In Which Secretary Mike Pompeo and His Nazi Friend Travel the World in Search of Dirt on Obama

Politics • Views: 27,391

MP4 Video

Meanwhile, this happened today.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is flying around the world with Sebastian Gorka, who has long-running ties to a Hungarian neo-Nazi group that’s on a State Department watch list.

And the purpose for the trip is to strong-arm foreign leaders into helping Trump’s bogus investigation into something Gorka calls “Obamagate.” No, I have no idea what that’s supposed to be, and I don’t think these clowns do either.

Gorka tweeted the video above from a Rome café earlier today, boasting like a B-grade Bond villain in his comically phony British accent.

I know we’ve beat them up for this already, but it’s not even a 2016 map, because he lost Orange and Riverside counties in California (and a few others). Which are impressive feats of futility for Republicans.

I posted a link the other day of a California poll that shows Trump on tract to lose California as badly as anyone has since the Civil War. No region of the state was about 38% on the question of “inclined to re-elect”. And even among Republican voters it was like 60/40 as to whether it’d be a bad thing for someone to challenge him.

an excerpt from a letter to the editor of the dallas morning news

Presumption of guilt? No right to confront your accuser? Hearsay evidence accepted? How would you like to be accused and tried in the kangaroo court of congressional Democrats?

If the rule of law prevails in the Senate, a crime must be established. Is asking the president of Ukraine to investigate credible allegations of influence peddling and obstruction of justice by a former vice president on behalf of his son a crime?

Unlike in the House, the president will have the presumption of innocence, a requirement of proof beyond a reasonable doubt, a right to confront his accuser, a right to defend himself, and hearsay evidence will not be admitted. That will be justice.

this is the thinking
that an impeachment inquiry, investigation and ultimately senate ‘trial’ of the president (or any other federal official) falls under the TV ‘law and order’ etc federal or state criminal/civil rules of evidence etc.

none of those things in the first paragraph have happened

in the second paragraph, with impeachment, a crime DOES NOT need to be established.

the third is just… confusing.
- the ‘accused’ doesnt have those rights at the investigation stage anyhow.
- “presumption of innocence” - no. many senators have already said they’ve made up their minds.
- “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” - no that’s not how senate trial works.
- “right to confront his accuser, a right to defend himself” well certainly - that’s what a trial in this country (and senate is).
- and finally “hearsay evidence will not be admitted” — wanna bet?

it’s ignorance, willful or otherwise.
and its how people, think, vote, and answer polls.

Yeah, I think through the 20th Century, the only time California didn’t go for the winner was in 1960 when Nixon was the nominee and had some favorite son love (and still won the state by less than a point), and in 1976 when Ford won by less than 2%.

But now he might just test the crazification factor as a floor.

my understanding w/r/t executive privilege is there’s virtually no way to stop someone who wants to from testifying, and no penalty mechanism after (if that person didnt in fact break a law by divulging say classified info)

I think I’ve said here before that the Steve Jobs reality distortion field was just a kids magic trick compared to what this entire administration does every single day.

Ok, a quibble with “less likely to die.” But I got a letter yesterday that my insurance provider had missed the ACA mandate of 85/15 ratio of care to administrative costs and that MY EMPLOYER would be getting a rebate from the insurer (I think that’s fine if it keeps them from transferring costs on to clients for another year).

I realize it may be something of a rhetorical question, but is reflexive denial of published realities a prerequisite for Trump Administration appointees?
Especially those involved with economic matters?

My FB wingnuts have been pretty quiet lately too. Last week a lot of them were raging at Greta.

Well the Dr has been posting all the tweets/memes. So he’s active. Yeah, the last RWNJ shit was Greta. They are obsessed with AOC.

They meet at a bar one of em owns. I’ve gone. I also went on a fab golf tourney with them. They easily put away their online hatred, very interesting.

When I first joined & started reading it was a flashback - their vitriol reminds me of my first foray into LGF.

I’m just respecting my Dad & not piping up. Yet.

God damn, when people are shit, they are really, really shit.
Luckily, dogs are pretty resilient and adaptable, and that pup is going to find a home and get loved on the rest of his life.
As for the perpetrators, I do hope justice finds them. One way or another.

If we’ve learned nothing in the last decade, it’s that whatever someone is trying to blackmail you over isn’t nearly as bad as you think it is and the best response is always “ok, release it, I fucking dare you.”

“Publish and be damned,” didn’t hurt the Duke of Wellington.

Lee Kwan Yew, Singapore’s draconion Prime Minister, once said something like ‘allowing Japan to rearm would be like giving a liquor bon bon to an alcoholic.’ North Korea should think more than twice about provoking Japan beyond certain limits. An attack will quickly unite the mostly pacifist nation behind Constitutional amendments allowing for nukes and for war. And the SDF forces are ready.

Did you know that the original recording of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer was released on 1 Sep 1949?

For some reason the question came to my mind early this morning after I woke up. Strange. It was recorded (originally) on 27 Jun of that same year.

I wonder how many versions of it have been made.

OT: I have my strange perversions: I go to work very early and end earlier than others on most days. So when I walk out and see cars circling the parking lot vainly looking for empty spaces, my first thought is “suck it, fuckers; I got to work at 6am and you can’t have my space!” Then I’m faced with the dilemma: go back to my office to do work I can do at home or free up a space for a drifter. I usually go home.

A border moat? And he insisted on estimates? How much more proof do we need that the reality TV President lives in the land of make believe. Movies and TV are real. I wonder if he’s asked where the transporters are? Meh, probably not. He doesn’t have the intelligence or imagination to watch science fiction . He does believe we have invisible planes though, so who knows?
