

re: #226 The Pie Overlord!

It doesn’t matter that they softened their headlines and drew back from the claim. It’s ‘known fact’ now. It’s in the air, and the narrative is set, and it doesn’t matter how hard we try to dislodge it, it’s dead set because no amount of correction can ever seem to undo flash first impression news like this.

This is why AOC is as effective as she is, because she’s being proactive and setting the terms first thing. But even then, the fucking sheer imbalance is overwhelmingly against us, and there doesn’t seem to be a goddamn way to actually fix it or stop it. We’ll just be continually drowning in it.

If by “toilet conditions” you mean right wing death squads and drug gangs created by US drug users.

They’ll announce after that this was all a plot to smoke out some other nefarious actors who were going to do something somewhere somehow.
