It looks like Alaska has more problems than just COVID-19.

Alaska reports the highest rate of tuberculosis infection in the nation, at a time when public health resources are limited

COVID-19 has further complicated the the mission of eradicating tuberculosis in Alaska, according to state and local health officials.

A federal report released in March reported that in 2019, Alaska had the highest rate of tuberculosis infections in the country, with 58 documented cases. According to data collected by the state, 2020 is on track to reach a similar high: There have been 38 cases in the state so far this year.

“At the same time that we have challenges with the COVID crisis, we’re also seeing a rise in tuberculosis cases,” said Natasha Pineda, director of the Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services, at a recent community briefing.

“We are struggling at the moment,” she said.

From Politico

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would likely wear a mask while visiting Walter Reed medical center this weekend, taking another step back from his previous reticence toward facial coverings as coronavirus cases continue to soar nationwide.

Trump plans to visit the military hospital Saturday to visit combat veterans and health care workers who have been on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

Welp…further demonstration that the abandonment of Puerto Ricans and using the disaster to grift was a trial run of what we’re experiencing under COVID.

And what happened in Puerto Rico was downstream of the wreck-shit-and-grift logic of the Iraq War….

If I were to summarize what’s happened in the world in the last 30 years, it’s that companies and individuals who’ve wetted their beaks abusing power and devouring assets in developing nations have decided that there’s really no reason to commute to a feeding ground, and—multitasking—vastly increasing desperation of citizens in developed nations recreates colonialist and neo-colonialist modes of harvesting value.

Mueller has thoughts about Roger Stone:

Robert Mueller: Roger Stone remains a convicted felon, and rightly so

The work of the special counsel’s office — its report, indictments, guilty pleas and convictions — should speak for itself. But I feel compelled to respond both to broad claims that our investigation was illegitimate and our motives were improper, and to specific claims that Roger Stone was a victim of our office. The Russia investigation was of paramount importance. Stone was prosecuted and convicted because he committed federal crimes. He remains a convicted felon, and rightly so.

CAT DRINKS DEAN OF CANTERBURY’S MILK DURING ONLINE PRAYER SERVICE

A cat has been caught on camera drinking some of a vicar’s milk during an online prayer service.

Dr Robert Willis, Dean of Canterbury, had been leading a service for Canterbury Cathedral when the feline, named Tiger, was seen creeping behind him.

Tiger then lept up onto the chair next to Dr Willis before jumping up onto the wooden table on which there was a tea pot and a small jug of milk.

The cat proceeded to dip his paw into the jug of milk and lick it.

They can’t possibly believe that one photo in a mask is going to be the end of Biden’s campaign.

They’re trying to talk Trump into wearing it more than once.

Here’s Smokin Joe on Memorial Day (over a month ago) looking pretty badass, but yeah, Trump wore a mask once.

That is because Joe is a smart man. He knows this virus is dangerous and wants to protect himself and his staff and his family from it.

They really are a cult. Trump wears a mask, everyone wears a mask - and the reverse. Why does he get this ridiculous subservience from others?

Did a bit more research on FL-21, the district Loomer is running in.

Even if she wins the primary, it’s a D+20 district. Clinton got 59% there in 2016, Obama got 61% in 2012.

Laura’s not going to Congress and I feel confident in returning to ignoring her.

Heh. Had a young person ask if we had moose around here. I said no, we do have the Elk herd that’s been reintroduced over the last 20ish years.

I told him that he needed to go to Frostbite Falls Minnesota for moose…
